Daisy and DSP

Today I’m sharing another Stamp-a-Stack project. This one is all about daisies.

Delightful Daisy from Stampin' Up! with HIPPOFROG Designs

It uses items from the Delightful Daisy Suite – stamp set, punch and DSP.

This is a great project for paper stash busting as all you need is strips to make a background. Then it’s up to you how you decide to embellish it. I’ve used ribbon to separate two of the strips and the very simple daisy as the focal point. The centre of the daisy is coloured using a Sponge Dauber and then topped with a Faceted Gem.

It’s another quick and easy project where the longest part is deciding which side of the DSP to use!

Don’t forget that this fabulous DSP is on the retiring list and therefore leaving us at the end of May. Make sure you grab yours while stocks last.

Guiding Card Making – Butterflies

Last month I was invited to a Guiding event to teach the ladies how to make two cards. Here is one of the projects.

Jar of Love from Stampin' Up! with HIPPOFROG Designs

This is a project from last year’s Charity Card Making Day that I chose to revisit.

It uses leaves from various stamp sets in shades of green. The butterflies are from Garden in Bloom in Rose Red. Both Wild Wasabi (green) and Rose Red are retiring this year, along with the Garden in Bloom Stamp Set. Make sure you get yours while stocks last.

Some of the ladies had never stamped before, so it was lovely to share their excitement with their creations.

If you’d like me to come and teach a group then please get in touch.  I run private classes and workshops and can tailor projects to suit a variety of audiences.

Pop back soon to see the second card from the morning.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Revisiting Eastern Beauty

For last week’s Card & Cuppa I chose to use a Stamp Set that we hadn’t used for a very long time.

As we were revisiting Eastern Beauty, I also revisited a similar project I’d made previously too.

Card & Cuppa Project with Karen Young from HIPPOFROG Designs. Using Eastern Beauty from Stampin' Up!

I changed the colours slightly using Berry Burst, Powder Pink and Pool Party and set the project as portrait.

A long length of Metallic Thread is sits behind a punched circle and then onto some ribbon. The focal flower is cut out by hand and embellished with a faceted gem.

Here is a close-up of the flower.

Card & Cuppa Project with Karen Young from HIPPOFROG Designs. Using Eastern Beauty from Stampin' Up!

Using a Sponge Dauber, the edges of the project have been coloured, along with the flower too.

Although I’ve left my project sentiment free, I took the Stamp Set along with me. The attendees then had a choice of adding a sentiment if they wanted to.

If you’d like to join us at a future Card & Cuppa session then make sure you book your place by 18:00 the day before.

Don’t forget to take advantage of the Retiring List and grab those favourite items while you still can.

Bright Birthday Numbers

One of the projects at my Stamp-a-Stack classes is a card suitable for children.

Here is a bold bright card that ticks that box.

Number of Years from Stampin' Up! with HIPPOFROG Designs

It’s similar to this project I made for the child of a friend. However, on this Stamp-a-Stack project I chose to leave it more generic so it would be suitable for a birthday of any number.

This bright and cheery project uses the Number of Years Stamp Set and focuses on the Brights colour family.

A great project for quick and easy batch creation.

Inspired by Southwold and Lake District

Today I’m sharing the final two projects from my recent Waterfront Class.

All of the projects have been based on places I’ve been to and the final two are in the UK. These projects are inspired by Southwold and Lake District.

Our first project is Southwold.

Waterfront Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! with HIPPOFROG Designs

I’ve been to Southwold several times and it has mainly been dreary. This card reflects this, but also shows the pretty beach huts that add colour to the cut through the gloom.

Waterfront Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! with HIPPOFROG Designs

Again, this uses 1st and 2nd generation stamping in Smoky Slate and Sahara Sand to create the sea and sand. The beach huts are in Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler, Fresh Fig, Cajun Craze and Marina Mist.

One of the sentiments from the stamp set sits nicely across a strip of co-ordinating ribbon.

Our final project is Lake District, on a rare sunny day!

Waterfront Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! with HIPPOFROG Designs

This project is also similar to the one in the Spring/Summer Catalogue but it made me think of Cumbria.

A mixture of Pool Party, Dapper Denim, Lemon Lime Twist, Crumb Cake and Old Olive combine to make the scene.

Which is your favourite project of the 6?

Inspired by Canada and Dots

Due to the Bank Holiday, there wasn’t a new Card & Cuppa project for last week, the ladies who had their class cancelled due to snow finally got to make THIS project.

In light of this, I’m sharing some more projects from my recent Waterfront Stamp Set class instead.

Here are the next two, again inspired by places I’ve been.

First we have a design inspired by Canada.

Waterfront Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! with HIPPOFROG Designs

The reflection is made by stamping onto a cello bag and then transferring the image. Next it’s the mountains and carefully lining up the trunks of the trees with the reflection.

Waterfront Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! with HIPPOFROG Designs

A combination of Perfect Plum, Tranquil Tide and Soft Sky make this a calming scene.

‘For You’ is from the Banner for You Stamp Set and it works really nicely with classic label shapes.

Next we have ‘Dots’.  This bright project is inspired by the fun times you can have on holiday, and possibly the bubbles in some drinks!

Waterfront Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! with HIPPOFROG Designs

It uses a version of the Eclipse technique where a shape is cut out of a piece and is then put back into place.

The sun makes the dots by stamping in Berry Burst, Rich Razzleberry and Tempting Turquoise across the piece.  Splats are then stamped over the project. A sentiment from Picture Perfect Birthday is then added before being cut out with the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

Waterfront Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! with HIPPOFROG Designs

A strip of Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon and a Tempting Turquoise layer are put into place before replacing the circle, making sure to line up the image.

Do you have a favourite project so far?

Inspired by Maldives and St Lucia

As soon as I saw the Waterfront Stamp Set in the Spring/Summer Catalogue, I was smitten.

It appears my class attendees were too as they asked for a class on it. This class has recently taken place and all of the projects are inspired by places I’ve visited and are named accordingly.

I’m going to show you the first two projects, inspired by Maldives and St Lucia.

Firstly ‘Maldives’

Waterfront Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! with HIPPOFROG Designs

This is similar to one of projects in the catalogue but it reminded me of my time in the Maldives.

As the colours are quite bright, the simplicity of this project and the vast amount of white space make it work. Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz and Pumpkin Pie is the colour combination for this project.

Masking makes the sun appear on the horizon.

Waterfront Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! with HIPPOFROG Designs

Next we have ‘St Lucia’

I visited St Lucia in 2013 and the stamped double mountains are my version of the Pitons.

Waterfront Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! with HIPPOFROG Designs

For this project it is easier to stamp the mountains first, then the sea, then fill in the sandy areas afterwards. This avoids having green sand where the colours mix! The trees, huts and sun are next, before adding ‘splats’ to the layer.

Island Indigo, Pool Party, So Saffron, Chocolate Chip and Wild Wasabi are the colours for this project.

I love how a combination of first and 2nd generation stamping makes the water come to life.

Waterfront Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! with HIPPOFROG Designs

All of the projects can work with or without a sentiment. There was a sentiment station set up at the class for attendees to use if they wished.

Do you have a favourite out of these?

Pop back soon for the next two Waterfront Stamp Set projects.

Customer Thank you cards – Petal Passion

It’s time for me to show you the Thank you cards I’ve sent to my recent customers. I hope those of you who received one of these are enjoying your new products.

Petal Passion DSP from Stampin' Up! with HIPPOFROG Designs

This card uses a black and white theme inspired by the design on the Petal Passion DSP. The splash of colour is Flirty Flamingo shapes from the Tree Builder Punch. These have a tiny glitter epoxy circle in the centre to add a touch of sparkle.

If you are a paper hoarder, this is a perfect project to use up your stash. You can always make a coordinating envelope too!

Even though Sale-a-Bration is over, there are still some fantastic products available to order. Check out the current products here.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Swirly Bird in Sweet Sugarplum and Pool Party

For last week’s Card & Cuppa I designed this Birthday card.

Swirly Bird Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! Card & Cuppa Class project with HIPPOFROG Designs

It uses the fabulous Swirly Bird Stamp Set and a sentiment from Happy Birthday Gorgeous, both from the Annual Catalogue.

I’ve teamed Sweet Sugarplum with Pool Party for a fresh modern feel, with Powder Pink as the accent colour.

There are lots of layers and textures on this card. Strips made from Washi Tape, Ribbon and Baker’s Twine all add to the modern twist. A few rhinestones add a touch of bling.

As it’s Bank Holiday, we aren’t meeting today, but there is class on Thursday if you’d like to join us.  We’re then back to normal next week.
