How is it Monday again already? The weeks are just flying by at the moment.
Here is the project we made at last week’s Card & Cuppa session.
This set has been on the ‘Use at Card & Cuppa’ list for a while so I’m pleased it carried over to the new Catalogue. It was a very rainy day when I designed the project, which is where my inspiration for the darker sky came from.
To begin, we stamped the lighthouse onto a separate sheet of cardstock with Real Red Ink and cut it out.
Next we created a headland for our lighthouse to stand on by cutting the shape from a strip of cardstock. Using this as a mask we stamped the sea mulitple times using Marina Mist.
By using the smaller ‘earth’ type image, we stamped the headland with various depths of Crumb Cake Ink.
We then drew our attention to the sky and worked out where we wanted our light to shine. This then allowed us to go a little crazy with Sponge Daubers and various Stampin’ Pads to create the sky.
I used Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Perfect Plum for the sky. I was going to use a blue, but I remembered that it makes green when it mixes with yellow so opted for a purple instead!
The key to making the sky is to start with the light from the lighthouse, then add the Pumpkin Pie, and finally the Perfect Plum. Remember to start light and go really gently with the Sponge Daubers, it’s easier to add than take away. At the end, using the Daffodil Delight dauber once again on the glow makes it really stand out.
By gently using the same colours in the sea, it creates a subtle reflection.
The finishing touches were to use a Sponge Dauber and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Pad over the headland, adding the birds using Early Espresso and attaching the lighthouse using Dimensionals.
