At last week’s Card & Cuppa classes it was the turn of this floral grunge project.
I know this type of crafting doesn’t suit everyone, but it’s good to step outside your comfort zone every now and then.
This project is inspired by Page 157 of the Annual Catalogue where I’ve made a few changes.
Timeless Textures is the main stamp set for the images with Swirly Bird for the smaller splatter pattern. Thoughtful Banners gives us the sentiment that is randomly stamped across the page. I’ve used Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and Soft Suede as the browns and the green is Pear Pizzazz. A mixture of first, second and third generation stamping gives a variety of shades.
Sponge Daubers are used around the edges and in the centre to add more of a grunge and distressed look. These are also used on the scrunched banner pieces behind the flower too.
To create the flower, two circles, a scallop and the tail from the Bunny Builder Punch are cut from Crushed Curry Cardstock. All of the pieces, apart from the tail coloured on both sides with Pumpkin Pie and a Sponge Dauber.
Scrunching the pieces to soften and then separate them creates the layers for the flower. Once they are stuck together, the tail makes the centre and we turn the flower into a button with a Linen Thread bow through the layers.
As the banner and flower aren’t flat, they are attached to the finished project using Tear & Tape.
A close-up of the flower button is below.
