For this week’s Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques video, I’m sharing how to tie multiple loop bows.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Tying Multiple Loop Bows. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Click on the picture below to watch my video which shows how to tie the triple-loop bow I used on this card.

Today’s project uses the Gorgeous Leaves Stamp Set and Dies Bundle from the July-December Mini Catalogue. It is the final bonus card from September’s SSOTM Online Class.

This class also incorporated my annual Mostly Men class, so the projects have a more masculine feel.

My colour combination is Bumblebee, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Soft Suede, with Basic White.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Tying Multiple Loop Bows. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

After stamping the background, two shapes are cut from the Tasteful Labels Dies. The Basic White shape is stamped with the bark image from the Stamp Set and these are layered together.

A few lengths of Linen Thread are then stuck to the project.

Leaves and branches, cut from the Intricates Leaves Dies are added to the layered shape, with a triple-loop bow from today’s video stuck on with a glue dot.

Then, the project is finished with a few Matte Decorative Dots. These were my colour inspiration for the class projects.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – SAB Sheep Dies

Last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa project uses the FREE SAB Sheep Dies.

Top Tips, Tricks & TecSAB Sheep Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

It’s my version of the project on Page 11 of the SAB Brochure.

The colours are Balmy Blue, Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight and Basic White.

A Balmy Blue background is created using a Blending Brush.

Tasteful Labels provide the shapes for the sentiment from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set to sit on. I’ve extended the banner slightly on either side by cutting it in half.

Using the Bark 3D Embossing Folder, I added some texture to the front clouds.

These sit around the sun. I found that holding them together using Glue Dots allowed me to slot the sun in easier.

The clouds and sun are then raised up using Dimensionals.

Finally, some Gold Metallic Pearls are dotted around.

Magenta Madness Just Because

This bright butterflies ‘just because’ card is great for raising a smile.

Magenta Madness Just Because. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG DesignsWith an almost monochrome feel, my colour combination is Magenta Madness and Basic White.

Using a piece of the Expressions In Ink DSP to create the background is really quick and easy. This piece has some gold running through it too.

The butterflies are cut using the Brilliant Wings Dies. Each one has been given a gentle coat of Wink of Stella.

Magenta Madness Just Because. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

For the sentiment, I’ve used the Lovely You Stamp Set and layered it onto Magenta Madness cardstock. Both ends are shaped using the Banners Pick a Punch.

Behind the sentiment is a length of the simply Elegant Trim in gold to coordinate with the DSP.

This is a great card to create in batches. Why not make a few and add different sentiments.

Counting Sheep & Matching Dies

Today’s project showcases the FREE SAB Counting Sheep Stamp Set and coordinating dies.

Counting Sheep & Matching Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Previously, I shared this project using just the fun SAB Counting Sheep Stamp Set.

I’m sure this card will feel very appropriate for those who are having trouble sleeping at the moment.

I stamped the sheep with the stamp set and cut them out with the matching dies.

Each of these items are available FREE with an order of £45, or you could earn both with a £90 order.

Counting Sheep & Matching Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

The fences and clouds are also cut using the dies.

My sheep and clouds are of course white, with Soft Suede fences and a Balmy Blue layer.

Using Stampin’ Blends, I added colour to my sheep. I also used a Blending Brush and Balmy Blue ink to create a sky effect background.

Clouds were then added, some slightly overhanging the edges.

With the fences, clouds and rear sheep in place, the front sheep was attached using Dimensionals.

Don’t miss out on the fabulous SAB offers. Only available until the end of September, while stocks last.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Ribbons & Embellishments in Every Colour

For this week’s Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques video, I’m showing a technique on how to have ribbons and embellishments in (almost) every Stampin’ Up! colour.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Ribbons & Embellishments in Every Colour. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG DesignsClick below to watch my video.

My project uses a colour combination of Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry and Basic White.

The Flowers of Friendship Stamp Set and Flowers & Leaves Punch Bundle provide the stamping and floral shapes.

Using the multiple flower stamp, this creates the background images. These are coloured using a Blender Pen.

Each punched flower, stamped tone-on-tone, has a touch of Wink of Stella added.

Tasteful Labels Dies provide the shape for everything to sit on.

A swoosh of ribbon, coloured using the technique in today’s video sits behind.

Finally, a few Rhinestones are added. Again, these are coloured to coordinate with the project.

New Timeworn Type Meets Quiet Meadow

The new Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder in the new July-December Mini Catalogue is something you may have missed.

Timeworn Type meets Quiet Meadow. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

It makes the most gorgeous backgrounds. Personally, I find it suits more vintage style projects, like the one I’ve made here.

My colour combination is Crumb Cake, Merry Merlot and Very Vanilla.

The background is embossed with the folder and I’ve used a Blending Brush to add some Crumb Cake ink over the raised type.

Timeworn Type meets Quiet Meadow. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Using the Quiet Meadow Bundle (Quiet Meadow Stamp Set & Meadow Dies) the background leaf is cut out. This is also given a hint of extra colour using a Blending Brush.

Three flowers from the Quiet Meadow Stamp Set are stamped and then colored using Blender Pens. These are cut out by hand.

A length of coordinating Crumb Cake Baker’s Twine from the Essentials Pack is looped behind the flowers.

Timeworn Type meets Quiet Meadow. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Finally, the flowers are stuck together as a ground and then raised up on Dimensionals.

I chose to leave this card sentiment free as I think it will suit any occasion.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Two-Step Stamping

For this week’s Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques video, I’m briefly explaining about Two-Step Stamping.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Two-Step Stamping. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG DesignsClick below to watch my video.

My project uses a colour combination of Basic Gray and Smoky Slate for the squirrels. Plus Old Olive, Early Espresso and Soft Suede for the leaves, branches and acorn.

Nuts About Squirrels from the new July-December Mini Catalogue provides all of the stamps used here. Two-Step stamping is used for a lot of the images on this project.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Two-Step Stamping. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I chose to use grey for my squirrels as that is what visits my garden quite a lot. We aren’t lucky enough to have red ones in our area.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Two-Step Stamping. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

The sentiment sits on a swoosh of Faux Suede Trim.

Finally, a few of the Matte Decorative Dots are added.

While I was recording my video, I could see a squirrel out of my window. Perhaps it knew!

FREE Counting Sheep Stamp Set

Have you seen this fabulous Counting Sheep Stamp Set that ewe (see what I did there?) could receive for FREE during SAB?

Counting Sheep. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

This cute set of sheep are adorable. There is even a set of FREE coordinating dies available too.

My card is a version of the project on Page 10 of the SAB Brochure.

I’ve stamped on Crumb Cake cardstock in Early Espresso and then used Watercolor Pencils to colour in the sheep and party hats.

I found it easier to use circular motions when colouring with the white and slowly increasing the pressure.

The sheep that looks like it’s dancing makes me smile. They are quite the party animal.

Counting Sheep. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Using a Blender Pen on all of the colouring, except the White, it helped to remove any pencil lines.

The party hats are a combination of Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Pacific Point.

As I used these colours, I chose to use them for the sentiment shapes.

Each piece has been shaped using the Banners Pick a Punch.

Next, a swoosh of White Baker’s Twine is added.

Counting Sheep. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Finally, the sentiment is raised up using Dimensionals.

If you want to get your hands on your own set of sheep, don’t delay. SAB is only here until the end of September, and items are available while stocks last.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Going Grunge with Art Gallery Dies

For Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa Class project, there was the opportunity for the attendees to get their grunge on.

Going Grunge with Art Gallery Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I recently made this project and thought that it would be a good design to recreate for class.

My colour combination is Pool Party, Misty Moonlight and Basic White.

The layer is set at an angle to add to the grunge feel.

For the Basic White piece, this is first embossed using the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder. I’ve then used a Sponge Dauber to ink over patches of it.

Using an emery board, I’ve taken this to the edges to distress them, and also over the top of some of the texture. It’s then set at an angle.

Going Grunge with Art Gallery Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG DesignsThe circles, cut using the the Layering Circles Dies have a touch of ink added to the edges before they are layered together.

Floral Gallery Dies provide the sentiment that is stuck onto the circles.

This central piece is stuck on top of a swoosh of Pool Party Striped Grosgrain Ribbon.

Finally, some coordinating In Color Square Gems are added.

Going Grunge with Art Gallery Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Attendees could grunge as much or little as they liked. When I design a grunge project, there is always the opportunity for those who don’t like the style to keep theirs clean and simple.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Monochrome with Strawberry Builder Punch

As you know, I’m a fan of monochrome projects, so it was lovely to design one for last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa Class.

Monochrome with Strawberry Builder Punch. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

The new FREE SAB Beautifully Penned DSP provides the background and the petals.

Using the Strawberry Builder Punch, the strawberries are cut out to create petals. The smaller flower and leaves are cut out using the punch too.

Monochrome with Strawberry Builder Punch. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Each of the strawberries are arranged to create the flower. Strawberries aren’t just for eating!

A coating of Wink of Stella is added to the smaller flower before it creates the centre of the flower.

The leaves are scored down the centre and folder slightly, before they are attached to the back.

A length of the fabulous Black and White Gingham Ribbon is atttached. Then the flower sits on top of it.

My sentiment is from the Art Gallery Stamp Set and tucks in behind the flower.Monochrome with Strawberry Builder Punch. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Finally, some Silver & Clear Epoxy Essentials are placed in the centre of the flower and around the card.

I really like how the different patterns of black and work on this project. You could easily add a splash of colour if you wanted.

Don’t miss out on getting your hands on this fabulous SAB item. Find out more at my SAB page.
