Finishing Up Friday – Brilliant Wings & Sun Prints DSP

This week’s Finishing Up Friday uses some of the many pre-cut butterflies from the Brilliant Wings Dies that I have in my stash.

I know I only shared a butterfly project with you a few days ago, but I have a lot of pre-cut ones ready to use!

This project is a monochrome design and uses the Brilliant Wings Dies and Sun Prints DSP.

It is a version of this project I designed for my Fabulous Florals online class during lockdown back in September 2020.

For this version, the DSP is Night of Navy and this chose my colour accents to work alongside Basic White. I really love the depth of colour and the mottled effect of this sheet of DSP.

Using my pre-cut butterflies, these are layered randomly onto the strip and the overhang is then cut away. Some of the cut away pieces then filled some of the remaining gaps.

A sentiment from the Beauty of Friendship Stamp Set is stamped on a cut out from the Stylish Shapes Dies. This sits on a thin strip of the DSP to make a contrasting background.

The whole sentiment piece is then raised up on Mini Dimensionals.

Finally, some Basic Rhinestones are scattered around the butterflies.

An In Color Thank You Using Items Already on my Desk

Do you have a pile of pre-cut items already on your craft desk? Me too!

For this project, I challenged myself to use them.

Using the In Colors of Soft Succulent and Polished Pink, with Very Vanilla, the project came together with items I had already cut or stamped.

The Stitched Greenery Die provides the background, again in Soft Succulent.

A flower from the Hand-Penned Petals Stamp Set, with the outline stamped in Smoky Slate, provides the main image. This image is then coloured using second generation stamping in the project colours. It is then cut out with the coordinating Penned Flowers Dies.

The flower sits on a shape cut from the Decorative Circle Punch.

Using the Beauty of Friendship Stamp Set the sentiment is stamped onto shapes cut from the Tailor Made Tags Dies. These are offset and poke out from behind the shape.

The flower and Decorative Circle piece are raised up on Dimensionals to create some extra depth.

Finally, some coordinating In Color Opal Rounds complete the project.

Wildflower Path Thinking of You

The new Wildflower Path Stamp Set from the January-June Mini Catalogue was perfect to create this recent project.

Sadly, I had to make a sympathy card.

However, the simplicity of this stamp set and using just a few colours really works.

Using Flirty Flamingo and Old Olive, the stems and flowers are stamped in a mix of first and second generation stamping.

This stamp set has a variety of images, including outer and inner flower pieces. For the outside of the flowers, these are second generation, with the inners first generation to make them slightly darker.

Sometimes, there are products you need to dust off every now and then.

So, today, I’m revisiting the Beauty of the Earth Suite Collection, with it’s Stamp Set and Dies Bundle, Embossing Folder and DSP.

I use individual pieces from the Collection, but haven’t used them together in a while.

Using Misty Moonlight from the Beauty of the Earth DSP as my main colour, this is paired with Basic White.

Across the bottom, a piece of the DSP is attached, with a strip of coordinating cardstock embossed using the Bark 3D Embossing Folder.

The sentiment is from the Beauty of Friendship Stamp Set, cut out with the Beautiful Trees Dies.

A length of Linen Thread, not in the collection, is looped behind the sentiment.

This sentiment then sits over the top raised up on Dimensionals.

I love how quick and easy this card was to make, and it was fun playing with some items I hadn’t used in a while.

SSOTM with Gorgeous Leaves – Project 2

The second project from my SSOTM Gorgeous Leaves class was this leafy Thank You card.

The eagle-eyed among you will notice that is similar to another recent project. This time, the colours and layout are different.

To create this card, a colour combination of Cherry Cobbler, Bumblebee and Old Olive team with Very Vanilla.

Each attendee had a pack of Matte Decorative Dots in their Class kits, so my colour combinations for the projects are taken from them.

This was also my annual Mostly Men class, so the projects have a more masculine feel.

Both of the ‘splat’ style stamp images are used to create a background for the leaves.

A mix of various generations of stamping create the leaves, cut out using the dies.

These are arranged before a tone-on-tone piece topped with the more delicate skeleton leaves is placed down one side.

Thank You is from the Beauty of Friendship Stamp Set on a cut out using the Double Oval Punch.

A piece of Linen Thread, also in the Class kits is looped behind.

Pretty as a Positive Thoughts Collage

As last week was a Bank Holiday, I don’t have a Card & (Your) Cuppa project to share with you. Instead, I’ve dusted off a Stamp Set and Dies combo for today’s project.

It uses the Positive Thoughts Stamp Set and the matching Nature’s Thoughts Dies. I was searching through my Dies and decided to give them a bit of love, as they have been neglected with all of the new goodies.

My inspiration is the project on Page 77 of the Annual Catalogue and is this pretty collage.

A colour combination from the Subtles Collection of Blushing Bride, Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz works well with Pale Papaya. I’m sure if Pale Papaya was one of the standard colours, it would be in with the Subtles.

The background piece is given texture using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.

With the frame cut using the dies, I stamped and cut out the various pieces. Each is then stuck onto the Basic White piece.

Beauty of Friendship provides the sentiment. This sits on top of a swoosh of Pool Party Striped Grosgrain Ribbon.

Finally the butterflies, each with some Wink of Stella sparkle are added.

As you know, I’m not a fan of pink, but I’m really pleased with how this project has turned out.

Beauty and Daisies

These pretty monochrome daisies sit on a fabulous background of DSP.

The background DSP is stamped with the Beauty of Friendship and Daisy Lane Stamp Sets in Misty Moonlight. Don’t be afraid to stamp onto your DSP, it creates some great effects.

Various generations of stamping have been used for the smaller ‘splat’ type images at the top. Check out this week’s YouTube Video on what generational stamping is all about.

Using the Medium Daisy Punch, the daisies are cut out and layered after stamping. They are then lightly coated with Wink of Stella for some subtle sparkle.

For the sentiment, I used the Beauty of Friendship Stamp Set and the coordinating Beautiful Trees Dies for the shape.

A length of coordinating Baker’s Twine from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack is finished with a bow.

Finally, some Metallic Pearls are dotted around to pick out the silver in the Baker’s Twine.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Beauty of the Earth Suite Collection

The Beauty of the Earth Suite Collection made an appearance for last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa project.

This collection, on pages 10-11 in the Annual Catalogue contains the Beauty of Friendship Stamp Set and Beautiful Trees Dies Bundle, Bark 3D Embossing Folder and the pretty Beauty of the Earth DSP.

I recently made this project using the Stamp Set and Dies Bundle. Today’s project uses all the items from the Suite Collection.

When I saw the 12×12 DSP, I knew it was just perfect for card fronts.

Using colours from the paper, I chose a combination of Cinnamon Cider and Merry Merlot for this design.

A bow is tied around the tree before the sentiment and tree are attached to the embossed piece.

Now these are together as one piece, they are then raised with Dimensionals over the three lengths of Linen Thread .

Beauty of Friendship Bundle

Another set of products from the new Annual Catalogue that has recently arrived is this fabulous Beauty of Friendship Bundle.

This Beauty of Friendship Stamp Set and Beautiful Trees Dies bundle is part of a wider Suite Collection, but more about that on another day!

My colour combination is Petal Pink, Soft Suede and Pear Pizzazz. I was inspired to use this combination because of the Cherry Blossom that is around at the moment.

For the background, I’ve used the tiny splat-type stamp in Petal Pink.

The trees are cut out using the Dies and layered. Before popping the Petal Pink layer on top, I again stamped it with the splat stamp.

A length of the Whisper White Baker’s Twine from the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack is wrapped around the project. This Twine Combo Pack from the Mini Catalogue is only available until the end of June.

The Dies also provide the shape for the sentiment from the Stamp Set which is raised up on Dimensionals.

Finally, a few Elegant Faceted Gems in co-ordinating Petal Pink add a touch of sparkle.

Beauty of Friendship Bundle. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs I’m very aware that for someone who doesn’t like pink, I’ve been using a lot of it lately. When your Husband and a friend also mention it, it’s time to return to your comfort zone. Normal service will be resumed soon!
