April Card Making Class – Project 2

Today I’m sharing the second project from my recent monthly Card Making Class.

The theme of the class was ‘All creatures great and small’ and I think these ducks fit the bill (sorry!). It was probably the most complex project from the class, but the finished result is worth it.

This design uses the Charming Duck Pond Stamp Set and Dies Bundle. These are on the Last Chance Products list, so grab them while you can.

For this project, everything starts off white, with no coloured cardstock, apart from the base card.

There is also only one Stampin’ Pad used for the sentiment and water, the rest of the colours are added using Stampin’ Blends.

To begin, the hole section is cut into the top layer. The other pieces (rushes, lily pads and ducks) are also cut out using the Dies from the Bundle.

The back piece is then coloured using a Balmy Blue Stampin’ Pad and a Blending Brushes to create the water.

On a separate piece, the sentiment is stamped and cut to size.

Using Stampin’ Blends in Granny Apple Green and Pecan Pie, the rushes and lily pads are coloured and put to one side.

Next, the ducks are coloured using Peach Pie and Basic Black Stampin’ Blends before being assembled.

For the assembly, the water section is stuck the back of the main piece.

Then, the rushes and lily pads are attached. I have only stuck the bottom piece of the rushes down to allow the duckling to appear from behind.

The duck and ducklings are then stuck to the project.

Finally, the sentiment is attached using Mini Dimensionals.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa for Children – Charming Duck Pond Take 2

Last week was my final Card & Cuppa for Children session of the summer.

As there wasn’t an ‘adult’ Card & Cuppa session due to the Bank Holiday, I revisited the project we’d made the week before, and made a small change for the children’s session. So this is Charming Duck Pond Take 2.

I’d mentioned about creating a duck project a few weeks before and they were really keen to make it.

If you’re thinking that it is exactly the same as this project, just with a frog replacing the duckling, you would be correct. That is precisely what I did!

As the duckling is quite fiddly, I chose to use the frog instead. Although I really don’t need an excuse to put a frog on my projects!

So, in short, the process is exactly the same as the previous week’s project. This one just has the frog image from the Stamp Set, cut out with the coordinating Dies and coloured with Watercolour Pencils and a Blender Pen.

It’s been fun teaching the children’s sessions again this year, seeing my ‘regulars’ and some new faces too.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Charming Duck Pond

Last week’s Card & Cuppa project used the new Charming Duck Pond Bundle.

This Stamp Set and Dies Bundle is part of a larger Suite in the Annual Catalogue. Along with the cute ducks, this set has a frog image (not used on this project), so it just had to fall into my basket!

My design is inspired by a project in the Annual Catalogue and this is my version.

For this project, I’ve used a few colours, Balmy Blue, Early Espresso, Garden Green, Granny Apple Green, Pecan Pie, along with Basic White.

To begin, the rushes were stamped, with the greenery coloured with a Blender Pen.

This background was then given a more watery feel by using a Blending Brush and Balmy Blue ink.

Both ducks were then stamped and cut out with the dies, along with the additional rushes and lily pad shapes.

These were coloured using the Watercolor Pencils packs and a Blender Pen.

Circle Punches from the Online Exclusives range and the sentiment from the Stamp Set were then layered. A touch of blue was also added to the larger white circle.

Both circles were then added to the background. Next, the rushes and lily pads were attached.

Finally, the ducks were raised up on Dimensionals.
