Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Easter Bunny Punch Art

Last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa project was this cute Easter Bunny Punch Art card.

Easter Bunny Punch Art. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs But, this card is also perfect for any rabbit fan too, not just Easter.

The return of a punch with ovals in the January-June Mini Catalogue was brilliantly timed for this project!

My colour combination is Crumb Cake for the main rabbit, with Blushing Bride and White accents. These sit on a background of Seaside Spray and Pear Pizzazz.

Circle Punches and the Double Oval Punch make the main shapes. Just one shape cut out using the Small Bloom Punch creates the area on the face. Tiny hearts for the nose and pads are from the Dog Builder Punch.

By just popping the ears behind the head, and the feet in front of the body, it comes together very quickly.

The most complicated bit is the face, with lengths of Twine from the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack creating the whiskers.

Finally, the nose is attached with a glue dot and the Matte Black Enamel Dots eyes area added.

There are so many different options for this design, beginning with the shape of the grass for the background. You can either cut make it curvy as I’ve done here, or create a more 3D effect similar to this project.

With the rabbit, this can either be the front, as I’ve shown. Or, the back of the rabbit, using the Small Bloom Punch shape for the tail, instead of on the face. Another option is to just create the face and pop it looking out through the grass.

I’d love to see what you decide to make.

Some of the punches I used on this project are now on the Retiring List. Items on the list are available while stocks last.

I’ve used Whisper White in my project, which has now been replaced with Basic White. See this post for full details while I work through my supply.

Doggy Duo Saying Happy Birthday

I recently shared two of the three Birthday cards I was asked to make for a regular class attendee. Well, here’s the final one for this special commission, and it’s this cute doggy duo.

The other projects can be seen here and here.

As they are a huge dog lover, I just knew I had to include them on one of the cards. I’ve made these dogs, cut from the the Dog Builder Punch to look like the doggy duo they have at home.

This punch has carried over to the new Annual Catalogue, so if you’re a dog lover, you would be barking mad not to have it (sorry!) It is also a great companion punch to the new Playful Pets Suite too.

The white dog has a mottled effect by using Sponge Daubers with Soft Suede and Smoky Slate ink. The collars are from Rhinestones.

Using colours from the Brights Collection, the balloons are cut with the Balloon Bouquet Punch. These are then glued together in bunches with a length of Linen Thread from the bottom balloon to the tails.

Rather than tying the other end to the tails, I made separate bows and added them afterwards.

The Happy Birthday sentiment is cut from the Well Written Dies and very carefully added across the balloons with Fine-Tip Glue. This, along with the background layer use Silver Foil Sheets.

Using Dimensionals, everything is then added to the card.

As this is a square card, so I also made a matching envelope using Designer Series Paper.

Mystery Pack – Raining Hearts & Dogs

This week’s Mystery Pack project included shapes from the Dog Builder Punch. You could say it was raining hearts and dogs!

The recipients were tasked with making a card using any of the items from the pack, along with scissors and adhesive, plus a sentiment and an ink pad.

Here is my project, using some of the items from the kit. I didn’t use all of the dogs as I preferred the Soft Suede one for my card. It’s a great card for a dog lover.

To see how I put this card together in more detail, take a look at my video below.

I created a Mondrian-type design with my various card pieces and added the hearts. The mix of the various yellows works really well with the Very Vanilla.

A pretty ribbon swish, which I show in more detail in the video is placed behind the circle layers.

Finally, a bling collar just adds a pretty finishing touch.

Hoppy Valentine’s Day

As it was Valentine’s Day yesterday, I thought I’d share the card I made.

Hoppy Valentine's Day. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Being a huge fan of frogs, it just had to be done! What do you mean you hadn’t worked out that I like frogs?

This design has been in my head since my By The Dock Stamp Set and Die Bundle arrived, so it was time to actually create it!

I stamped in Tuxedo Black Ink and coloured the frogs using a Light Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blend. These were then cut out using the co-ordinating die. This took a little while as I had 8 to cut out, but it was definitely quicker than fussy cutting!

I then used Balmy Blue to stamp the water ripples for the background.

Circles are punched using the 1″ Circle Punch and the heart is from the Dog Builder Punch.

It’s a very silly project, but the most important thing is that it brought a smile to the face of the recipient 🙂

Don’t forget that Sale-A-Bration runs until the end of March, so don’t miss out on getting your hands on some free products.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Dandelion Wishes

At last week’s Card & Cuppa sessions, I designed one of the most difficult cards to make, a sympathy card.

Dandelion Wishes Stamp Set. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I used the Dandelion Wishes Stamp Set and some masking to create this pretty project.

Using Sponge Brayers, Pool Party and Balmy Blue Ink, the ombre section was created. Second generation stamping then adds a subtle background to the lighter side of the section.

Then, after removing the masking, a dandelion in Pacific Point is stamped. Hearts from the Dog Builder Punch are added with Glue Dots.

Dandelion Wishes Stamp Set. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

‘Thinking of you’ from Colorful Seasons Stamp Set and a layer are cut using the Stitched Rectangle Dies. To create the border, we cut around the stitching of the sentiment. It’s a great way to create borders with the various stitched dies.

Dandelion Wishes Stamp Set. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Although my card was a Sympathy Card, it’s a really versatile design. I took a range sentiments along with me to the sessions and the attendees used a variety from Birthday Wishes to You’ve been on my mind’.

Saying Farewell to the Rocky Horror Tour

Last weekend I said farewell to the Rocky Horror Tour. It has been touring the UK since December last year, and I’ve watched it at some of the venues it has visited.

Although the tour finishes today, last week was my final visit and was my opportunity to hand out the cards I’d made to say thank you.

I made 10 different cards so this is a picture heavy post. However, I haven’t posted ALL the pictures.

To see the full set, head to my Rocky Horror Pinterest Board where they will be appearing over the next few days.

Each of the cards used a variety of Stampin’ Up! products. You can see the Tailored Tag Punch and the 1/2″ Circle Punch were used quite a lot in the projects.

Can you spot some of the other products I used?

Did you spot some of the variety of products I used?
I was particularly pleased with the bow I created for both Riff Raff and Janet. Who knew that Elephant Ears would come in useful!

I had great fun making these as it was something a bit different to my normal crafting routine.

Don’t forget that booking for my final evening classes of the year closes very soon. Head to my Class Timetable for more details and to book your place.

Below, I’ve listed just a handful of the main products I used to create the projects. To order any Stampin’ Up! products, including the BRAND NEW Christmastime is Here Suite, head to my 24/7 online store

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Happy Tails

Last week’s Card & Cuppa project was all about the Happy Tails Stamp Set and matching punch.

Happy Tails Card & Cuppa Project. Designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs.

This cute set combines Mint Macaron and Early Espresso for the layers and main stamping, with Soft Suede and Rich Razzleberry for the dog.

A trail of paw prints is stamped across the card and a sentiment cut with the Classic Label Punch and the ‘Ruff! Ruff!’ is added.

The kennel (or dog house!) is stamped off to create a slightly toned down effect. This is layered onto a Mint Macaron Circle.

Happy Tails Card & Cuppa Project. Designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs.

For the dog, the attendees were given a choice of colours to stamp on. I chose So Saffron and used a stamp from the set to give some spots. Isn’t the patch across they eye cute?

We then added the collar before punching the shape out using the matching Dog Builder Punch.

Happy Tails Card & Cuppa Project. Designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs.

Finally, the dog is attached using Dimensionals.

This Happy Tails Stamp Set has 16 stamps including a bone, spots to make a Dalmation-type dog, sympathy message and more. All for just £16, with the Punch and extra £17.

To even things up, I think next week’s class will be cat related 🙂
