In Color 50th

Today I’m going to share an In Color 50th Birthday Card I made for a lovely lady.

I decided to use Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist and Powder Pink from last year’s In Color Collection. This combinations works really well together, especially teamed teamed with Whisper White for a crisp and fresh look.

Oh So Eclectic is my Stamp Set of choice, along with the co-ordinating Eclectic Layers Thinlits Dies. For the sentiment I used the Happy Birthday Gorgeous Stamp Set and the Layering Circles Framelits.

Each flower is stamped and die cut, with a top layer also die cut. These are then stuck together.

As the Birthday was a 50th, additional accents just had to be in Gold, with Mini Sequin Trim and Faceted Gems.

The pieces are then all layered together to create depth.

As the recipient lives in Cyprus, I was lucky that they were visiting family in the UK for their Birthday and was therefore able to send it to them. I’m happy to report they were very happy with their card.

Blackberry Bliss Birthday

Today I’m sharing a Birthday Card I made for a friend. They were a fan of Elegant Eggplant (before it retired), so I’ve used Blackberry Bliss along with their other favourite, Crumb Cake.

Oh So Eclectic Stamp Set and the matching Eclectic Layers Thinlits create this project. The pretty background lattice shows the Blackberry Bliss layer behind.

The Crumb Cake leaves then offset the layered Blackberry Bliss flowers.

I don’t have any ribbon in Blackberry Bliss so I made my own. It’s the 1/8″ Sheer Ribbon in Whisper White that I’ve then coloured using Stampin’ Blends. They are a great way to add an extra accent in a co-ordinating colour if you don’t have what you need to hand.

Finally, three Faceted Gems in Gold create the centre of the flowers. As this card was hand-delivered, I was able to use both Dimensionals with the gems. If it was needing to go in the post, I would either stick the flowers flat, use something different for the centres, or pay extra postage.

Today I’m showing you the birthday card I made for one of my regular class attendees.

Oh So Eclectic Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! Birthday Card designed by Karen Young at HIPPOFROG Designs

It uses really bright colours of Melon Mambo and Lemon Lime Twist. Using Night of Navy accents helps to tone these colours down. This combination creates a fresh and cheery look.

I chose to use the Oh So Eclectic Stamp Set and co-ordinating Eclectic Layers Thinlits Dies to create the leaves and flowers.

The sentiment is from Picture Perfect Birthday and if you can’t treat yourself on your birthday…

A strip of Crinkled Seam Binding in Night of Navy and a bow from the same help to balance the project.

I’ve used a Faceted Gem in Gold for the centre of the front flower. This helps to hide the Dimensional that is holding it in place – remember, if you can’t see it, it isn’t there!

Birthday Card for my Stampin’ Up Mum

Being part of Stampin’ Up! is like having a very large extended family, and my Stampin’ Up! ‘Mum’ celebrated her Birthday recently.

They are fan of butterflies and turquoise so here is the card I made.

Stampin' Up! Watercolor Wings

The wall was created by inking up the embossing folder with Crumb Cake and then running it through the Big Shot. This gives a depth to the mortar between the bricks. Make sure you ink up the right side of the folder!

I decided to use a range of blues and chose Pool Party, Bermuda Bay and Island Indigo with the body in Basic Gray. For the butterfly I used Watercolor Wings and the co-ordinating dies and the Eclectic Layers Dies for the leaves.

A piece of looped Gold Metallic Thread and some Wink of Stella on the wings of the Butterfly add some classy finishing touches.
