Punch Art Easter Lamb

How cute is this punch art Easter lamb? It’s one of the projects from my Children’s Card Making Kits.

I designed two Easter cards for the kit and this is the first. These Children’s Card Making Kits are part of my Social Isolation Classes offering, currently replacing my regular face-to-face Card & Cuppa for Children Classes I would have been holding during the Easter holidays.

Although the project is designed with children in mind, it’s a perfect project for anyone to create!

Balmy Blue Sky, Garden Green Grass and a Daffodil Delight sun are joined by a Basic Black and Whisper White lamb.

Quite a collection of punches are used from Circle to Layering Circles Dies, there’s even Balloon Bouquet and Elephant Builder Punches used too. You’ll notice that it also uses the Small Bloom Punch from SAB that isn’t currently available. But, fingers crossed it will be making an appearance in the Catalogue again soon.

The project has an accompanying craft-along video that you can join in with too, where I take you through all the steps to make this punch art Easter lamb.

I hope you enjoy the project. Pop back soon to see the other card from this Easter Kit.

Bugs, Beasts & Butterflies – Lovely Little Elephants

This is the penultimate project from my Bugs, Beasts & Butterflies Class and it uses the lovely Little Elephant Stamp Set and matching punch.

Lovely Little Elephant. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I couldn’t run a ‘beasts’ class without including an elephant!

This project would be great for a new baby congratulations, or a Birthday with a change of sentiment.

The colours are Soft Sea Foam and Smoky Slate, combined with Whisper White.

Lovely Little Elephant. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

The smaller elephant is holding a balloon of balloons, as I’ve used the Balloon Bouquet Punch to cut them out.

Fine-Tip Glue was used to stick the Soft Sea Foam ears to the Smoky Slate stamped elephants.

A length of Metallic Edge Ribbon has been coloured with a Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blend to co-ordinate the colours. Then a length of Whisper White Baker’s Twine has been wrapped around it.

SNAIL has been used to attach the larger elephants, but the smaller one has been made to stand out using Dimensionals.

Pop back soon for the final project from the class.

Saying Farewell to the Rocky Horror Tour

Last weekend I said farewell to the Rocky Horror Tour. It has been touring the UK since December last year, and I’ve watched it at some of the venues it has visited.

Although the tour finishes today, last week was my final visit and was my opportunity to hand out the cards I’d made to say thank you.

I made 10 different cards so this is a picture heavy post. However, I haven’t posted ALL the pictures.

To see the full set, head to my Rocky Horror Pinterest Board where they will be appearing over the next few days.

Each of the cards used a variety of Stampin’ Up! products. You can see the Tailored Tag Punch and the 1/2″ Circle Punch were used quite a lot in the projects.

Can you spot some of the other products I used?

Did you spot some of the variety of products I used?
I was particularly pleased with the bow I created for both Riff Raff and Janet. Who knew that Elephant Ears would come in useful!

I had great fun making these as it was something a bit different to my normal crafting routine.

Don’t forget that booking for my final evening classes of the year closes very soon. Head to my Class Timetable for more details and to book your place.

Below, I’ve listed just a handful of the main products I used to create the projects. To order any Stampin’ Up! products, including the BRAND NEW Christmastime is Here Suite, head to my 24/7 online store

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Little Elephant

Last week, I used the Little Elephant Stamp Set and Elephant Builder Punch at Card & Cuppa Classes for the first time.

Little Elephant. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

This card is perfect to celebrate any occasions, from Birthday to newborn.

I teamed Smoky Slate with Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape for this project.

The ribbon effect background is created by stamping the strip from the Stamp Set onto a separate piece of Whisper White Cardstock. There is a mix of first and second generation stamping. These are then cut out by hand and attached to the card.

Little Elephant. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

An image from the set, I chose balloons, is then stamped and cut out using a Circle Punch. Make sure the image is biased towards the top so that there is room to add the elephants.

Another circle is then punched to create a layer to the chosen image.

Little Elephant. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Using Thick Whisper White as the base card, it creates a clean and fresh look.

Finally, the stamped little elephants are added to finish the project.

If you like this project, why not join us for a future Card & Cuppa session. Book your place by 18:00 the day before.

Card & Cuppa for Children – Punch Art Lion

As the Summer Holidays have rolled around again, it’s time for my annual Card & Cuppa for Children Classes.

The venue I hold them at runs a themed set of activities each week. This week it was ‘Movie Mayhem’ and my punch art lion fitted this perfectly due to the newly released Lion King film.

Isn’t it cute? He uses a lot of punches to create it and there are some key steps, so keep reading for details on how to make your own version.

Punch Art Lion. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

You’ll need:
2 x Daisy Punch – Early Espresso
1 x Pretty Label Punch – Crushed Curry
1 x Pretty Label Punch (extra bit punched from the piece left behind) – Crushed Curry
1 x Circle Tab Punch – Crushed Curry
1 x 1 1/2″ Circle Punch – Crushed Curry
1 x Leaf Punch – Crushed Curry
3 x Elephant Builder Punch (Large Ears) – Early Espresso
2 x Elephant Builder Punch (Small Ears) – Whisper White. You can’t see these very well in the picture above.

Cut the Pretty Label pieces, Circle Tab and Leaf Punch pieces as shown above. Discard the unwanted pieces.

Punch Art Lion. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Now it’s time to assemble:

– Use the tiny circle stamp from Budding Borders Stamp Set to add some eyes to the white pieces
– Use glue dots to attach these to two of the large elephant ear pieces
– Glue the Daisy shapes together to create a mane
– Add the circle to the top
– Attach the two pieces from the Circle Tab Punch to the straight edge of your Pretty Label (body) piece. Make sure the longer edges of the Circle Tab Punch pieces are aligned with the straight edge to create feet
– Add the Leaf piece to the cut end of the Pretty Label extra piece to create a tail
– Attach the tail to the back of the body
– Add the eyes and remaining large Elephant Builder Punch ear to the face
– Draw a mouth using Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker.

Create the background using Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive Stampin’ Pads. I’ve used Artisan Textures Stamp Set and High Tide Stamp Set. The sentiment is from Wiggle Worm Stamp Set.

Attach the body of the lion first using Dimensionals, I used a Mini Dimensional for the tip of the tail. Next, add a Dimensional to the top of the head and some adhesive to the bottom of the head. By adding the head last, you can decide if you’d like it angled or straight.

Affix the head and the project is finished 🙂

I hope you like this punch art lion. The young attendees certainly enjoyed making it.

I only have two more Card & Cuppa for Children sessions left this summer. Places are limited so make sure you book your place now.

Four Little Elephants

I realised that I hadn’t shared this cute Birthday card with you. It was for the son of a close friend, so I made these four little elephants to celebrate.

Four Little Elephants. Project Designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

It was the first time I’d used the Elephant Builder Punch and I fell in love straight away. There are two sizes of elephant and these are the smaller ones.

I was reminded of the rhyme about little elephants balancing on a piece of string – I bet you’re singing it now aren’t you!

The elephants are made from Smoky Slate with Basic Gray ears, with the leader switched.

A banner from the Pick a Pennant Stamp Set in Balmy Blue created a fun celebration feeling to the card. This Stamp Set is on the Retiring List so make sure you grab it while you can.

Four Little Elephants. Project Designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

The finishing touches were the balloon with the ‘4’ stamped using the Pick a Pennant Stamp Set, cut out with Balloon Bouquet Punch (also on the Retiring List). Plus, a Baker’s Twine string for the balloon, and eyes in Basic Black.

This fun Elephant Builder Punch comes in a bundle with the Little Elephant Stamp Set. Although it’s carrying over to the new Catalogue, it’s only available in this discounted bundle until 3rd June. That’s too good a deal to miss, order yours today.
