There are times when less is more, this card is definitely one of those times.

I had a completely different idea for this project, then changed my mind as I started making it. Please tell me I’m not the only one!

My colour combination is Balmy Blue and So Saffron, combined with Basic White.

Using the Bloom Hybrid Embossing Folder, with the Bloom Dies from the Bundle, I was able to both cut and emboss the flower shapes in one go. This Embossing Folder is amazing!

Then, using my Blending Brushes, I used So Saffron to add colour to the background and Balmy Blue to colour the flowers. As the flowers are embossed, it allows for some pretty colouring.

For my flowers, I had to use a Sponge Dauber for the centre, plus a touch of Wink of Stella for some sparkle.

As with this previous project, I also inked up part of a sentiment from the Art In Bloom Stamp Set, also in the Bundle. Again, I cut this with the Dies and cut off the excess.

Using a combination of Tear & Tape and Dimensionals, the flowers are attached.

Finally, some Opal Rounds add some extra sparkle.

Just Jade Monochrome

Last week I held a Pretty Paper Stash Buster Papercrafting Class. This class was all about actually using your paper, instead of sitting there stroking it!

It covered hints, tips and techniques for using the paper and how to get at least 72 cards out of a pack of DSP. I also made the attendees cut into their paper and make three cards using their class packs.

This is one of the samples I showed at the class. It’s a uses a new In Color, along with Whisper White and creates this pretty Just Jade Monochrome card.

You know I can’t resist a monochrome project and using a DSP that is one colour makes it so easy.

Although the In Color DSP is 6×6, rather than 12×12, there are still plenty of ways to cut the paper to get the best use out of it.

For this project, I’ve used a Thick Whisper White basecard. The piece of Just Jade DSP is then added. Don’t forget that there are two sides to the paper, so you can choose which side to use.

A really lovely sentiment from the Forever Fern Stamp Set is cut out using a Circle Punch.

With a length of co-ordinating Just Jade Ribbon looped onto the DSP, the sentiment is added on top with Dimensionals.

As well as this Just Jade monochrome card, why not make a batch of these in lots of different colours and sentiments. They would make a lovely gift. Especially packaged in one of the Stampin’ Up! Acetate Card Boxes (page 152).

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Dragonfly Dreams

Last week’s Card & Cuppa was all about the brand new Watercolour Pencils from the Spring/Summer Catalogue.

This is the beautiful card that the attendees made:

Card & Cuppa Dragonfly Dreams Stampin' Up!

To make the dragonfly stand out, we created a muted background using colours from the Neutrals family. These were stamped off a number of times.

As we were using Photopolymer stamps, I was able to pre-cut the dragonfly shapes using the coordinating Thinlits. The Stamp Set and Thinlits are available as a Bundle with 10% off.

A sentiment stamped onto a banner, a strip of Natural Trim Ribbon and some Pearls just finished off the project. Using a Blender Pen after colouring is a great way to smooth out any imperfections too.

Everyone had free rein on which Watercolour Pencils they coloured the dragonfly with, the only stipulation was that Old Olive had to be used on the dragonfly somewhere, this was to pull the project together. As you can imagine, no two projects were the same.
