A Fond Farewell to Firm Favourites

As I don’t have a Card & Cuppa project to show you this week, I’m saying a fond farewell to firm favourites instead.

The current Annual Catalogue is only valid until 3rd June, so you only have until next Monday to order any items on the Retiring List (while stocks last).

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Lovely Lipstick

I hope you’re enjoying the Bank Holiday. It doesn’t seem possible that it will be September next week.

For last week’s Card & Cuppa session I decided to revisit a project I’d made previously and give it a Lovely Lipstick twist.

The secret of this project is the simplicity.

As this card only needs two stamps, all of the attendees had to be patient! Each project has 9 stamped lines and a sentiment.

Lines are from the Icing on the Cake Stamp Set stamped in Tuxedo Black. Grid Paper squares help to ensure the lines are at regular intervals.

Corners are rounded using the Detailed Trio Punch to mirror the punched circles.

The sentiment from the Thoughtful Banners Stamp Set in Lovely Lipstick makes this a perfect card for any occasion.

A bow from co-ordinating Lovely Lipstick Ribbon attaches to the Silver Foil Card circle with a Glue Dot. The silver circle co-ordinates with the sparkly Rhinestones in three different sizes as a finishing touch.

I really like how the design can work in any colour or with any stamp sets to create the bottom pattern and sentiment.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Icing on the Cake

For last week’s Card & Cuppa project, I reached for a brand new stamp set from the Annual Catalogue.

Here is the project:

Stampin' Up! Icing on the Cake

This stamp set is called Icing on the Cake.

I’m sorry to say that it didn’t instantly grab me as I looked through the new Catalogue.  I’ll happily admit that I love baking cakes, and am even happier to eat them, but icing isn’t my forte. But, when I saw that the set was only £15 for 20 stamps, I thought why not give it a try.

After using it for this project, I’m happy I chose it.

Page 79 of the catalogue is my inspiration for this design.  You’ll notice that the project is a combination of the two designs on the page.

The rose images are just beautiful.  You can stamp the most detailed of the images and it looks lovely, however, when you use both two-step stamps together it’s just stunning.

What’s great about these images is that they are easy to line up to stamp multiple times across a page.  They are also very forgiving so it doesn’t matter if you don’t get them quite right.

A combination of Sweet Sugarplum, Flirty Flamingo, Pear Pizzazz, Peekaboo Peach and Pool Party makes this sweet card.

Cutting the leaves and roses out by hand and raising them onto Dimensionals gives a lovely finishing touch.

This stamp set was definitely a hit with the attendees who were keen to get their hands on their own sets.
