Say it with Sunflowers

This sunny thank you card was made for a friend who loves sunflowers.

My main colours are Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Basic White, with others used for the colouring.

The Jar of Flowers Stamp Set and coordinating Jar Punch provide the stamping and jar shape.

I’ve stamped in Black to create the outlines for colouring. I would normally use Grey or Brown for this, but felt black would work better with the overall design.

For the sunflowers, these are stamped twice. This allowed me to fussy cut parts of the images out for some strategic piecing. They are stuck together in various layers over the top of the jar.

Now, instead of the three sunflowers, there is a fuller looking bouquet. It was a bit fiddly and time consuming cutting them out, but it was worth it.

Using Stampin’ Blends, the water is coloured in Balmy Blue, stems and leaves in Granny Apple Green, centre in Soft Suede and flowers in Daffodil Delight.

A sentiment from the Blossoms in Bloom Stamp Set sits in a shape cut using the Tasteful Labels dies.

This is raised using Dimensionals over some Linen Thread and a little bow.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Pierced Blooms Dies

Lots of layers of flowers and leaves from the Pierced Blooms Dies made last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa project.

The jar shape is from the Jar Punch, cut from Smoky Slate. Everything else is cut using the dies.

These dies are part of Bundle with a coordinating Stamp Set in the January-June Mini Catalogue. Although the products are staying, the Bundle is on the Retiring List and leaves us at the end of this month. Make sure you grab your discounted Bundle while you can.

A combination of Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive for the leaves, So Saffron and Daffodil Delight for the yellow and Pale Papaya for the orange make up the floral part. Pool Party adds the bow and ribbon elements.

Attaching the ribbon and bow to the jar first and adding that to the project gives a starting point.

Next, leaves and flowers are added, using a combination of wet glue and Glue Dots.

The largest flowers are given centres, coated with Wink of Stella and are raised at the front with a couple of leaves to add depth.

Finally, the smallest flowers were used to fill in gaps and small Basic Pearls are popped in the centre of some of the flowers.

This project is sentiment free, but one can be added if needed.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Small Blooms in a Jar

These small blooms in a jar for last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa project make a big entrance.

Using a softer pink for the jar and layer, I was able to use brighter colours for the flowers.

My colours are Blushing Bride, Magenta Madness, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive.

The flowers are layered onto a ‘helper piece’, in this case a punched circle. By layering onto a separate piece, it allows the whole bunch to be moved as one.

Sprig Punch leaves are then glued to the back of the circle.

A length of Gray Granite Ribbon creates a pretty flat (Dior) bow around the vase.

A couple of Dimensionals on the back of the flowers allows them to stand out from the vase.

Finally, Artistry Blooms Sequins in co-ordinating Mango Melody are added to some of the flowers and around the project.

I chose to leave this project sentiment free as I think it is a great project for many occasions.

Fabulous Florals – An In Color Jar of Flowers

The latest project from my Fabulous Florals Papercrafting Class is this pretty In Color jar of flowers.

It combines three In Colors, Terracotta Tile from last year and this year’s Bumblebee and Just Jade, along with Very Vanilla.

Wild Rose Dies provide the detailed flower and leaf pieces. The other shapes are created by drawing round the detailed pieces and cutting them out. These give us extra the flowers and leaves.

The pieces with more details are stuck onto a hand cut piece and put to one side.

A Terracotta Tile jar cut using the Jar Punch is stuck to the card. This is then joined by the hand cut flowers and leaves.

Using Dimensionals to make them the focus of the project, the more detailed flower and leaf pieces are then added.

Blossoms in Bloom provides the sentiment using Terracotta Tile ink.

A length of co-ordinating ribbon has a knot tied in it and is then stuck on with a Glue Dot.

Finally, Gold Glitter Enamel Dots create the centre of the focus flower, with the rest providing sparkle around the project.

Jar of Flowers Bundle

Here is another of the floral projects I’ve been making recently. This card uses the Jar of Flowers Bundle.

In the Bundle, there is a stamp set that is perfect for colouring, with reversible stamps too. This is teamed with the co-ordinating Jar Punch. As bundles are discounted, they are great items to purchase.

The flowers for this project are first stamped in Smoky Slate. Then, they are given some colour with Stampin’ Blends. My combos are So Saffron, Granny Apple Green, Highland Heather and Petal Pink. Once I had cut them out, I used Pool Party Blends to highlight around the edge.

My jar is in So Saffron to co-ordinate with the layer and some of the flowers.

A bow from the Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon is wrapped around the jar before it is stuck to the card.

The flowers are then attached to the project using Dimensionals.

Finally, some Metallic Pearls are placed around the design and Wink of Stella is added to the centre of the flowers for a touch of sparkle.

I like the white space on this project as it allows the flowers to shine. Be sure to add this Jar of Flowers Bundle to your shopping list!

Flowers for Every Season Suite

Have you come across the Flowers for Every Season Suite? It’s near the front of the Annual Catalogue.

I’ve had fun creating some cards with it. Here is the first one. It’s my version of a project on Page 11.

This Suite can only be described as a mega suite, it includes TWO Stamp Set Bundles and DSP, along with loads of other products.

The flowers are fussy cut from the 6×6 DSP in the Suite and stuck together. Cutting out the flowers was the most time consuming part of this project!

In Colors are used for the DSP, so I’ve co-ordinated this with a base card in Bumblebee. Another piece of DSP is used for the Cinnamon Cider strip at the bottom of the project.

One of the Bundles in the Suite is the Jar of Flowers Stamp Set and Jar Punch. Using Misty Moonlight and tone-on-tone stamping, the jar is stamped and punched.

For more depth, the flowers are attached to the project using Dimensionals.

As the DSP uses the new In Colors, it’s great to be able to use the co-ordinating In Color elements.

Here I’ve added a knotted piece of In Color Ribbons and some In Color Enamel Dots too for the finishing touches.

BYO Stamps – A Jar of Flowers

For the final project for my recent BYO Stamps class I designed a jar of flowers.

Using a number of new punches and a new Stamp Set from the Annual Catalogue, it’s a pretty mix.

Once again, Soft Sea Foam and Mint Macaron are my main colours, with Mint Macaron for the leaves. By masking the rather large area around the edges of the jar, the leaves can be stamped at various heights and angles. We don’t want stems to be poking out the side of our jar!

This time a splash of So Saffron and Poppy Parade add the extra colour with the flowers. The larger flowers are stamped. Then a few smaller flowers are created using the Confetti Flowers Border Punch and coloured in So Saffron with a Sponge Dauber in a variety of tones.
