Today is my Stampin’ Up! Birthday. It is my 13th anniversary of joining SU!

13 years ago I became a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and it’s been full of stamps, inks, cardstock, punches, dies, DSP, ribbons, embellishments and more since. But, the main thing it has been full of is fun.

Joining SU was a decision I didn’t take lightly, in fact it took me over a year to make up my mind to join and sign on the dotted line – there was no internet sign-up in those days! There was also a ‘set’ Starter Kit that only had a few things you could change, not like the fully customisable option we have now.

Stampin’ Up! turns 35 this year, so I have been with them for just over a third of that time so far.

The SU Demonstrator community are a wonderful group of people. I have made some very good friends and met people from different parts of the world, all thanks to our love of gorgeous papercrafting products. I’ve also been lucky enough to make friends with those I teach at my classes too.

I joined SU! during Sale-A-Bration in 2010. If the Starter Kit wasn’t already fabulous value for money, it is even better during SAB as there are extra goodies for signing up. This year, SAB runs until 28th February.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Tropical Layers Dies

For last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa project I chose to use the Tropical Layers Dies from the new January-June Mini Catalogue.

I really enjoy using leaf punches and dies, so this new set of dies is perfect.

The design takes inspiration from page 76 of the Mini Catalogue.

Rather than using many greens, I chose to use Fresh Freesia, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive and Very Vanilla for my colour combination.

Each of the large leaves are layered to create some depth.

The sentiment, from the coordinating Artfully Layered Stamp Set is then added. It is stuck onto another shape from the Tropical Layers Dies.

A length of In Color ribbon sits behind.

Next, the smaller leaves are dotted into the gaps at the side. I found using the putty end of my Take Your Pick Tool was perfect for picking these fiddly little pieces up to position them in place onto a little dot of Multipurpose Glue.

Finally, some of the new Polished Dots are added.

Team Congratulations in Purple

Another part of my job I love is congratulating members of my team when they reach milestones within their business. This card is for a recent promotion.

It uses Fresh Freesia, Gorgeous Grape and Basic White, a favourite combination.

The Hand-Penned Petals Stamp Set provides the images. These have a darker outline and paler inners.

A pair of tags cut using the Tailor Made Tags Dies provide the perfect place for the sentiment, also from the Hand-Penned Petals Stamp Set.

Some Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon is looped through the holes.

Then, the tags are raised up on Dimensionals.

Wink of Stella is used in the centre of the flowers to add a little touch of sparkle.

Finally, some coordinating In Color Jewels are added for some extra bling.

I really like this design as it’s simple, yet stylish at the same time. It’s a great project to recreate in lots of different colours, and for any occasion.

FREE Textures & Frames Stamp Set

As you know, I love a stamp set with lots of different abstract shapes and designs.

This fabulous new Textures & Frames Stamp Set just had to jump into my shopping basket as one of my FREE Sale-a-Bration (SAB) items.

SAB started yesterday and runs until the end of September. There is a FREE SAB item for every £45 spend. Plus FREE items for joining my team as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator during SAB too.

My colours of Pumpkin Pie, Pear Pizzazz and Night of Navy, with Basic White are a great neutral combination.

Each image was stamped randomly over the page, some in first and some in second generation stamping. Only the central shape was stamped with a position in mind.

For the sentiment, I used the Blossoms in Bloom Stamp Set and cut the edges to mirror the angles of the box.

Just a small swoosh of Basic White Twine from the Essentials Pack sits behind it.

A few Mini Dimensionals raise the sentiment up to make it stand out.

This would be a great project for batch production. You could stamp a whole sheet with the random pattern and then just cut it into pieces for the cards.

Introduction to In Color Class – Polished Pink

The 5th project from my recent Introduction to In Color Class is for Polished Pink.

This is my first pink project for about a month!

Here I’ve teamed it with another pink Blushing Bride, and Pear Pizzazz for the leaves.

As there is no access to shared stamps at my Online Classes, the bottom section is created using punched shapes instead.

All of the flowers and leaves are cut using the Flowers & Leaves Punch.

Once the bottom section has been created, the coordinating ribbon sits across the project to conceal the dividing line.

A sentiment from the Prince & Princess Stamp Set is stamped in Basic Gray.

Then, the focal flower is made by layering the flowers and leaves together. The smaller Blushing Bride pieces are given a coat of Wink of Stella.

Finally, some In Color gems are added to the centre of the flower.

First Inking of Expressions In Ink Suite Collection

My Annual Catalogue order that arrived the other day contained the Expressions In Ink Suite Collection.

It’s a beautiful collection that includes the Artistically Inked Stamp Set, Artistic Dies, Expressions in Ink 12×12 Specialty DSP and Expressions in Ink Ephemera Pack. All for £70.

This is my first time using the collection and it doesn’t disappoint.

My project starts with using a piece of the DSP for the background. Some of the sheets have gold foiling on them and they are simply stunning.

Then, using the stamp set and co-ordinating dies, the flowers and sentiment are stamped.

I’ve used Just Jade, one of the colours in the DSP and combined it with Mango Melody and Daffodil Delight.

The images in this stamp set are stunning, as you would expect from a DISTINKTIVE stamp set.

Using the pre-cut gold elements from the Ephemera Pack, extra leaves are popped behind the smaller Mango Melody flowers. These co-ordinate with the gold in the DSP.

The larger Daffodil Delight flower is then raised up on Dimensionals with the sentiment stamped and placed on top.

Finally, the adhesive-backed sequins, also from the Ephemera Pack are dotted in the middle of the large flower, with a few more on the DSP.

I can’t wait to make more projects with this Suite Collection as I haven’t even scratched the surface.

A Birthday Biggest Wish

Yesterday, my Annual Catalogue order arrived and in the big box were a few new items.

This Birthday card uses some of these new products.

My colour combination is three of the new In Colors of Fresh Freesia, Pale Papaya and Polished Pink. They work really well together with Basic White.

I’ve used one of my stripe pattern designs to create the background. These stripe patterns are really great for using up any offcuts or for being economical with your cardstock!

The mixed In Color Cardstock pack is another great way of being more frugal with cardstock. They include a few sheets of each of the 5 colors, instead of having to purchase multiple packs.

Then, using the new Layering Diorama Dies I have cut the fabulous curvy shape.

Another new item, the Biggest Wish Stamp Set gave me the two words for the sentiment. I really like this Stamp Set as the sentiment can do a lot of the hard work for you, especially if you need a quick and easy card.

Finally, three Loose Flower Flourishes in the same In Colors are added. These don’t have any adhesive on the back, so you can attach them however you like. I chose to use Glue Dots. Biggest Wish. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

The finished project reminds me of a dessert. Perhaps I’m just hungry!

Vintage Style Quiet Meadow

When I was flicking through my new Annual Catalogue to make my pre-order list, several products jumped out at me.

One of these was the gorgeous Quiet Meadow Bundle (Quiet Meadow Stamp Set and Meadow Dies).

I had, and still have, so many project ideas for this bundle running round my head that I couldn’t wait to use it when it arrived.

The first project I made was this vintage style card in more sepia tones.

It uses Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Soft Suede for the cardstock and stamping.

The background has Sponge Dauber inking to soften the edges.

Using Watercolor Pencils, the flower was coloured in Early Espresso and Whisper White.

Two cute tags were cut using the dies with the Crumb Cake stamped and coloured.

Lengths of Scalloped Lace Trim, Faux Suede Trim and Crumb Cake from the new Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack add a pretty finishing touch.

As this is the first of a handful of projects I made using this Bundle, more will follow.
