Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Punch Art Dragon

Last week’s Card & Cuppa project, this punch art dragon has a bit of twist.

I hold separate Card & Cuppa for Children projects during the summer holidays and usually design a separate project for them as well. This year, I decided that both the adult and children sessions should make the same project.

The cafe where I hold the sessions for Children has a theme of activities for each week of the holidays and it was ‘Mystical’. This is where the dragon comes in.

I also couldn’t decide on which one I liked, so I made both!

I’d seen similar projects on Pinterest, but they all used Ovals, which we no longer have in punch format. So I did my own take on the designs using punches we have available.

To create the body pattern I used Playful Backgrounds in either Granny Apple Green or Gorgeous Grape.

The clouds are from Lift Me Up and again stamped tone-on-tone in Balmy Blue.

After a bit of cutting out to create the neck piece, several punches are used to create the head, eye socket and nose.

Then it’s smaller circles in Whisper White and Basic Black for the eyes and nose and Classic Label for the fangs. The scales are from the new four-petal flower, cut into four.

It was then a case of putting everything together and attaching the head with Dimensionals.

An optional sentiment from Happy Birthday Gorgeous was the finishing touch.

Both the Card & Cuppa (Adults) and Card & Cuppa for Children attendees created fabulous projects.

Which one would you have made?

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Lift Me Up and Decorative Masks

Last week’s Card & Cuppa project was the final regular card of the year before we start on Christmas cards.

Stampin' Up with HIPPOFROG Designs - Lift me Up

There was a collective ‘ooooh’ when I revealed this card, a good sign!

The cloud Decorative Mask, White Inkpad and Sponge Dauber created the lovely subtle clouds onto the Marina Mist sky and the Dapper Denim strip. We then used the Lift me Up Stamp Set for some tone-on-tone stamping of the smaller balloons.

Next, a length of Whisper White Sheer Ribbon added more texture.  Finally, a bright red large hot-air balloon and a sentiment punched from Real Red Cardstock created a nice contrast to this masculine card.

For the next three weeks, we are making Christmas cards.  If you’d like to join us then make sure you book your place by 18:00 the day before.

Sending smiles across the miles

A very talented friend is off to China this weekend to play a lead role in a musical.

This friend loves sunflowers so the Painted Harvest Stamp Set was the obvious choice.

Stampin' Up! Painted Harvest

I combined Crushed Curry and Chocolate Chip for the sunflowers.  There is Wink of Stella in the centre of each flower for a bit of sparkle too.

‘Sending smiles across the miles’ from the Lift Me Up Stamp Set is a sentiment I never thought I’d use.  As they are way on tour for five months, it was the perfect opportunity to ink it up for the first time.

The sentiment fits nicely into the Pretty Label punch with the new Everyday Label Punch from the Autumn/Winter Catalogue as a background layer.

A strip of Burlap Ribbon across the card for the sentiment to sit on completes the project.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Lift Me Up

I hope you all had a good weekend and are ready for the week ahead.

Last week at Card & Cuppa we made this card that was inspired by a project in the Spring/Summer Catalogue.

Card & Cuppa - Lift Me Up by Stampin' Up!

I made a few changes to the one in the Catalogue as I used a larger card base and left it sentiment free.

The images are from the brand new Lift Me Up Stamp Set and we used a combination of Whisper White and Very Vanilla to make the sky, along with a touch of Sponge Dauber-ing in Soft Sky to make the images pop.

The set comes with matching Thinlits (you can purchase these in a bundle for 10% off).  As we have space issues at some of the Coffee Shops for Card & Cuppa, I don’t take my Big Shot along, so the attendees had to ‘fussy cut’ their balloons and clouds (sorry everyone!)

If you’d like to join us for Card & Cuppa classes then make sure you book your place by 18:00 the day before so that I have enough kits available for everyone. All abilities welcome from beginners to advanced.
