Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – New Horizons DSP

Last week’s Card & Cuppa project is this pretty scene with a New Horizons DSP background.

At these classes, I ask the attendees for ideas of what they would like to make. This project, on page Page 47 of the Jan-Jun Mini Catalogue was suggested.

As I don’t own the Dies used in the sample, I chose other dies to create a similar effect to CASE the project.

If you’re not sure what CASE is, then head to my video on the topic for a quick explanation.

A sheet of New Horizons DSP is cut down for the background. My basecard is Blackberry Bliss, one of the colours from the DSP.

Then, cut out shapes in Basic Black using the Beautiful Trees Dies and Majestic Mountain are stuck onto the DSP.

The Beautiful Tree Dies on Special Offer during March 2022. Make sure you check out the offers on the Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, plus select Dies.

Next, any overhang is cut away and strips of Basic Black are then stuck around the edge of the project to create a frame.

A couple of leaves from the new Bough Punch are cut out in Old Olive and stuck behind two Bumblebee trees, with a sentiment from the Art Gallery Stamp Set sitting on top.

This piece is then raised up on Dimensionals as a finishing touch.

I like how this version has turned out, especially the effect of the DSP at the back of this project, framed by the various dies.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Majestic Mountain Dies to Create a Winter Scene

Our penultimate Card & (Your) Cuppa session of 2020 used Majestic Mountain Dies to create a winter scene.

Majestic Mountain Dies to Create a Winter Scene. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

With a colour combination of Night of Navy, Seaside Spray and Whisper White, the scene began to take shape.

The shapes are all cut using the Majestic Mountains Dies.Majestic Mountain Dies to Create a Winter Scene. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Attendees could choose to create a Night of Navy background, or leave it White. They could also add a snowy top to the mountains too.

Using the top of the mountain shape, the outline is traced and cut out to create the snow, with a freehand curvy line for the bottom of the snow. Wink of Stella adds some icy sparkle before it is stuck to the top of the mountain.

Instead of the straight bottom for the forest, the forest snowline is created by using the bottom of the mountain as an outline.

Everything is then layered to create the scene.

A loop of the Playing With Patterns Combo Ribbon is then added.

Three trees at the front, with the solid one coated in Wink of Stella are stuck together. The solid tree hides the glue used to stick them all together!

These are then stuck on top using Dimensionals.Majestic Mountain Dies to Create a Winter Scene. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Finally, some Champagne Rhinestones are dotted across the sky to resemble stars.

Perfect to use as a Christmas Card, or for a Winter Birthday.

Make sure you take a look at the retiring list for the August-December Mini Catalogue, along with the weekend’s announcement regarding Whisper White.

My schedule for classes for the first part of 2021 is now live. Head to my Class Timetable for full details.

Mostly Men – A Misty Moonlight Scene

Another project from my recent Mostly Men Papercrafting Class is this Misty Moonlight scene.

Misty Moonlight Scene. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

A combination of Misty Moonlight and Night of Navy combine to create the project, with a Daffodil Delight light beam.

The background has texture adding using the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder. I thought this looked like the sea, or night sky.

The lighthouse is from the Smooth Sailing Dies. Using the tree shapes from the Majestic Mountain Dies upside down has given me the rocky outcrop for the lighthouse.

In yesterday’s post, the trees are the ‘right’ way up.

The Daffodil Delight piece is cut into the shape of a shaft of light. This has a sentiment from the Timeless Tulips Stamp Set stamped in Night of Navy.

After attaching the sentiment, all of the overhanging pieces are cut off.

As the piece is embossed, the pieces are all stuck down using Tear and Tape to give a strong hold.

For this project, you can position the lighthouse more centrally and add a shaft of light on both sides. Or leave the shaft of light blank and add a sentiment to another part of the project.

Mostly Men – Majestic Mountain Dies

This is another project from my recent Mostly Men Papercrafting Class.

It reminds me of when I visited the Canadian Rockies.

Majestic Mountain Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I love the simplicity and clean lines of this project.

Using the fabulous Majestic Mountain Dies, the mountain and trees are cut out in Mossy Meadow, Crumb Cake and Old Olive.

A large circle cut from the Layering Circles Dies creates a central focus.

The mountains and tree pieces are layered onto the circle, cutting off the overhang to leave the circle shape.

Majestic Mountain Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Having the smaller, solid tree in front of the more detailed one, helps with attaching it.

By popping some glue on the on the back of the solid tree, this helps to glue the detailed tree to the circle.

Finally, the whole piece is attached using Dimensionals to raise it off the card and create depth.

There is room to add a sentiment too if needed.
