Saying Farewell to 2023-2024 Products

Due to the Easter Bank Holiday, there wasn’t a Card & Cuppa session last week.

So, today I’ve decided to share six projects from the 2023-2024 Annual Catalogue that use some of the products leaving us at the end of the month.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Quiet Meadow Stamp Set & Dies Meets New Colours

At last week’s Card & Cuppa, I chose a similar theme to the previous week in combining a previous Stamp Set with new colours.

This time I chose some of the new blues of Azure Afternoon – new colour, Blueberry Bushel – returning In Color and Balmy Blue, along with Basic White.

Using the Quiet Meadow Stamp Set and coordinating Meadow Dies, I took inspiration from Page 66 of the new Annual Catalogue for my project.

The words and splats are both stamped in Balmy Blue for a background, with the words using second generation stamping.

After stamping the large floral image in Blueberry Bushel, a Blender Pen is used to move some of the colour around and to soften the white. Wink of Stella is then dotted in the centre of each of the flowers.

Azure Afternoon cardstock is used for the stem that is cut out using the Meadow Dies.

An inkpad in the same colour is used for the sentiment.

A ribbon swoosh in silver from the Gold & Silver Trim Combo Pack from the Online Exclusives range sits behind the sentiment that is raised up on Dimensionals.

Finally, some silver Festive Pearls are used to coordinate with the ribbon.

This project would be great in other colours too. Maybe shades of purple or brown.

Finishing Up Friday – Card & (Your) Cuppa Mash Up

This week’s Finishing Up Friday uses the Quiet Meadow Stamp Set and Dies.

I’ve called this project a Card & (Your) Cuppa mash up as it uses the leftover items from this project from last year, but I’ve also take inspiration from a project from this year too.

It uses Rich Razzleberry, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla.

Using some Masking Paper, new in the Annual Catalogue, I created a strip. This is stamped using ‘splats’ from the Quiet Meadow Stamp Set and then given some colour using a Blending Brush and ink.

While using the Blending Brushes, I also added colour to the leaves and flower, cut from the coordinating Meadow Dies, from my ‘use me’ pile.

Once the Masking Paper is gently peeled away, the leaves are stuck to the strip. Some Wink of Stella sparkle is given to the flower before it is raised up on Dimensionals to give some depth.

Another pre-cut shape from my stash, from the All That Dies has a sentiment from the Hello Beautiful Stamp Set stamped onto it. The edge of the shape is given some colour using a Blending Brush.

This has a loop of Crumb Cake Baker’s Twine from the Essentials Combo Pack behind it. The whole sentiment piece is then also stuck to the project using Dimensionals.

Finally, some Champagne Rhinestones create the centre of the flower, with some additional ones dotted across the project.

Which pre-made items are you going to use from your desk?

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Meadow Dies Meets Grid Paper

For last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa project, the Meadow Dies came together with Grid Paper to create this pretty Birthday Card.

Meadow Dies Meets Grid Paper. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

The soft colour palette of Crumb Cake, Mint Macaron and Very Vanilla, give this project a classy look.

By ripping and tearing a piece of Grid Paper to create a mask, the background piece was created using Blending Brushes and Ink. The Grid Paper mask was then used again to create the second colour. This is similar to the project on Page 26 of the Annual Catalogue.

Don’t forget that Grid Paper has lots of different uses. It also comes in two different sizes.

Blending Brushes are also used to give some colour to the flower, cut using the Meadow Dies.

A sentiment from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set is then positioned behind the stem with both the flower and sentiment raised up on Dimensionals.

Next, a bow made from Linen Thread is tied to the stem.

Finally, some Brushed Brass Butterflies from the Mini Catalogue provide an extra touch.

I love how the masked section looks a bit like rock strata. I have a friend who is a geologist, so I’m hoping I have the correct terminology!

Have you seen the fabulous offers for March. Check out a new set of products and some discounted items (including the Meadow Dies I’ve used on this project). Remember that some of these offers are only running through March.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Going Vintage with Meadow Dies

For last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa project, we went vintage.

Going Vintage with Meadow Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I chose a classic colour scheme of Crumb Cake, Rich Razzleberry and Very Vanilla for a vintage feel.

For the background, the Timeworn Type Embossing Folder is coloured with Sponge Daubers in Crumb Cake, with some areas of Rich Razzleberry too.

The focal flowers and butterfly are cut using the Meadow Dies with them given extra depth again using Sponge Daubers.

Also, the main flower is coloured in both Crumb Cake and Rich Razzleberry.

Make sure you check out my Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques video on using Spong Daubers.

Going Vintage with Meadow Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG DesignsTo assemble, a length of Scalloped Lace Trim is looped and adhered to the background piece.

Then, the leaves are stuck down.

Happy Birthday is from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set and cut into two pieces before being stuck onto the flower stem.

Using Glue at the bottom of the flower and Mini Dimensionals at the top, the flower is then attached.

Finally, the butterfly is added with a Mini Dimensional.

A Vintage Look With Quiet Meadow

If you are a fan of vintage look projects, this one definitely ticks the box.
A Vintage Look With Quiet Meadow. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

My colour combination is Rich Razzleberry, Soft Suede, Blushing Bride and Very Vanilla. I tend to use Very Vanilla for these types of projects as it gives a more muted tone.

Check out my video on Basic White or Very Vanilla for more information.

First, I created the background using the Quiet Meadow Stamp Set. The stamping is quite random across the page, with a variety of first and second generation for the words and splats.

Next, using a Blending Brush, I added extra ink to the edges of the project to create the vintage feel.

A Vintage Look With Quiet Meadow. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

The sentiment is cut out using the coordinating Meadow Dies. Don’t forget that the Stamp Set and Dies come as a Bundle in the Annual Cataloge.

Very Vanilla Baker’s Twine from the Essentials Pack is threaded through each of the holes in the sentiment shape.

I used Mini Dimensionals on the back of the sentiment to pop it off the page before securing the ends of the Baker’s Twine.

This is a quick and easy project to make and came together in no time at all. You could also add embellishments too.

New Timeworn Type Meets Quiet Meadow

The new Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder in the new July-December Mini Catalogue is something you may have missed.

Timeworn Type meets Quiet Meadow. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

It makes the most gorgeous backgrounds. Personally, I find it suits more vintage style projects, like the one I’ve made here.

My colour combination is Crumb Cake, Merry Merlot and Very Vanilla.

The background is embossed with the folder and I’ve used a Blending Brush to add some Crumb Cake ink over the raised type.

Using the Quiet Meadow Bundle (Quiet Meadow Stamp Set & Meadow Dies) the background leaf is cut out. This is also given a hint of extra colour using a Blending Brush.

Three flowers from the Quiet Meadow Stamp Set are stamped and then colored using Blender Pens. These are cut out by hand.

A length of coordinating Crumb Cake Baker’s Twine from the Essentials Pack is looped behind the flowers.

Finally, the flowers are stuck together as a ground and then raised up on Dimensionals.

I chose to leave this card sentiment free as I think it will suit any occasion.

Meadow Dies Revisited

At a recent Card & (Your Cuppa), the project used the Meadow Dies.

For this Meadow Dies revisited project, I’ve taken the same items and made the project again, with a few changes.

Meadow Dies Revisited. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Once again, there is a Pale Papaya and Basic White Colour scheme

Rather than for an anniversary, I chose to make this version for a Birthday, so there is the addition of Pear Pizzazz.

Meadow Dies Revisited. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

This time I’ve coloured the Basic White die cut pieces with Sponge Daubers.

For the sentiment, it uses the Timeless Tulips Stamp Set.

Again, the same elements of Wink of Stella on the Butterfly, plus the Fine Art Ribbon and Opal Rounds all add a touch of sparkle.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Meadow Dies

At a previous Card & (Your) Cuppa session, I was asked if we create an Anniversary Card.

Not wishing to disappoint, here is last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa project.

Meadow Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

It uses the Meadow Dies, plus the Expressions In Ink Specialty DSP, both new items from the Annual Catalogue.

I chose Pale Papaya and Basic White for my colour combination, with Gold Fine Art Ribbon.

Meadow Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Each of the die cut pieces are layered to create a bouquet feel, with the front ones raised up at the top using Dimensionals.

For the sentiment, I have stamped the ‘Happy Anniversary’ from the Many Messages Stamp Set in Pale Papaya onto the label shape from the Meadow Dies. This lays across the Fine Art Ribbon.

The butterfly has a coat of Wink of Stella for some sparkle.

Meadow Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Finally, a few Opal Rounds are stuck around the bouquet to give some extra bling.

Quiet Meadow Bundle Butterflies

I’ve been loving playing with the new Quiet Meadow Bundle (Quiet Meadow Stamp Set & Meadow Dies) from the new Annual Catalogue.

Quiet Meadow Bundle Butterflies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

This project uses Gray Granite stamping with Crushed Curry and Coastal Cabana. Basic White and Granny Apple Green are the accent colours.

The flower image is stamped multiple times along the bottom in Gray Granite. These are then coloured using Watercolor Pencils. I’ve used pack 2 here for the Crushed Curry, Coastal Cabana and Granny Apple Green pencils.

My personal preference is to use grey or brown outline colours when I’m colouring as I like the effect these lighter tones give, rather than the harshness of black. However, neither is right or wrong, crafting is all about personal choice.

Quiet Meadow Bundle Butterflies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Next, butterflies are cut out using the dies and given a coating of Wink of Stella for some sparkle.

Using Glue Dots on the bodies allows the wings to pop up and look like they are flying.

Quiet Meadow Bundle Butterflies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I’ve left my card sentiment free, but it would be easy to add one.

As it’s an easy project to create, the colouring is quite relaxing. You could even make a batch of different colours.

Take a look at my Class Timetable for details of my online classes. This Stamp Set may be making a Stamp Set of The Month appearance soon…
