March Card Making Class – Project 3

This is the third project from my recent Card Making Class.

The theme for the class was ‘Backgrounds and more’, so I chose to use the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder from the Annual Catalogue.

Once the piece of Basic White cardstock had been embossed, we used a Brayer to very quickly colour the brickwork.

This colouring technique is something I haven’t used at class before, so it was a great learning experience for the attendees.

Three flowers from the Natural Botanicals Stamp Set were stamped onto Petunia Pop cardstock and three sets of leaves from the Choose Happy Stamp Set were stamped onto Granny Apple Green cardstock. Secret Sea was used for all of the stamping on this project.

These were all cut out by hand with the centre of the flowers coloured with a black journalling pen.

They were then stuck to two layered circles from the Online Exclusives range, one in Real Red to coordinate with the brick brayering and the card layer.

A sentiment from the Simply Said Stamp Set is then also attached to the back circles.

This whole piece was then attached to the background wall using Dimensionals.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Natural Botanicals Rainbow

As we’ve had so much rain lately, I decided to brighten things up at last week’s Card & Cuppa class with this rainbow project.

It uses tone-on-tone with a colour combination of Basic Beige and Very Vanilla.

A strip of cardstock was held across the project while the leaves were stamped across the background. This was to avoid losing leaves behind the centre strip.

The leaves are from the Natural Botanicals Stamp Set. They were then coloured using Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen.

It was fun seeing this rainbow of leaves come to life during the colouring phase.

Next, a strip of Very Vanilla is stuck across the project to hide the masking. Any excess is then cut off.

Then, the sentiment from the Simply Said Stamp Set is stamped, again tone-on-tone and stuck onto the Vanilla piece. Once again, the excess is removed.

Finally, a couple of Antique Pearls are added to either side of the project.

This is a great design to replicate and you could use different colours and stamp sets.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – A Leafy Celebration

For last week’s Card & Cuppa class, I chose to design a more neutral project.

This project used the Natural Botanicals Stamp Set for the leaves and the Beautiful Butterflies Stamp Set for the sentiment.

As I wanted this to be a more neutral project, suitable for anyone, I used a combination of Old Olive and Basic White.

First, the larger leaves were stamped onto the backround with the stems towards the centre. These would be covered later.

Next, three smaller leaves were then stamped onto a separate piece.

All of the leaves were coloured with Watercolor Pencils, using both packs 1 and 2.

Each of the smaller leaves were then cut out (fussy cutting) and stuck behind the large Old Olive strip across the centre. Only the stem of the leaves were stuck to allow for a more 3D effect. Overhanging edges of the strip were cut away. This piece covered the stems from earlier.

Finally, the sentiment was stamped onto a Basic White Strip and added to the top of the Old Olive piece, again with the overhang cut away.

I think this project would look great in other colour ways, blues, browns, purples etc. Which colours would you choose?

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Natural Botanicals Stamp Set

Last week’s Card & Cuppa class was my first session in 4 weeks. This was due to Easter, my holiday and then the Spring Bank Holiday.

For the design, I chose florals from the Natural Botanicals Stamp Set. This item has carried over to the new Annual Catalogue that launched while I was away.

All of the stamping for this project is in Basic Beige onto Lemon Lolly Cardstock.

The background flowers were stamped and then coloured using Watercolor Pencils. We didn’t blend the colouring as using a Blender Pen would have made the colours look ‘muddy’ due to the details in the stamped images.

Wink of Stella was used in the centre of each flower.

A strip of Daffodil Delight Cardstock was used as a layer for the sentiment from the Simply Said Stamp Set. I’m so happy this stamp set has also carried over to the Annual Catalogue, as I use it quite a lot.

The ends were trimmed off before adding the thinner stamped piece on top.

Finally, some Antique Pearls were added for a touch of bling.

I couldn’t decide on a colour way for this project so designed one in yellow and one in pink. The attendees then decided which version they wanted to make.

Which colour would you have chosen?

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Natural Botanicals

At last week’s Card & Cuppa Class, we used another new Stamp Set from the Mini Catalogue.

This Stamp Set is Natural Botanicals and is part of the Reversibles range.

Reversibles are specially designed to allow you to stamp using both sides of the stamp set. You get both a detailed image and a block image from the same stamp.

For this project, I used Lost Lagoon, Pretty Peacock, Basic Beige and Crushed Curry for the stamping. I also used Daffodil Delight for the colouring, all on a background of Basic White.

First, the sentiment, from the Cake Fancy Stamp Set is stamped. Followed by the leaves across one side of the project.

Next, the flowers were stamped on a circle cut out using a Circle Punch from the Online Exclusives range.

These were coloured using the Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends Combo Pack. The flowers were also given a little touch of Wink of Stella in their centres.

A length of coordinating Bordered Ribbon was stuck across the centre.

After layering the flower circle onto a larger circle, also cut out using a Circle Punch from the Online Exclusives range, this was attached using Dimensionals.

Finally, coordinating Sequins from the Sequins Trio Pack were added.
