Countdown to Christmas 2022 – Week 9

Week 9 of this year’s Countdown to Christmas series is also my final Christmas Card Club project of 2022.

It’s become a bit of a tradition for me to design a poinsettia Christmas Card, so I couldn’t resist adding one for my final Christmas Card Club project.

This card is a CASE of this previous project.

I chose a traditional colour combination of Real Red, Garden Green and Very Vanilla, with Gold Ribbon.

Lengths of the Gold Shimmer Ribbon are made to look like a present. This ribbon is on the Last Chance Products list as it is retiring from the July-December Mini Catalogue. Make sure you grab items on the list quickly as they may even be sold out by now.

The poinsettia is created using the Spruced Up Outline Dies, which are also on the retiring list.

These pieces are layered together on top of a shape cut from the Layering Circles Dies.

A sentiment, from the retiring Penguin Place Stamp Set sits behind the circle. It has the ends cut into a banner shape.

Finally, a Glossy Dot in Daffodil Delight creates the centre of the poinsettia.

Countdown to Christmas 2022 – Week 7

This week’s Countdown to Christmas 2022 project sees the return of the penguins.

The Penguin Place Stamp Set and Penguin Builder Punch returned in the July-December Mini Catalogue.

Instead of using traditional Christmas colours, I’ve chosen to use Fresh Freesia, with Black and Pumpkin Pie for the Penguin.

For the background, I made a colour flare using Blending Brushes. This was then over stamped with the snowflakes from the Stamp Set.

Using both the Stamp Set and Punch, the various parts of the penguin are assembled.

I’t sits in the centre of the project using Dimensionals over a coordinating ribbon swoosh.

Finally, some Iridescent Rhinestones are added for a touch of festive sparkle.

Countdown to Christmas 2022 – Week 4

We are now at week 4 of this year’s Countdown to Christmas series.

For this project, I chose a monochrome look with Starry Sky and Basic White.

The images are from the Mountain Air Stamp Set and the Penguin Place Stamp Set, one festive and one non festive. Penguin Place is a returning favourite from last year and can be found in the July-December Mini Catalogue.

First, a background of stars is created from the Penguin Place Stamp Set, along with the Christmas sentiment in the bottom corner.

Next, the Starry Sky strip is stamped both tone-on-tone and with White Ink for a forest scene. The trees are from the Mountain Air Stamp Set. A few more stars are added to this piece.

This is then stuck across the background piece.

More trees and stars are stamped onto a circle cut from the Stylish Shapes Dies.

All of the stars are given a touch of Wink of Stella, along with the trees to give the appearance of frost.

Finally a few Rhinestones are added for a touch of extra sparkle.

Wedding Congratulations

Here is the card I made some friends for their recent wedding.

As I helped design and make their wedding stationery, I knew their colour scheme, so wanted to match it.

We have Fresh Freesia, Gray Granite and Basic White.

They liked the Gray Granite as it was on this card I made them for their engagement.

There were lots of hearts on their stationery, so I have stuck with that theme, but used different products.

To begin with, I chose to design a square card.

I used Blending Brushes to create a masked strip down the centre of the background piece, with the colours joining together, as they are in marriage.

Across the card, I then stamped some tiny hearts in Versamark with an image from the Penguin Place Stamp Set. I embossed these using Clear Embossing Powder and a Heat Tool.

You can’t see the hearts very well in the pictures, but you can see them in the right light.

For the hearts, I die cut shapes using the Artisan Additions Dies and stuck these onto matching cardstock. The hearts were then cut out using the Heart Punch Pack.

These were raised up on Dimensionals.

A simple sentiment sits across the bottom, similar to their thank you card design.

Finally, a few of the pretty Heart Pearls add some more hearts to the card.

Countdown to Christmas 2021 #7

The 7th project in my Countdown to Christmas 2021 series is this card from my recent ‘Crack Your Christmas Cards’ class.

At the class there were 16 cards to make, 4 each of 4 different designs. This is the first project.

It’s similar to this poinsettia project I shared a few weeks ago. I love reusing designs, it’s such a quick and easy way of making something new.

All of the projects from the class use the Penguin Place Bundle (Penguin Place Stamp Set & Penguin Builder Punch from the Mini Catalogue.

In the Class Kit, the attendees also received some Glittered Organdy Ribbon and Holiday Rhinestones, as well as all the cardstock they needed.

My colour combination is Night of Navy, Coastal Cabana and Basic White, plus Basic Black and Pumpkin Pie for the penguin.

To begin, the background is randomly stamped, using the snowflakes and star images from the set.

Then, lengths of the ribbon are added to look like a present.

The penguin is stamped and punched out using the Bundle, plus a hat and scarf are fussy cut.

Two shapes are cut using the Essential Tag Punch. These are offset and the penguin is then adhered on top.

This section is raised up using Dimensionals.

Finally, a few coordinating Holiday Rhinestones are added to the project.

Countdown to Christmas 2021 #5

It’s time for project 5 in my Countdown to Christmas 2021 series and I’ve created this poinsettia Christmas Card.

Many of you will know that I love a poinsettia project for Christmas.

In fact, it has become tradition that there is a poinsettia project at my annual Special Christmas Cards Class.

This card uses a traditional Real Red and Old Olive colour combination.

For the background, I’ve used a Blending Brush to create a red area behind the poinsettia.

A couple of lengths of the pretty Gold Shimmer ribbon create the present effect. This then has a tag cut from the Tailor Made Tags dies, stamped with a sentiment from the Penguin Place Stamp Set. It’s attached at the outer end using Dimensionals.

The Poinsettia Dies provide the focal piece. These pieces are layered together in an offset way. Using Tear & Tape, this is stuck to the project.

Finally, a touch of Wink of Stella and a sequin from the Expressions in Ink Ephemera Pack add some sparkle to the centre.

For National Black Cat Day

As today is National Black Cat Day, I couldn’t not share these cute kitties! National Black Cat Day. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs Using a Basic Black, Mango Melody and Pumpkin Pie colour combination, I set about creating these fun felines.

First, the background is stamped tone-on-tone using the star image from the Penguin Place Stamp Set. These are then given some sparkle with some Wink of Stella.

Next, the top Basic Black layer has holes cut in it using the Picture This Dies. This is turned into a wall using the Brick & Mortar Embossing Folder. I have given it some extra depth using a White Ink Pad and a Sponge Dauber.

The new Halloween Punch from the July-December Mini Catalogue provides the cat faces. For the tails, these are cut using the Cat Punch and stuck behind the holes.

Each cat is then stuck to the back of a hole to allow it to peep through.

Using Dimensionals, the whole black piece, with the attached cats is then added.

A bow made from Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack is popped into one of the smaller holes.

Finally, In Color Jewels make the cat eyes and some additional sparkle within the holes.

SSOTM with Penguin Place – Project 6

Today I’m sharing the final project from this month’s SSOTM Class.

It’s the second of the two bonus projects those who opted for the Class Bundle received.

It uses the Class Bundle of the Penguin Place Stamp Set and Penguin Builder Punch from the Mini Catalogue.

The colours are Fresh Freesia, Balmy Blue and Basic White, with Black and Pumpkin Pie for the penguins.

The tags are cut using the Fancy Tag Topper Punch. Each is stamped with images from the Class Stamp Set and then has pieces of Glittered Organdy Ribbon, tied on with Baker’s Twine looped through them.

A thank you sentiment is added to the bottom of the white tag.

Next, the outer tags are stuck down, with the middle tag raised up on Dimensionals.

Finally, the trio of penguins are added to the trio of tags.

Countdown to Christmas 2021 #4

Countdown to Christmas 2021 project 4 is the first bonus project from October’s SSOTM and it’s obviously another penguin card.

I’ve used Balmy Blue and Basic White, with Black and Pumpkin Pie for the penguins.

The Bark 3D Embossing Folder makes a great water effect for the background.

Then, a piece of ice is created using the Layering Diorama Dies. My sentiment from the Penguin Place Stamp Set is stamped onto it. You can use any sentiment you like.

Next, it’s time to stamp and punch out the penguins using the Penguin Place Stamp Set and Penguin Builder Punch from the Mini Catalogue. This is where you can add hats, scarves, bow-ties, bows too.

They are all placed to look like they are peering out from behind the ice. To make them look like they are sticking up from the water a little, I’ve only stuck the bottom part of the penguins down, leaving their heads unglued.

Finally, some of the clear circle gems from the class kit are added for a touch of sparkle.

SSOTM with Penguin Place – Project 4

The final project from October’s SSOTM Online Class was referred to as ‘Penguin Pile-Up’!

I’ve taken inspiration for it from the Mini Catalogue, but I’ve added my own fun twist.

My colour combination of Balmy Blue and Fresh Freesia are from the class colour scheme.

The snow drift stamp from the Class Penguin Place Bundle is stamped several times down the page to look like a snowy scene.

Then, lengths of Baker’s Twine from the class kit are added to the bottom.

Each of the forward facing penguins are stamped and punched and have feet and clothing adding as required.

For the top penguin, this is cut out using the Penguin Builder Punch from Basic Black cardstock and has some feet added.

The penguins are then arranged and stuck down.

Next, a sentiment is added over the Baker’s Twine.

Finally, some droplets in silver are added to the piece. There was discussion over whether I had put these the right way up, but I went with them looking like icicles with a wider top, than raindrops!
