Polished Pink for an 18th Birthday

A young lady reached adulthood last week, so I created this Birthday Card for her.

My colour combination is Polished Pink, Basic Black and Basic White.

The background uses the Biggest Wish Stamp Set with the words randomly stamped.

These are then joined by several stars, cut using the Stitched Stars Dies.

An ’18’ cut from the Playful Alphabet Dies is then given a coat of Wink of Stella before being stuck to the central star.

Both of these sets of Dies are on the Last Chance list and stock is only available until 2nd May, while stocks last.

Coordinating In Color Ribbon is looped and the central star sits on top using Dimensionals.

Finally, some In Color Jewels add some coordinating sparkle.

Another project from my Special Christmas Cards online Class is the 11th project in my Countdown to Christmas 2021 series.

Every year, one of these cards is suitable for children. This fun easel card is the one for this year.

It starts of as a rooftop and when it is open, it shows the chimney and Santa’s feet sticking out.

Each side of the fold is tiled using Poppy Parade, Cherry Cobler and Cajun Craze. The snow on the ridge and chimney is from the Penned Flowers Dies.

For the chimney, Gray Granite is embossed with the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder.

Santa’s legs are made from Poppy Parade, edged with Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon. Basic Black boots are cut using the ghost shape from the Halloween Punch. This punch is on the Last Chance Products list, so make sure you don’t miss out on getting your hands on one.

To secure the easel card when it is opened, ‘Ho Ho Ho’ is cut out using the Playful Alphabet Dies. Each of the letters is coated in Wink of Stella before being stuck to the Basic White piece.

This piece is attached using Dimensionals to ensure the card sits in place.

Expressions in Ink for a 50th

Today I’m sharing a card for another 50th Birthday being celebrated this September.

I thought it was the perfect time to take inspiration from the project on the front cover of the Annual Catalogue.

It uses the Expressions in Ink Suite Collection. The two pieces of DSP create a background.

Using Gold Foil Sheets, the ’50’ is cut from the Playful Alphabet Dies, with the leaves from the Artistic Dies from the Suite. This coordinates with the gold foiling running through the DSP.

The flowers from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set are stamped in Polished Pink to coordinate with the DSP, with the leaves in Pear Pizzazz. These are all cut using the Dies.

Each piece is then layered together, along with a length of Gold Shimmer Ribbon. A sentiment then sits on top of the roses.

Finally, a touch of Wink of Stella is added to the centre of the flowers, with sequins from the Ephemera Pack dotted around the project.

A Fabulous 50th

A very good friend celebrated their 50th Birthday earlier this week.

As they are a fan of Crumb Cake, Rich Razzleberry and sparkle, my colour combination was easy to decide.

I chose to make a square card and I used lots of different products to create this project.

The images and die cutting are from the Artistically Inked Bundle (Artistically Inked Stamp Set and Artistic Dies), Quiet Meadow Stamp Set and the Playful Alphabet Dies.

To begin, the background piece was stamped with the small flowers from Artistically Inked, plus some splats from Quiet Meadow.

This was then run through the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder. Next, using a Blending Brush, I gave a vintage feel to the background. I like how it looks like dried flowers.

Different generations of stamping create the flowers for the centre piece.

The layering begins with the die cut leaves, then the Fine Art Ribbon and Glitter Organdy Ribbon. As there isn’t a Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Blend Combo, the light Blackberry Bliss Blend was a good substitute to colour the ribbon.

I then layered the flowers together on a separate piece of cardstock and popped some more die cut leaf pieces around them. Raising the whole piece up on Dimensionals added a lot more depth.

’50’ is coated in Wink of Stella and added to the corner. Again, using Dimensionals, the sentiment lays across the flowers. As this project was being hand delivered, I used several layers of Dimensionals.

Finally, some Metallic Pearls are dotted around the project.

Two Cards For a Pair of Teenagers – Card 2

Yesterday, I shared a Birthday card I’d made for a teenager.

Here is the second project that appeared from the first.

Obviously, it uses the same colour combination of Mango Meloday and Basic Black.

This project uses the cut out from the words from the first card to create the ‘HAPPY’ outline for this one.

It just needed a curve cutting into it, again using the Home Together Dies. If I’d thought earlier, both curves could have been cut at the same time from one piece.

Once again, the sentiment is from the Well Said Stamp Set with shaping on the end using the Banners Pick a Punch.

I love it when things like this happen in crafting.

Two Cards For a Pair of Teenagers – Card 1

I mentioned previously that November is a busy month for Birthdays.

Here is the first of two cards for a pair of teenagers I have recently made. They were born within a few weeks of each other, so I normally create the same design for them.

When I had the idea for the project, I didn’t realise that it was going to form a second project too. A kind of 2-for-1.

I choose a Basic Black and Mango Melody monochrome colour scheme.

As the design is for a teenage boy, I chose to make it slightly abstract.

‘HAPPY’ is cut from the Playful Alphabets Dies, with the curved line from the Home Together Dies. These dies are in the Year End Closeout Sale that begins today. Make sure you take a look at all the discounted items.

The Basic Black curved piece is stuck on top of the Mango Melody layer.

Then, ‘HAPPY’ is carefully glued along the curve using wet glue.

Finally, a sentiment from the Well Said Stamp Set with ends shaped using the Banners Pick a Punch is added.

This Punch will not be available from 5th January, but will be back in May as it is carrying over to the 2021 Annual Catalogue. Check out all the items that will be taking a short break.

Helping Another Local Business Say Thank You

I recently played my part in helping another local business say thank you to some loyal customers who have been supporting them during the pandemic.

The business is a local Coffee Shop, where I held my regular craft classes pre-Coronavirus.

They wanted to thank a team of staff from a large organisation who have regularly been ordering cakes.

This project is my interpretation of their departmental logo and you might even spot the organisation in the text too!

My colours to reflect the logo are Bermuda Bay, Granny Apple Green, Magenta Madness and Blackberry Bliss, with Whisper White.

For the shapes, the Geared Up Garage Stamp Set provides the larger images. Smaller images and the tiny splats are from the Waterfront Stamp Set.

On top of the stamping, is a sentiment made from the Playful Alphabet Dies. Each letter is coated in Wink of Stella to give a lot of sparkle. You can see this in more detail in the picture below.

Finally, Rhinestones are added for even more sparkle.

I can’t wait to get back to crafting at the Coffee Shop again.

A Box of Birthday Balloons

For my Niece’s recent lockdown 18th, I made this box of birthday balloons.

I haven’t made a pop-up box for a while, so I thought it was the perfect occasion.

These lay flat for postage with the box flaps up, then, when the recipient opens it, the flaps fall down and the box takes shape.

My colour combination is from the dotty Playing With Patterns DSP I have used. It’s Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Purple Posy and Whisper White.

Coastal Cabana is the main colour for the box. Using the Detailed Trio Punch, I rounded the corners of the box and the DSP.

The balloons, cut using the Balloon Bouquet Punch are embossed. Tasteful Textile and Wrapped in Texture Embossing Folders create the fun patterns.

Attaching the balloons to the strings I made from the Hippo & Friends Dies was made easier by sandwiching them between the embossed ballon and a plain balloon shape.

This also means that when it lays flat, the balloons don’t stick to each other.

I popped three strips across the inside of the box. This not only gave me something to attach the ballons too, but provided some extra rigidity.

As I attached the balloons to the strips, I was carefully checking they wouldn’t foul each other, or overhang the edge too far when folded.

Once I was happy with the positions, I sandwiched the bottom of the strings in with another piece of Coastal Cabana Cardstock.

There had to be an ’18’, so using Silver Foil Sheets, this and the sentiment were cut out. Playful Alphabet Dies for the ’18’ and Well Written Dies for the sentiment.
