Birthday Card for my Dad

As you know, I’m a little bit in love with the SAB Springtime Foils DSP. So, I just had to use when I made this Birthday Card for my Dad.

This DSP is the star of the show so I kept the design clean and simple.

A Sponge Brayer with Dapper Denim and then Night of Navy create the ombre effect. I then chose a strip of Burlap Ribbon and a cute True Gentleman Button tied with Linen Thread.

The ‘Happy Birthday’ from Picture Perfect Birthday is cut with the Classic Label Punch. This is layered onto a Dapper Denim Tailored Tag Punch shape.

Colourful Dragonflies

If you saw last week’s Card & Cuppa project, you’ll know about the SAB Springtime Foils DSP.

At my most recent Stamp-a-Stack class, I just had to design a project using it.

SAB Springtime Foils from Stampin' Up! with HIPPOFROG Designs

This no stamping project uses Sponge Daubers and ink pads to colour the dotty piece of DSP. As the DSP is glossy, it blends the colour really nicely. Wisteria Wonder, Bermuda Bay, Sweet Sugarplum and So Saffron is the colour combination used here. Don’t forget to wipe off any excess ink from the dots.

As it’s the background on this project that is the star, it just needed the dragonflies die-cutting and attaching to the project with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. They just fit behind the dragonfly bodies to make them look like they are flying off the card.

I adore this Springtime Foils DSP and will be sad when it goes at the end of the month.  Make sure you get your hands on these fabulous items before the end of SAB.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – SAB Springtime Foils

For last week’s Card & Cuppa project, I designed a card using the fabulous SAB Springtime Foils DSP.

SAB Springtime Foils from Stampin' Up! Project from a HIPPOFROG Designs Card & Cuppa Class

This stunning DSP is thicker than usual and has 3 sheets of 4 different single-sided designs.  Each design has embossed patterns in either gold, rose gold, silver, or a mix, and they are perfect for colouring.

For this project we used the Sponge Brayers to add two colours to make a pretty ombre effect.  It’s important to use a tissue to remove the excess ink from the embossed foil areas, to avoid inky fingers!

As I didn’t want to detract from the background too much, I chose a simple design to create flowers using the Paint Play Stamp Set.

A strip of Sheer Ribbon in Whisper White and co-ordinating Silver Baker’s Twine cross the project and are perfect for the flowers to sit on.

Inking the edges of the sentiment with the Sponge Brayer continues the two-tone effect.

To carry on the silver and sparkle, Wink of Stella has been applied to the swirls on the flowers.
