Countdown to Christmas 2021 #4

Countdown to Christmas 2021 project 4 is the first bonus project from October’s SSOTM and it’s obviously another penguin card.

I’ve used Balmy Blue and Basic White, with Black and Pumpkin Pie for the penguins.

The Bark 3D Embossing Folder makes a great water effect for the background.

Then, a piece of ice is created using the Layering Diorama Dies. My sentiment from the Penguin Place Stamp Set is stamped onto it. You can use any sentiment you like.

Next, it’s time to stamp and punch out the penguins using the Penguin Place Stamp Set and Penguin Builder Punch from the Mini Catalogue. This is where you can add hats, scarves, bow-ties, bows too.

They are all placed to look like they are peering out from behind the ice. To make them look like they are sticking up from the water a little, I’ve only stuck the bottom part of the penguins down, leaving their heads unglued.

Finally, some of the clear circle gems from the class kit are added for a touch of sparkle.

SSOTM with Penguin Place – Project 4

The final project from October’s SSOTM Online Class was referred to as ‘Penguin Pile-Up’!

I’ve taken inspiration for it from the Mini Catalogue, but I’ve added my own fun twist.

My colour combination of Balmy Blue and Fresh Freesia are from the class colour scheme.

The snow drift stamp from the Class Penguin Place Bundle is stamped several times down the page to look like a snowy scene.

Then, lengths of Baker’s Twine from the class kit are added to the bottom.

Each of the forward facing penguins are stamped and punched and have feet and clothing adding as required.

For the top penguin, this is cut out using the Penguin Builder Punch from Basic Black cardstock and has some feet added.

The penguins are then arranged and stuck down.

Next, a sentiment is added over the Baker’s Twine.

Finally, some droplets in silver are added to the piece. There was discussion over whether I had put these the right way up, but I went with them looking like icicles with a wider top, than raindrops!

SSOTM with Penguin Place – Project 3

The third project from October’s SSOTM Class is full of holes!

It uses the Picture This Dies to create the circle cut out in Fresh Freesia.

A present, balloon and snowflakes are stamped in Balmy Blue onto a backing piece for them to be seen through the holes, along with the birthday sentiment.

The Penguin Place Stamp Set and Penguin Builder Punch Bundle also provide the penguins. These are stuck on the back to peek through their holes before lots of Dimensionals are added to the back.

It is then stuck to the white backing piece, before the whole section is attached to the base card.

Finishing touches of a Baker’s Twine bow and some Silver Epoxy embellishments are added.

The third project in my Countdown to Christmas 2021 series is a project from this week’s SSOTM Class.

At least one of the projects from the class was designed with Christmas in mind. Who couldn’t love this cute scene?

Along with the Penguin Place Stamp Set and Penguin Punch Bundle from the Mini Catalogue, it uses the retired SAB Penguin Playmates DSP. If you have this DSP in your stash, this is a great project to make.

You will notice the design is similar to the project in the SAB Brochure.

Using the snow drift stamp from the set, this is stamped several times onto the white piece of card. I then cut along the top line and stuck it onto a piece of Balmy Blue, stamped tone-on-tone with the snowflakes image. This gives the impression of a snowy scene.

Just Jade provide the trees, with one cut out and stuck behind the snow at the top.

Each of the animals are cut out, the penguin with the punch and the others by hand. These are then stuck onto the scene, with the fox raised on Dimensionals at the front. A Just Jade hat is then added to the polar bear.

My sentiment is stamped onto a shape from the Messages Die and this sits on a swoosh of the Baker’s Twine from the Class Kit.

Finally, the silver diamond gems from the Silver & Clear Epoxy Essentials are dotted across the sky to look like stars.

SSOTM with Penguin Place – Project 1

Earlier this week, it was October’s Stamp Set of the Month Class.

All of the projects were based around the Penguin Place Stamp Set and Penguin Punch Bundle from the Mini Catalogue.

The class colours were Fresh Freesia, Balmy Blue and Just Jade, with Black, Basic White and Pumpkin Pie for the penguins.

Attendees also had Basic White Baker’s Twine from Essentials Pack and some Silver & Clear Epoxy Essentials.

There were four projects taught at the class, with another 2 bonus projects available for those who purchased the Class Bundle.

Balloons and parcels were stamped onto the Basic White piece, with the penguin, a bow tie and two other balloons stamped separately.

A Birthday sentiment is added to one of the balloons and these are cut out, along with the bowtie.

Strings for the balloons are stamped and meet behind the penguin.

After punching out the penguin, the feet and bowtie are added.

Then, the penguin and balloons are raised up on Dimensionals.

Finally, some of round clear embellishments from the class kit are added for some extra Birthday bling!

I love how versatile these penguins are. You can use any colour for the extra items to coordinate with your project.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Monochrome with Strawberry Builder Punch

As you know, I’m a fan of monochrome projects, so it was lovely to design one for last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa Class.

The new FREE SAB Beautifully Penned DSP provides the background and the petals.

Using the Strawberry Builder Punch, the strawberries are cut out to create petals. The smaller flower and leaves are cut out using the punch too.

Each of the strawberries are arranged to create the flower. Strawberries aren’t just for eating!

A coating of Wink of Stella is added to the smaller flower before it creates the centre of the flower.

The leaves are scored down the centre and folder slightly, before they are attached to the back.

A length of the fabulous Black and White Gingham Ribbon is atttached. Then the flower sits on top of it.

My sentiment is from the Art Gallery Stamp Set and tucks in behind the flower. Monochrome with Strawberry Builder Punch. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Finally, some Silver & Clear Epoxy Essentials are placed in the centre of the flower and around the card.

I really like how the different patterns of black and work on this project. You could easily add a splash of colour if you wanted.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Sea Life Dies – again!

At last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa, we used the Sea Life Dies – again!

From the previous week’s project, there were some leftover pieces from the Layering Diorama Dies. It seemed silly not to use them in another design.

So, rather than just fish, this design uses the seahorse.

Once again, I’ve also added a shape from the Smooth Sailing Dies, the seaweed.

The colours are also similar to before with Balmy Blue, Coastal Cabana and Pool Party for the water.

Seaweed and coral are in Calypso Coral and Old Olive, with the fish in Pumpkin Pie.

My sentiment is from the Art Gallery Stamp Set. I would love to change it to ‘Best Fishes!’

Sea Life Dies - again! Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

After adding the sentiment and positioning the water pieces, seaweed and coral. It was time to concentrate on the seahorse.

Using Sponge Daubers, Pumpkin Pie and So Saffron, I coloured the seahorse while it was still in the piece it was die-cut to. This die-cut shape is slightly different as it doesn’t cut all the way out, to allow you to use it in a variety of ways.

Once I had coloured it, I cut through the different points to release it. I then attached it using Dimensionals to raise it up, with the tail wrapped around a piece of coral.

The small fish are then placed at the top, by the sentiment.

Finally, some clear shapes from Silver & Clear Epoxy Essentials are dotted around to look like bubbles.

A Very Tasteful Thank You

This Very Tasteful Thank You is a quick and simple project to make. It’s great if you need to create multiples, or need a card in a rush.

It uses the In Good Taste DSP and the Tasteful Labels Dies, hence the ‘very tasteful’ description!

I chose a Crumb Cake and Early Espresso colour combination to coordinate with the DSP.

Using the more angled dies from the Tasteful Labels Dies, these pieces are layered on top of a piece of Faux Suede Trim.
