March Card Making Class – Project 3

This is the third project from my recent Card Making Class.

The theme for the class was ‘Backgrounds and more’, so I chose to use the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder from the Annual Catalogue.

Once the piece of Basic White cardstock had been embossed, we used a Brayer to very quickly colour the brickwork.

This colouring technique is something I haven’t used at class before, so it was a great learning experience for the attendees.

Three flowers from the Natural Botanicals Stamp Set were stamped onto Petunia Pop cardstock and three sets of leaves from the Choose Happy Stamp Set were stamped onto Granny Apple Green cardstock. Secret Sea was used for all of the stamping on this project.

These were all cut out by hand with the centre of the flowers coloured with a black journalling pen.

They were then stuck to two layered circles from the Online Exclusives range, one in Real Red to coordinate with the brick brayering and the card layer.

A sentiment from the Simply Said Stamp Set is then also attached to the back circles.

This whole piece was then attached to the background wall using Dimensionals.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Floral Two-Step

At last week’s Card & Cuppa class I combined two requests I had received for projects.

I had been asked for floral and also two-step stampin’, so this project combines both of those things.

My colour combination is Fresh Freesia, Pool Party and Gorgeous Grape. It’s a great combo.

First, the swirled circles from the Swirled Designs Stamp Set are stamped on the background. This stamp set is in the Online Exclusives range. About a third of the background was left as white space to avoid it looking too busy.

Next, the flowers are stamped. These are from the Delightful Wishes Stamp Set and are two-step stampin’. We stamped the more detailed outline first, then the more blocky image was stamped second generation in the same colour.

Pool Party leaves, from the same stamp set were then stamped at various angles.

Next, Wink of Stella was added to the centre of each of the flowers.

A sentiment from the Simply Said Stamp Set was also stamped. This had a swoosh of Baker’s Twine, coloured with a Stampin’ Blend added to it.

Finally, the sentiment piece was then raised up on Mini Dimensionals.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Natural Botanicals Rainbow

As we’ve had so much rain lately, I decided to brighten things up at last week’s Card & Cuppa class with this rainbow project.

It uses tone-on-tone with a colour combination of Basic Beige and Very Vanilla.

A strip of cardstock was held across the project while the leaves were stamped across the background. This was to avoid losing leaves behind the centre strip.

The leaves are from the Natural Botanicals Stamp Set. They were then coloured using Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen.

It was fun seeing this rainbow of leaves come to life during the colouring phase.

Next, a strip of Very Vanilla is stuck across the project to hide the masking. Any excess is then cut off.

Then, the sentiment from the Simply Said Stamp Set is stamped, again tone-on-tone and stuck onto the Vanilla piece. Once again, the excess is removed.

Finally, a couple of Antique Pearls are added to either side of the project.

This is a great design to replicate and you could use different colours and stamp sets.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Textured Notes Stamp Set

Last week’s Card & Cuppa project used a stamp set that is on the Last Chance Products list.

This means the Textured Notes Stamp Set is only available while stocks last. It’s also at a reduced price, so make sure you grab it while you can.

My colour combination for this project was Crumb Cake, Pretty Peacock and the In Color Summer Splash. These combined with Very Vanilla for a more vintage look.

First, the leaves were stamped. The larger leaves then had any ‘open’ leaves coloured using a Stampin’ Blend.

Next, a Blending Brush and a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Pad were used to add a more vintage look around the project.

Three lengths of coordinating Crumb Cake Baker’s Twine from the Essentials Pack were added across the centre.

The basket design was then stamped onto a separate piece and punched out, along with a circle for layering.

A sentiment from the Simply Said Stamp Set was then stamped and stuck to the top of this.

This whole piece was then attached to the project using Dimensionals.

Finally, some Antique Pearls were added for a touch of bling.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Modern Oval Punch

Last week’s Card & Cuppa project used one punch and three shades of the same colour to create this Birthday card.

My colour combination was Granny Apple Green, Old Olive and Lemon Lime Twist, three colours next to each other on the Color Coach Colour Wheel.

These were paired with Basic White.

Three shapes were cut from each colour using the Modern Oval Punch.

All, apart from one, were given a touch of extra colour using Blending Brushes and Old Olive Ink before being stuck onto the Basic White piece.

Any overhanging pieces were cut to size.

A sentiment from the Simply Said Stamp Set was stamped onto the shape that hadn’t been coloured with the Blending Brush.

Using the Black & White & Gold Baker’s Twine from the Online Exclusives range, a swoosh was added behind the sentiment.

This whole piece was then stuck to the project using Dimensionals.

October Card Making Class – Project 1

At this month’s Card Making Class, there wasn’t a theme. Instead, I designed a variety of cards for the attendees to make.

This first project in shades of pink and green is a bit of a surprise.

Would you believe this image is from one of the new Christmas Stamp Sets in the Mini Catalogue? The set is called Christmas Greenery and when I saw this image, I wanted to use it for something other than Christmas.

In the colour combination of Bubble Bath, Petunia Pop, Old Olive, Garden Green and Basic Gray, this design makes a pretty celebration card.

To begin, the floral image is stamped onto a separate piece of cardstock and then using 2-step stampin’ and other stamps from the set, the flowers, bow and leaves are all coloured. A touch of Wink of Stella is added to the flowers.

The image is then cut out using the coordinating Christmas Greenery Dies.

A background is created using the So Swirly Embossing Folder.

Simply Said provides the sentiment and this is layered onto a Petunia Pop layer.

This is stuck directly onto the embossed background, while the flowers are raised up using Dimensionals.

Finally, some Iridescent Pearls are added the project for some extra bling.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Textured Notes

Last week’s Card & Cuppa class revisited this previous design from one of my monthly classes.

As you can see, I’ve made a few design tweaks and used a new colour combination too.

My colours are Pool Party, Pretty Peacock and Night of Navy, with Basic White. I really love this colour combination.

The background images from the Textured Notes Stamp Set, from the Online Exclusives range are stamped second generation to give a more delicate look.

Next, the leaves are stamped multiple times, with the ends of the stems joining in the centre.

White Woven Ribbon is then coloured with a Stampin’ Blend and stuck across the centre. This is now in the Last Chance products section and available while stocks last.

A sentiment from the Simply Said Stamp Set is cut out using the 1 7/8″ Circle Punch, new in the Annual Catalogue. This is layered onto another punched circle.

Using Dimensionals, the sentiment is attached above the ribbon.

Finally, Rhinestones are added for a touch of bling.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Beautiful Butterflies Stamp Set

Last week’s Card & Cuppa project was this colourful butterfly card.

I had been asked to design a project using the silhouette technique, so this is my version.

Each coloured circle is made using a piece of cardstock punched out using a punch from the Online Exclusives range.

These masks are then coloured using Blending Brushes and two colours for each circle. Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie, Flirty Flamingo and Berry Burst and Granny Apple Green and Azure Afternoon.

Then each circle is stamped using the Beautiful Butterflies Stamp Set and Momento Ink Pad in Tuxedo Black.

A sentiment from the Simply Said Stamp Set is stamped and layered onto Basic Black.

Finally, some Rhinestones add some bling.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Peekaboo Forest

Last week I held both my Card & Cuppa and my Card & Cuppa for Children Classes. I decided that this project using the Peekaboo Forest Stamp Set and Dies would be the card for both classes.

This Stamp Set and Dies are currently on the Last Chance Products list at a discounted price. Make sure you grab them while you can.

To begin, a piece of Basic White cardstock was cut in half using a one of the Dies. This creates the pieces for the sky and the hedge.

The sky was then coloured with a Blending Brush using Balmy Blue and the hedge using Garden Green.

Next, leaves from the Stamp Set were stamped onto the hedge piece and coloured with a Blender Pen.

Each of our Peekaboo Friends were stamped in Early Espresso onto a separate piece, and cut out using the Dies. They were coloured using Watercolour Pencils and a Blender Pen.

Assembly was next, with the sky being stuck down first and the animals stuck to the back of the hedge. A Dimensional was stuck to the back of each head before the hedge was attached. This gives the project more depth and makes the animals look like they are peering over the hedge.

Finally, a sentiment from the Simply Said Stamp Set was added to the bottom of the project.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa for Children – Turtle-y Awesome

Last week I held my first Card & Cuppa for Children Class for this year’s summer holidays.

I held my first Card & Cuppa for Children class back in August 2016 and some of the children I have taught over the years are now adults!

This karaoke turtle I designed for the session features the fabulous Turtle-y Awesome Stamp Set and Dies Bundle from the Annual Catalogue.

The colour combination is Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray, Poppy Parade and Basic White.

First, a background of stars from the With you in Mind Stamp Set is stamped. These are in second generation stamping to create a more muted feel.

Next, the sentiment, from the Simply Said Stamp Set was added, followed by the musical notes from the Bundle.

The microphone and party hat from the Turtle-y Awesome Stamp Set were stamped onto a separate piece of cardstock and cut out using the coordinating dies.

Using the Stylish Shapes Dies, the central diamond was cut out twice, once in Basic White and again in Granny Apple Green.

The Basic White diamond was then cut along the dotted edge to make it slightly smaller to allow it to layer with the other one later.

A turtle was then stamped onto the square and all of the items were then coloured using Watercolour Pencils and a Blender Pen.

The turtle was layered onto the other diamond and the party hat and microphone were then added.

This whole piece was raised up on Dimensionals in the centre of the project.

Finally, some coordinating Granny Apple Green bling from the Shades of Greens Hexagons were added.
