Beautiful Autumn meets Rooted in Nature

For this Birthday Card, a favourite Stamp Set combines with a new favourite Stamp Set. This project is Beautiful Autumn meets Rooted in Nature.

My colour combination is Sahara Sand, Pumpkin Pie, Mint Macaron and Very Vanilla. I think the Very Vanilla helps to keep this a warmer mix of colours. Also, using a Thick Very Vanilla basecard, the colours are not fighting with each other.

Using the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set, the tree section is stamped in Sahara Sand.

Next, I’ve used the Beautiful Autumn Stamp Set and Punch Bundle to create the tiny leaves and acorn. For each one, the stamping is tone-on-tone.

They are all scattered across the project to create a falling effect and each stuck using Multipurpose Glue.

A sentiment from the Itty Bitty Birthdays Stamp Set provide the Birthday message. One end is given a banner shape, using the new Banners Pick a Punch. On the other end, an acorn is added.

The sentiment piece is then attached using Mini Dimensionals, to raise it off the page.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Essential Tag Punch: Take Two

For last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa project, it was take two for the Essential Tag Punch.

Essential Tag Punch: Take Two. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I previously made this project at one of my recent Papercrafting Classes. The Card & (Your) Cuppa attendees liked it and wanted to make one, hence the reason for Essential Tag Punch: Take Two.

For this version, I’ve chosen Just Jade as my main colour.

Once again, it uses the Forever Greenery DSP, cut out with the Essential Tag Punch from the Mini Catalogue. I chose three pieces of DSP and cut two from each, in different orientations. This is so they could be used for either the top or bottom row.

It’s easier to start with the middle two shapes and work out, as you can decide your distances between the shapes. The shapes overhung the edges on mine, so I trimmed them down.

Essential Tag Punch: Take Two. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

A sentiment from the Lovely You Stamp Set is stamped in co-ordinating Just Jade onto a punched circle.

This is layered onto a length of Just Jade Ribbon and a die cut from the Forever Flourishing Dies.

Essential Tag Punch: Take Two. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

By make some small changes, using different sheets of DSP, using Just Jade and adding a sentiment, you can see the differences.

The previous one is below (right). Which do you prefer?

A Bright Flowering Frame

This bright flowering flame in Magenta Madness is today’s project.

I was flicking through the Annual Catalogue and stopped at Page 69. This is my version of the project on that page.

A Bright Flowering Frame. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

It’s no secret that I use the catalogues for my inspiration. I change the colours, change the stamp sets or change the design slightly.

My colour combination is Magenta Madness, Granny Apple Green and Whisper White. Magenta Madness is one of the five new In Colors for 2020 and this combination really zings.

For my version, I began by stamping the large rectangle image from the Swirly Frames Stamp Set in Whisper White ink.

A Bright Flowering Frame. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Then, using Magenta Madness, I stamped flowers from the Blossoms in Bloom Stamp Set tone-on-tone onto a separate piece. I also added a few leaves to the background too. I used a Blender Pen to draw the colour onto the petals.

The larger flowers are cut using the Small Bloom Punch, with the smaller ones needing fussy cutting. For the leaves, the Sprig Punch gives us the two longer pieces, with the smaller leaves again stamped tone-on-tone, this time in Granny Apple Green.

Using Glue Dots for each item, I firstly built layers of leaves, adding the flowers on top.

‘For You’ comes from the Well Said Stamp Set and is added using Mini Dimensionals to raise it up off the background.

A Bright Flowering Frame. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Finally, Epoxy Droplets make the centre of the large flowers, with Rhinestones for the rest of the sparkle.

Even though I’m not a lover of pink, this bright flowering frame design really pops and is a great project for any occasion. I now have an idea for another design!

Happiness is… Hippo Happiness

It had to happen sooner or later! I finally got to play with my Hippo Happiness Stamp Set and Dies Bundle.

Hippo Happiness Bundle. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

This cute project just uses the hippo parts of the Stamp Set and the co-ordinating Die to cut it out.

I used Smoky Slate to stamp the hippos all across the background. Then using Smoky Slate again, stamped the three pieces to make the die-cut hippo. First the darker body piece, then the features, then finally, the full piece I used for the background, this time stamped off first.

As my new Cut & Emboss machine has arrived, I used it to cut out the hippo. I’m adore this machine already. You definitely need one in your life.

It comes with the plates you need to get started – 1 Base Plate, 1 Die Plate, 2 Cutting Plates, and 1 Specialty Plate. No receiving the machine and not being able to use it straight away. Just assemble the handle following the easy instructions and off you go. The plates are all numbered too and have information on which ones to use for cutting and embossing.

Hippo Happiness Bundle. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

As I knew I wanted to use a green colour to go with the grey (well, I am HIPPOFROG Designs after all!), I couldn’t decide which one to use. Then, my eyes fell on the gingham ribbon in the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack. This ribbon gives the project a fun look, so using co-ordinating cardstock and ink in the same colour, made Just Jade the perfect choice.

Using the Banners Pick a Punch to shape the end of the sentiment strips, these were stuck together, along with the piece of ribbon.

Finally, the hippo was stuck on a punched circle layer which was attached using Dimensionals.

Hippo Happiness Bundle. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I think I may be creating a few more projects with this set.

If only there was a similar frog based bundle available to use along with this Hippo Happiness one…

Sending you a Paper Hug

A card is a great way to say I’m sending you a paper hug. This one, quite literally says it!

Sending you a Paper Hug. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

It uses the Ornate Garden DSP and is really quick and easy to make.

By using the colours of the DSP, part of the hard work has been done for me. Bumblebee and Terracotta Tile are teamed with a Thick Whisper White base card.

A piece of the DSP is cut to size, then the bottom section is cut and turned around to show the other side.

Sending you a Paper Hug. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

A strip of In Color Ribbon is placed across the join. This then has a sentiment placed over the top of it.

The fabulous sentiment is from the Comfort & Hope Stamp Set, with the ends cut using the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. A co-ordinating layer is added to the sentiment.

Finally, two In Color Enamel Dots are added to each side of the sentiment.

As this design is perfect for any occasion. You could easily make a batch of these in advance and then add a relevant sentiment when they are ready to send.

Very Versailles and Circle Punches

Due to the Bank Holiday, there wasn’t a Card & (Your) Cuppa session last week, so I’m sharing this project made with Very Versailles and Circle Punches instead.

It’s loosely based on the projects on Page 114 of the Annual Catalogue.

My colour combination is Blushing Bride, Pumpkin Pie and Poppy Parade, with Early Espresso as the accent colour.

The stunning branch image is stamped on the background, with Blushing Bride and Early Espresso used with Sponge Daubers to distress the edges.

A combination of various generations of stamping for the other images create the different depths of colour. Circle Punches cut out these pieces. This trio of circles is then layered in size order.

Very Versailles and Circle Punches. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

A sentiment from the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set has a piece of pretty Scalloped Lace Trim stuck to the back.

This is then stuck onto the project with Mini Dimensionals.

Finally, a few Champagne Rhinestones add some sparkle. These co-ordinate really well with the Pumpkin Pie and Early Espresso colours.

Very Versailles and Circle Punches. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

As I haven’t played with Very Versailles for a while, it was nice to stamp with it again.

All About the Blooms

This project is all about the blooms. It uses the Basket of Blooms Stamp Set and the co-ordinating Small Bloom Punch.

All About the Blooms. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Recently, I shared this project with you. This is another version using the pot from the set, instead of the vase.

The colour combination is again Bumblebee, Terracotta Tile and Old Olive. Two of these are from the In Color collections.

In the stamp set, there are various flower and leaf stamps. This project uses one of the bloom images that co-ordinates with the Small Bloom Punch. Each bloom uses two images stuck together offset from each other.

All About the Blooms. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Using a Blender Pen, I gently pulled the ink from the stamping to colour both the leaves and the flowers. A sentiment from the Well Said Stamp Set provides the sentiment, suitable for a number of occasions.

For a slightly different look, some lengths of ribbon from the Ornate Garden Combo Pack are stuck behind the white piece. The whole white piece is then attached with Dimensionals to raise it off the ribbons.

Finally, some tiny Gold Glitter Enamel Dots are added to the centre of each flower.

Daisy Lane, Crumb Cake & Watercolor Pencils

I’m sharing another floral project with you today made with Daisy Lane, Crumb Cake and Watercolor Pencils

Daisy Lane, Crumb Cake & Watercolor Pencils. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

This project is again inspired by the Annual Catalogue. If you head to page 13, you’ll see a similar project.

I chose to use Daisy Lane as my Stamp Set, with Rich Razzleberry as my main colour. I have stamped tone-on-tone on the Crumb Cake and then coloured using Watercolor Pencils. A Blender Pen over the colouring then helps to blend them together.

Even though the base card is Very Vanilla, I have stamped the sentiment from Lovely You onto a strip of Rich Razzleberry with a Whisper White Inkpad.

Daisy Lane, Crumb Cake & Watercolor Pencils. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Using the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch, one end of the sentiment is shaped. The Stamp Set and Punch are available as a discounted Bundle.

This stamped and punched sentiment is then stuck over a bow from Linen Thread.

Finally, a few Artistry Blooms Adhesive-Backed Sequins in co-ordinating Rich Razzleberry, in different sizes, add a touch of sparkle. As they already have adhesive attached, they are easy to adhere.

Jar of Flowers Bundle

Here is another of the floral projects I’ve been making recently. This card uses the Jar of Flowers Bundle.

Jar of Flowers Bundle. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

In the Bundle, there is a stamp set that is perfect for colouring, with reversible stamps too. This is teamed with the co-ordinating Jar Punch. As bundles are discounted, they are great items to purchase.

The flowers for this project are first stamped in Smoky Slate. Then, they are given some colour with Stampin’ Blends. My combos are So Saffron, Granny Apple Green, Highland Heather and Petal Pink. Once I had cut them out, I used Pool Party Blends to highlight around the edge.

Jar of Flowers Bundle. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

My jar is in So Saffron to co-ordinate with the layer and some of the flowers.

A bow from the Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon is wrapped around the jar before it is stuck to the card.

The flowers are then attached to the project using Dimensionals.

Jar of Flowers Bundle. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Finally, some Metallic Pearls are placed around the design and Wink of Stella is added to the centre of the flowers for a touch of sparkle.

I like the white space on this project as it allows the flowers to shine. Be sure to add this Jar of Flowers Bundle to your shopping list!

If you’d like to make projects like this, I’m running a Fabulous Florals Online Class on 23rd September. Head to my Class Timetable for full details of this and the other classes I’m running.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – A Wave of Butterflies

For last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa project, the attendees made a wave of butterflies. It’s a version of this project from my recent Abstract/Shapes Class.

Wave of Butterflies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

For this project, I kept the same colours for the butterflies. I decided to change to Whisper White and also Pool Party for the wave of butterflies to sit on.

The gap is made by cutting a wavy line and sticking each part down leaving the gap. Butterflies are cut using the Butterfly Duet Punch.

Using Glue Dots, the wave of butterflies is created, starting with the centre, then the top and bottom. This helps to make the gaps more even.

Wave of Butterflies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

The sentiment is once again from the Itty Bitty Birthdays Stamp Set cut with the Layering Circles Dies. This is sat on top of a piece of the very pretty co-ordinating Pool Party Ribbon.

Wave of Butterflies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

This ribbon has a lovely shimmer, which matches the sparkle from the Wink of Stella I added to each butterfly.
