Celebrate with Seasonal Layers

If you’re looking for a card that is really versatile, then this design is perfect. At my recent Stamp-a-Stack class we chose to celebrate with Seasonal Layer.

We used Grapefruit Grove and Pear Pizzazz here, but you could use any combination.

Background stamping using the Gallery Grunge Stamp Set removes some of the white space, drawing the eye to the leaves and flowers.

These leaves and flowers are cut using the Seasonal Layers Dies. The Take Your Pick Tool and Die Brush Tip were useful for removing the bits.

A layer of Wink of Stella has been added to the flowers for a touch of sparkle.

‘Celebrate’ is from the Vibrant Vases Stamp Set and we’ve used a Stampin’ Write Marker to ink up the part of the sentiment we require.

If you have an image you only want to use a part of, then Stampin’ Write Markers are a great way of achieving this.

It’s then cut out using the fabulous Stitched Shapes Dies. These create a pretty edge.

With an strip of cardstock across the centre, the leaves, flowers and sentiment are all then assembled.

Lots of Leaves

In the excitement of the new Spring/Summer Catalogue and SAB, I realised I haven’t shared a few projects with you.

Here is the first one and it has lots of leaves.

This is the Birthday Card I made for my Mum back in November. Using the Nature’s Twine Pack for my colour inspiration, it’s then combined with the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set and co-ordinating Thinlits.

The leaves have been either stamped, inked with Sponge Daubers on the edges, or both.

Each leaf and branch has been layered with lots of Dimensionals o add depth. As the card was hand delivered, I built it a lot higher that I would for a posted project.

Happy Birthday Gorgeous and the Stitched Shapes Framelits create the sentiment feature. I then looped the Nature’s Twine to the back of it to add another layer of texture.

Once the flowers had been added, the finishing touch was a small Pearl in the centre of each one.

I get my inspiration from all sorts of different places and this time it was the colour combination. Where do you get your ideas from?

Final Card & Cuppa of 2018 – Christmas Wreath

Last week’s Card & Cuppa was the final class project of 2018. It was the third of our special Christmas Cards too.

This stunning wreath was made using the fabulous Sprig Punch.

Garden Green and Real Red with the Making Christmas Bright Stamp Set make the centre sentiment, while Garden Green and Old Olive create the wreath.

Every attendee had a choice of which colour Foil Sheet they used for their background layer. This colour was also the colour of the additional leaves in the wreath. They also chose from a selection of base card colours too.

A tip for this wreath is to scrunch the leaves first to add extra depth.

Crumb Cake Ribbon in a ‘bunny ears’ style bow then adds that extra Christmas feel, and finally Pearls to complete the look.

Introducing Grapefruit Grove

Here’s another project from my recent In Color Introduction class and this project is introducing Grapefruit Grove. You’ll have seen me use the colour previously.

This uses the new Rooted in Nature Bundle from the Nature’s Poem Suite in the Annual Catalogue. It’s one of those sets that grabbed my attention straight away and I knew it just had to fall into my basket!

Here we’ve used the leaves from the Stamp Set and stamped them in Grapefruit Grove.

Using the co-ordinating Nature’s Root Framelit we’ve cut the smaller leaves and both embossed and cut the feature leaves. The texture these have is really stunning.

Happy Birthday Gorgeous provides the sentiment and it sits in a circle from the Stitched Shape Framelits and a layer from the Layering Circles Framelits.

These all sit on a strip of matching Grapefruit Grove ribbon.

I love the colour combination of this project with Grapefruit Grove, Pool Party and Merry Merlot. It’s not the usual colour scheme you would use for leaves but I’m really pleased with how it came out.

It’s great to experiment with unusual colour combinations or change from what is perceived to be the norm.

Celebrate your day with Bunch of Blossoms

As I was away on holiday last week there wasn’t a Card & Cuppa class. However, one of my regular Card & Cuppa attendees celebrated their birthday while I was away so I’m sharing that with you today.

This bright and cheery card uses Bunch of Blossoms and the Blossom Builder Punch to create a pretty spray of flowers in yellows and orange.

I’ve chosen Old Olive as the green and have stamped several leaves on the background to add extra depth. I used the same stamp for both the centre of the flower and the dots on the background.

The flowers are Daffodil Delight and So Saffron with Pumpkin Pie centres and cut out with the co-ordinating punch.

Using Washi Tape to mask the ‘let’s’ from the sentiment made ‘celebrate your day’, a much more appropriate greeting.

Both the Stitched Shapes Framelits and Layering Ovals Framelits are layered to create the framed piece in the centre.

A Baker’s Twine bow and Rhinestones add the finishing touches.

Inspired by Canada and Dots

Due to the Bank Holiday, there wasn’t a new Card & Cuppa project for last week, the ladies who had their class cancelled due to snow finally got to make THIS project.

In light of this, I’m sharing some more projects from my recent Waterfront Stamp Set class instead.

Here are the next two, again inspired by places I’ve been.

First we have a design inspired by Canada.

The reflection is made by stamping onto a cello bag and then transferring the image. Next it’s the mountains and carefully lining up the trunks of the trees with the reflection.

A combination of Perfect Plum, Tranquil Tide and Soft Sky make this a calming scene.

‘For You’ is from the Banner for You Stamp Set and it works really nicely with classic label shapes.

Next we have ‘Dots’. This bright project is inspired by the fun times you can have on holiday, and possibly the bubbles in some drinks!

It uses a version of the Eclipse technique where a shape is cut out of a piece and is then put back into place.

The sun makes the dots by stamping in Berry Burst, Rich Razzleberry and Tempting Turquoise across the piece. Splats are then stamped over the project. A sentiment from Picture Perfect Birthday is then added before being cut out with the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

A strip of Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon and a Tempting Turquoise layer are put into place before replacing the circle, making sure to line up the image.

Customer Thank You Cards – December

Apologies for not posting for the past few days, I was struck down with a horrid migraine that wiped me off my feet for two days. I know it was really nasty as for the first time ever I was forced to cancel a class due to illness 🙁

However, I’m back to ‘normal’ again and back to posting 🙂

The project I’m showing you today is the Thank You cards I sent to my December customers. If you ordered from me during December and selected me as your Demonstrator, then you should have received one of these.

These thank you cards are made using notecards, these come pre-scored in packs of 20 and with envelopes too and are perfect for making quick and easy cards, especially in multiples.

The background is from pieces of the fabulous Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack with the sentiment stamped onto an oval cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits – isn’t that detailed border just fabulous. This Paper Stack doesn’t need much adding to it as it is simply gorgeous itself, that’s if you can bring yourself to cut into it…

Have you spotted the sparkling ribbon too? This FREE SAB ribbon is just one of the many products that you can choose when you spend £45 or more. The 1cm Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack contains two reels, one white with silver and one vanilla with gold. I think it just gives the card and added bit of bling.
