Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Medley Mix Stamp Set

I have been asked for a ‘thinking of you’ card by my Card & Cuppa attendees, so here is last week’s project.

It uses the new Medley Mix Stamp Set from the new Mini Catalogue, along with the Inked & Tile Punch Pack that it coordinates with.

For this project I chose more muted colours of Pecan Pie, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla.

The eagle-eyed among you will notice that this design is inspired by the projects in the catalogue.

Leaves and the background detail are from the Layering Leaves Stamp Set, with the leaves cut out with the coordinating Bough Punch.

Other images are from the Medley Mix Stamp Set, with the circle cut using the 1 3/4″ punch from the Online Exclusives range.

Thinking of you is from the the Go To Greetings stamp set. All of the pieces are layered together with the sentiment on the top.

Finally, a few Iridescent Pearls are added.

I think this project would look great in a number of colour ways and with different sentiments too.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Oceanfront Stamp Set

For last week’s Card & Cuppa project, I once again CASEd this previous project of mine.

This was the first time the attendees had the chance to use this stamp set so I made sure every stamp in the set was used!

As this stamp set is from the DistINKtive range, the images have much more depth and help to create the realistic view.

A Mint Macaron sky with Balmy Blue water and Crumb Cake shore creates the background.

Next, Old Olive grasses and Early Espresso reeds are added. These sit behind Gray Granite rocks which are fussy cut and given dimensions using Dimensionals.

For this card, I chose to use Thinking of You as it was a lovely serene scene.

The sentiment is from the very useful Go To Greetings Stamp Set.

Again, this is cut out and stuck to the project using Dimensionals.

Wildflower Path Sympathy Card

Today’s project is this very simple Thinking of You card.

When I need to create sympathy cards, I tend to stick to a similiar design, just changing the orientation and colours as required.

For this version, I’ve used Flirty Flamingo, Soft Sea Foam and Very Vanilla.

The Wildflower Path Stamp Set is my current go to for the images.

For the sentiment, I’ve used the Framed Occasions Stamp Set.

Of course, this design isn’t just for this type of card, it can be used for lots of other occasions too. Adding ribbons and embellishments can also add to the design.

Leaf Fall Embossing Folder Thinking of You

If you are like me, you will find that sympathy cards are the most difficult type to make.

Sadly, I recently needed to make one for a friend.

I chose the new Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder from the July-December Mini Catalogue as my main focus.

Using Old Olive and a touch of Crushed Curry onto Very Vanilla, I came up with this simple design.

By pre-inking the embossing folder with my Blending Brushes and inks, I was able to achieve a soft look.

Once embossed, I then softly added a bit more colour and depth to some of the leaves, again using my Blending Brushes.

My sentiment is from the Soft Seedlings Stamp Set. It is stamped in Old Olive, then cut out and layered.

This design was for a man and obviously sympathy, but it could easily be recreated in different colours with embellishments for different occasions.

Wildflower Path Thinking of You

The new Wildflower Path Stamp Set from the January-June Mini Catalogue was perfect to create this recent project.

Sadly, I had to make a sympathy card.

However, the simplicity of this stamp set and using just a few colours really works.

Using Flirty Flamingo and Old Olive, the stems and flowers are stamped in a mix of first and second generation stamping.

This stamp set has a variety of images, including outer and inner flower pieces. For the outside of the flowers, these are second generation, with the inners first generation to make them slightly darker.

The sentiment is from the Beauty of Friendship Stamp Set and is stamped straight onto the project.

I love how versatile this Wildflower Path Stamp Set is and have lots of ideas for different projects to make with it.

Vine Design Bundle Sympathy Card

I sadly needed to make a sympathy card for a friend recently.

Vine Design Bundle Sympathy Card. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs The Vine Design Stamp Set and Dies Bundle, from the January-June Mini Catalogue, provides intricate delicate pieces and flower shapes to create beautiful projects.

I chose to use a soft colour combination of Soft Sea Foam, So Saffron, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla.

Using the Very Versailles Stamp Set and both Crumb Cake and Soft Sea Foam inks, I stamped the branch image multiple times to create a faded background effect.

Next, I added the delicate circle of leaves and attached some die cut So Saffron flowers to it. There are already flowers in the die cut piece, but I wanted mine to be in a different colour.

Using a Sponge Dauber, I darkened the edges of the flowers slightly, before adding a small dot of Wink of Stella in the centre of each one. Vine Design Bundle Sympathy Card. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Finally, I raised the ‘Thinking of You’ sentiment with Dimensionals over the flowers.

Thinking of you for a friend

A friend is going through a tough time, so I wanted them to know that I was thinking of them.

They are a fan of pink and sparkly things, so I designed this card using the more muted Petal Pink, along with Soft Suede and Very Vanilla.

This soft combination still uses the things they like, just in a less dramatic way.

I used the Perennial Essence Stamp Set to stamp the flowers and coloured them using Petal Pink and Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends Combos. They have a very light touch of Wink of Stella in the centres to give a bit of sparkle.

These were then fussy cut and attached to a background stamped using an image from the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set.

Colorful Seasons provided the sentiment that is punched out using the Timeless Label Punch.

A few lengths of Scalloped Lace Trim behind the sentiment provide an extra layer of pretty texture.

Thinking of you cards are always difficult to make, but I think it is useful to have a few cards already made to hand. They can be pre-made with the sentiment, or blank cards you can quickly add a sentiment to as needed. These cards are much easier to create when you don’t need to sit down and concentrate on making one.

I’m hoping this card provided the hug in an envelope I’d sent.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Dandelion Wishes

At last week’s Card & Cuppa sessions, I designed one of the most difficult cards to make, a sympathy card.

I used the Dandelion Wishes Stamp Set and some masking to create this pretty project.

Using Sponge Brayers, Pool Party and Balmy Blue Ink, the ombre section was created. Second generation stamping then adds a subtle background to the lighter side of the section.

Then, after removing the masking, a dandelion in Pacific Point is stamped. Hearts from the Dog Builder Punch are added with Glue Dots.

‘Thinking of you’ from Colorful Seasons Stamp Set and a layer are cut using the Stitched Rectangle Dies. To create the border, we cut around the stitching of the sentiment. It’s a great way to create borders with the various stitched dies.

Although my card was a Sympathy Card, it’s a really versatile design. I took a range sentiments along with me to the sessions and the attendees used a variety from Birthday Wishes to You’ve been on my mind’.
