Saying Hello, But Almost Goodbye

This quick and easy ‘hello’ card is made using In Colors we will shortly saying farewell to.

The 2020-2022 In Colors will soon be leaving us to make way for five new ones.

I think I’m going to miss Misty Moonlight and Just Jade the most, but I’m excited to find out about the new colours that will replace them.

Don’t wait until the Retiring List is released to get your hands on these outgoing In Colors. Order them while you still can.

This project uses the In Color Cardstock pack and each colour is cut out using the Tailored Tag Punch.

Each piece is then arranged and any overhang cut away.

A sentiment from the Forever Fern Stamp Set then has the edges shaped using the same punch, to mirror the angles, before it is raised up on Dimensionals.

Finally, coordinating In Colour Square Gems are added to each shape.

This project is such a simple one to replicate and you could use any colours, DSP, sentiments and more.

My colour combination is Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape.

Using strips of cardstock and turning them into triangles, the exploded version of this technique takes shape.

A swoosh of the coordinating Sheer Ribbon is then added.

The sentiment is from the Lovely You Stamp Set and cut out using the Tailored Tag Punch.

Finally, the sentiment is raised up over the ribbon using Dimensionals.

You’ve now seen three of the five new In Colors for 2021-2023. The next is Polished Pink.

Once again, I’ve made the same monochrome project in Polished Pink using the Dragonfly Garden Stamp Set and Punch Bundle.

This new open weave ribbon is lovely and light, with a see-through centre and solid edges.

If you’re regular reader, you will know that I’m not a lover of pink, so it’s safe to say that out of these five In Colors, this isn’t my favourite! But, I know that some of you will love it.

One of the perks of being a Demonstrator is being able to purchase a selection of items from each Catalogue before they go live.

Every year, Stampin’ Up! release 5 new colors. These In Colors stay for just 2 Catalogue cycles.

Countdown to Christmas #3

It’s Friday again, so time for Countdown to Christmas #3.

This week I’m sharing the Tag Buffet Stamp Set.

The cute stocking is stamped in Tuxedo Black and coloured with the Real Red Stampin’ Blends Combo.

Using the Heartwarming Hugs DSP, currently on Special Offer during October as the layer. I have also used it again using shapes cut from the Tailored Tag Punch.

You’ll notice that I chose the DSP with a diamond pattern to co-ordinate with the punched shapes.

A top tip is to use a basecard that you can’t see through when you hold it up to the light, like my Real Red one here. That way, you can punch out the shapes from the DSP layer and get more out of your paper.

Before adding the fussy cut stocking, a length of the Braided Linen Trim in Real Red is looped across one of the diamonds.

The stocking is then added with some Dimensionals.

Finally, some Wonderful Gems are added to the project as a sparkly touch.

The Tag Buffet Stamp Set, Braided Linen Trim and Wonderful Gems are part of my Crack Your Christmas Cards Class.

In Color DSP and Tailored Tag Punch

At my recent DSP class, I showed the attendees ways to get the best out of their pretty papers. Here is one of the projects, made using In Color DSP and Tailored Tag Punch shapes.

I’ve made this design several times before (here and here), and I was pleased to see a similar version appear in the new Annual Catalogue using the In Good Taste DSP.

This quick and simple card is made by cutting shapes from the In Color DSP with a punch or dies. You then arrange them onto the cardstock in a pattern. The white gaps between the shapes create clean lines.

By using a Whisper White basecard and then a layer that co-ordinates with one of the colours, it brings everything together.

The key to this project is working out where to put your sentiment and to lay it in place, without gluing at the very start. My sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Birthdays Stamp Set and stamped in Magenta Madness to co-ordinate with the DSP.

Place the other shapes around it to make pattern you want. Then, when you are happy, start sticking everything down. You can be really frugal with your DSP on these projects as you can use the same shape for for several different pieces. Can you see how one of the Bumblebee shapes has been used? This is a great card for teenagers. Make it with DSP or cardstock in lots of different shapes and colours. You could add ribbon, twine or extra embellishments too. Let your imagination go wild!

Christmas Stamp-a-Stack: Making Christmas Bright

I know that Christmas Day was a few days ago, but I’m sharing my final Christmas Stamp-a-Stack project with you.

As this project uses the Making Christmas Bright Stamp Set from the Annual Catalogue, there is no chance of it retiring next week.

A combination of Shaded Spruce, Lovely Lipstick, Crushed Curry, Very Vanilla and Gold Foil are used for this project.

The pretty star edged circle is stamped onto the cardstock, and 3 light bulbs and bases are punched using the matching Christmas Bulb Builder Punch.

These are then assembled using Glue Dots – a lot less fiddly, time-consuming and messy than wet glue!

For the sentiment, the Tailored Tag Punch is used once to cut out the main words, and again to create the layer behind.

A strip of the fabulous Ribbon is stuck behind before everything is then assembled.
