More Stars for Another Teenage Birthday

I recently shared this card I made for a teenage Birthday.

As I need to make cards for several Birthdays around this time, here is another version of the project for another teenage Birthday.

Another Teenage Birthday. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

It uses the same basic design, with a few tweaks.

My colour combination is Granny Apple Green, Smoky Slate, Pacific Point and Basic White.

Another Teenage Birthday. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

As with the previous project, the background is stamped using the Gorgeous Leaves Stamp Set. Don’t forget that this Stamp Set is on the Last Chance Products list. Grab it while you can!

Using the Starlit Punch and cardstock in all of the colours, several stars are cut out and scattered across the project.

Finally, a sentiment from the Art Gallery Stamp Set, cut out using the Tasteful Labels Dies is raised up on Dimensionals.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Alternatives to Basic White and Very Vanilla

For this week’s Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques video, I’m sharing a tip on using alternatives to Basic White and Very Vanilla.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Alternatives to Basic White and Very Vanilla. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Click on the link below to watch my video on this subject

My colour combination is Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Early Espresso for this project.

I’ve used the Flowers of Friendship Stamp Set and Flowers & Leaves Punch Bundle from the Annual Catalogue.

The background flowers are given a touch more colour using a Blender Pen. Their centres are given a touch of sparkle using Wink of Stella.

Corners are then rounded using the Detailed Trio Punch.

A length of the Gold Shimmer Ribbon goes across the project. It works really well with the colour combination.

Using the sentiment from the Flowers of Friendship, this is cut out using the Tasteful Labels Dies and attached with Dimensionals.

Separate flowers and leaves are then added to this.

Finally, some Brushed Metallic Dots, in coordinating Gold are dotted around the project.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Using Blending Brushes

For this week’s Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques video, I’m sharing how to work with Blending Brushes.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Using Blending Brushes. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Click on the picture below to watch my video all using them.

Today’s project uses the Many Layered Blossoms Dies and the coordinating Blossoms in Bloom Stamp Set.

The five colours are all from the Brights Collection to make the rainbow effect. They are Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Poppy Parade, Melon Mambo and Gorgeous Grape.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Using Blending Brushes. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Once the background had been made using the Blending Brushes, the die cut shape was attached using Adhesive Sheets.

A length of the Essentials Baker’s Twine was then coloured using a Stampin’ Blend marker and this made a bow.

Finally, the sentiment from the Stamp Set was cut out using the Tasteful Labels Dies and raised up on Mini Dimensionals.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Tying Multiple Loop Bows

For this week’s Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques video, I’m sharing how to tie multiple loop bows.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Tying Multiple Loop Bows. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Click on the picture below to watch my video which shows how to tie the triple-loop bow I used on this card.

Today’s project uses the Gorgeous Leaves Stamp Set and Dies Bundle from the July-December Mini Catalogue. It is the final bonus card from September’s SSOTM Online Class.

This class also incorporated my annual Mostly Men class, so the projects have a more masculine feel.

My colour combination is Bumblebee, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Soft Suede, with Basic White.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Tying Multiple Loop Bows. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

After stamping the background, two shapes are cut from the Tasteful Labels Dies. The Basic White shape is stamped with the bark image from the Stamp Set and these are layered together.

A few lengths of Linen Thread are then stuck to the project.

Leaves and branches, cut from the Intricates Leaves Dies are added to the layered shape, with a triple-loop bow from today’s video stuck on with a glue dot.

Then, the project is finished with a few Matte Decorative Dots. These were my colour inspiration for the class projects.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – SAB Sheep Dies

Last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa project uses the FREE SAB Sheep Dies.

Top Tips, Tricks & TecSAB Sheep Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

It’s my version of the project on Page 11 of the SAB Brochure.

The colours are Balmy Blue, Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight and Basic White.

A Balmy Blue background is created using a Blending Brush.

Top Tips, Tricks & TecSAB Sheep Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Tasteful Labels provide the shapes for the sentiment from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set to sit on. I’ve extended the banner slightly on either side by cutting it in half.

Using the Bark 3D Embossing Folder, I added some texture to the front clouds.

These sit around the sun. I found that holding them together using Glue Dots allowed me to slot the sun in easier.

The clouds and sun are then raised up using Dimensionals.

Say it with Sunflowers

This sunny thank you card was made for a friend who loves sunflowers.

Say it with Sunflowers. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

My main colours are Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Basic White, with others used for the colouring.

The Jar of Flowers Stamp Set and coordinating Jar Punch provide the stamping and jar shape.

Say it with Sunflowers. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I’ve stamped in Black to create the outlines for colouring. I would normally use Grey or Brown for this, but felt black would work better with the overall design.

For the sunflowers, these are stamped twice. This allowed me to fussy cut parts of the images out for some strategic piecing. They are stuck together in various layers over the top of the jar.

Now, instead of the three sunflowers, there is a fuller looking bouquet. It was a bit fiddly and time consuming cutting them out, but it was worth it.

Using Stampin’ Blends, the water is coloured in Balmy Blue, stems and leaves in Granny Apple Green, centre in Soft Suede and flowers in Daffodil Delight.

A sentiment from the Blossoms in Bloom Stamp Set sits in a shape cut using the Tasteful Labels dies.

This is raised using Dimensionals over some Linen Thread and a little bow.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Inking Stamps Using Stampin’ Write Markers

For this week’s Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques video, I’m showing how to ink up your stamps using Stampin’ Write Markers.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Inking Stamps Using Stampin' Write Markers. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG DesignsClick below to watch my video.

My project uses a colour combination of Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Basic White.

The flower is coloured in three colours before stamping to create a multi-coloured image.

These are then coloured further using a Blender Pen to pull the colour.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Inking Stamps Using Stampin' Write Markers. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Two shapes from the Tasteful Labels Dies are cut out, one is the image, another in Old Olive. Cutting around the edge of the image leaves a border when the two pieces are layered together.

Before they are stuck to the project, some background ‘splats’ are stamped.

Using the same inking up technique, I’ve used part of a sentiment to create my ‘thank you’. This is again layered with Old Olive and raised up on Dimensionals.

Top Tips, Tricks & Techniques: Inking Stamps Using Stampin' Write Markers. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Finally, a touch of Wink of Stella is added to the centre of the flowers to add some sparkle.

Rainbow Hearts with Pattern Party DSP

This rainbow of hearts project is all about the Pattern Party DSP.

Rainbow Hearts with Pattern Party DSP. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Pattern Party DSP can be earned for FREE as a Host Reward. Who doesn’t love FREE?

My colour combination is taken from the DSP, with Basic White for my basecard, sentiment and Baker’s Twine, and Crushed Curry and Granny Apple Green for my circles.

Rainbow Hearts with Pattern Party DSP. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

By using a Stampin Write Marker in Basic Gray, I was able to just ink up the part of the Many Messages Stamp Set I needed.

I love this ‘just wanted to say…’ message, it’s perfect for any occasion.

Both the sentiment and the circles are cut out using the Tasteful Labels Dies.

With the circles sat behind the lengths of Baker’s Twine from the Essentials Pack, the sentiment is then raised up using Mini Dimensionals.

Finally, a bow is tied around the twine to complete the project.

Calypso Coral Strawberry Flowers

This pretty project uses the Sweet Strawberry Bundle to make these Calypso Coral strawberry flowers.

Pear Pizzazz, Pale Papaya and Basic White complete the colour combination.

Stamped off flowers using the Sweet Strawberry Stamp Set from the Bundle in Calypso Coral create a background.

Each of the leaves has a first generation outline and a second generation before being cut out using the Strawberry Builder Punch from the Bundle.

As with the leaves, the flowers are both first and second generation stamping and also cut out using the punch. These tiny flowers make brilliant accents for projects.

Tasteful Labels Dies provide the shape for the sentiment. This has the flowers and leaves around it and sits on a swoosh of coordinating In Color Ribbon.

Butterfly Cover Up

Today’s project happened by accident.

Butterfly Cover Up. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I’d stamped a pretty background using the Artistically Inked Stamp Set in Rich Razzleberry for another project.

Then, I managed to drip water on it. The main water stain was too big for me to use it for what I wanted. Can you spot the other small stain too?

Butterfly Cover Up. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

It wasn’t all bad news though, hence the butterfly cover up reference, as that’s exactly what I did.

Using the Brilliant Wings Dies, I cut out two shapes, one in Rich Razzleberry and one in Very Vanilla to continue the monochrome style.

I gently stamped onto the butterfly using the same image.

These are layered together using just the body to stick them together for the wings to be more 3D.

Butterfly Cover Up. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

A sentiment from the same stamp set cut out using the Tasteful Labels Dies is layered onto the project on the other side.

A length of Scalloped Lace Trim is looped for the butterfly to sit on. If you look closely, you’ll see it covers the small water stain on the right.
