August Card Making Class – Project 2

The second project from August’s Card Making Class was this Thinking of You card.

With the theme of Fabulous Florals, this Blooming Phrases stamp set from the Online Exclusives range certainly hits the brief.

A colour combination of Highland Heather, Fresh Freesia and Shaded Spruce work together to create this delicate project.

‘Thinking of you’ was stamped in the corner.

Using the end ‘wiggle’ of another sentiment, each stem was then stamped. Some were made longer with a bit of masking, careful lining up and stamping twice.

Next, the flowers were added, before the mammoth task of stamping each leaf individually.

Once all the stamping was completed, the Brass Butterflies added a finishing touch.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Layering Leaves Stamp Set

Last week’s Card & Cuppa project was inspired by a design in the Mini Catalogue.

I was asked for a ‘Thinking of You’ card. You can see the design I was inspired by HERE.

My version uses the Layering Leaves Stamp Set, Bough Punch, Darling Dinos Stamp Set and Labeled with Love Punch.

The colour combination is Soft Sea Foam, Crumb Cake, Garden Green, Granny Apple Green, Mossy Meadow, Calypso Coral and Basic White.

To begin the ‘splats’ are stamped tone-on-tone multiple times on the background.

Next, the various leaf images from the two stamp sets are stamped in Mossy Meadow onto the Soft Sea Foam piece.

These are coloured using Watercolor Pencils.

Several leaves are then cut out using the Bough Punch, while the sentiment is stamped and cut out using the Labeled with Love Punch.

The punched leaves are stuck to the back of the sentiment and the whole piece is then raised up on Dimensionals.

Finally, some copper sequins from the Neutrals Sequins Pack are added.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Beautiful Butterflies Bundle

Last week’s Card & Cuppa was full of butterflies.

We used the new Beautiful Butterflies Bundle from the Mini Catalogue to create this design.

I was also asked for pinks and purples, so my colour combination is Blackberry Bliss, Petunia Pop, Highland Heather and Petal Pink, along with Basic White.

First, we used the Beautiful Butterflies Hybrid Embossing Folder to create the background. The raised elements were then coloured using Blending Brushes.

On a separate piece of cardstock, the three butterflies were stamped and then cut out using the Dies from the Bundle.

We cut a few more extra pieces out around the antennae and bottom of the body to help with the final look of flying.

They were coloured using Stampin’ Blends, with a touch of Wink of Stella added afterwards.

A sentiment, also from the Stamp Set is stamped and given a banner-cut end.

Using a Paper Folder, the wings on each butterfly are curled. One of the butterflies is then stuck to the sentiment on one edge before this piece is attached using Tear & Tape.

The other two butterflies are stuck to the embossed background using Glue Dots near the body. As the wings have been curled and aren’t stuck down, they look like they are flying.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Planted Paradise

Last week’s Card & Cuppa design used the Planted Paradise Stamp Set from the Annual Catalogue.

This stamp set has lots of leaf and planter images to allow you to create many different combinations.

I chose to use the images in a slightly different way for this Thinking of You card.

Firstly, we drew lines where our diagonal Very Vanilla strip was going to sit.

Next, the leaves were stamped along the line in Shy Shamrock, Shaded Spruce, Lemon Lime Twist and Granny Apple Green.

Once the leaves were stamped, a slightly wider strip of Shy Shamrock cardstock was added. This is one of this year’s In Colors and the bright green works really well in this combination.

Any overhanging cardstock was then cut away.

A sentiment from the Simply Said Stamp Set is then stamped onto the Very Vanilla strip before that is also added. Again, any overhanging cardstock is cut away.

Finally, Iridescent Pearls are coloured using coordinating Stampin’ Blends and positioned either side of the sentiment.
