Fabulous Florals – Small Blooms in Sepia Tones

This is the final project from my recent Fabulous Florals Papercrafting Class.

Once again, I’ve used a previous project for my inspiration, this time creating small blooms in sepia tones.Small Blooms in Sepia Tones. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I really like projects that are various shades of the same colour, with this one using shades of brown.

Crumb Cake and Soft Suede, plus some Linen Thread provide my brown hues. Accents are in Very Vanilla and Gold.

Linen Thread creates a frame for the rest of project and adds a touch of texture too.Small Blooms in Sepia Tones. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

A variety of punches, Vases Builder, Sprig and of course Small Bloom create the different shapes. Some of the leaves and all of the flowers are in Crumb Cake for a tone-on-tone look. The other leaves are in Soft Suede.

Cutting the Sprig Punch shape in half gives me two thin stems to start my layering.

Then the leaves are stuck down, followed by the flowers.Small Blooms in Sepia Tones. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG DesignsA sentiment from the Itty Bitty Birthdays Stamp Set is offset to one side using Mini Dimensionals.

Finally, Gold Metallic Pearls highlight the centre of some of the flowers, with the rest creating additional interest across the project.

Here are all 6 projects. Do you have a favourite?

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Pick a Vase

For last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa class project, the attendees had to pick a vase (or 12). It was more about vase arranging than flower arranging!

Pick a Vase. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designsa

Using the Playing With Patterns 6×6 DSP, every attendee had 12 vases shapes from the Vases Builder Punch. As each shape is double-sided, the biggest challenge was deciding where to place each one and the side of pattern to use. They could use any number of vases in any combination.

Taking my colour inspiration from the DSP, the base card is Crushed Curry with a Purple Posy layer. The flowers are a mix of Crushed Curry and Calypso Coral, with Coastal Cabana leaves.

This isn’t a colour combination I would have put together myself, so it’s great to try something new by using the DSP colours. You already know they are going to work together, so all you need to do is create a project using them.

Pick a Vase. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designsa

A length of the co-ordinating Purple Posy Ribbon from Playing With Patterns Combo Pack sits down the side. Keep an eye out for this Combo Pack as some of the ribbons may be making an appearance in this week’s class.

The flowers are covered with Wink of Stella before adding them with a Glue Dot. Again, the flowers and leaves could be arranged in any vase, in any combination.

How many vases would be on your project, and how would you arrange them?

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Punch Art Bunnies

For last week’s Card & Cuppa session, I created these cute punch art bunnies. Perfect for both Easter and non-Easter events.

Punch Art Bunnies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

These bunnies are made from the Daisy Punch, Medium Daisy Punch, Vases Builder Punch and Circle Punches. Plus a die cut shape from the Wiggly Bugs Dies for the grass.

I chose Soft Sea Foam for my background to make it look like a nice big, open space, with Old Olive for the grass. The bunnies were Soft Suede and Crumb Cake.

Punch Art Bunnies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

As you can see, the daisy shapes made the ears. The vase builder shape made the bodies of the smaller bunnies, with the flat edge carefully hidden behind the grass.

For the larger bunny, the vase shape created the head, with the top of the shape rounded to make the top of the head.

Finally, Whisper White Baker’s Twine tied into a bow made a fun tail.

If you’d like to join me for one of my Social Isolation Classes, then please make sure you book your place by the relevant deadlines to allow packs to be posted to you.

Terracotta Tile Thank You

Today I’m sharing the Terracotta Tile thank you cards I sent to my most recent customers.

Terractotta Tile Thank You. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

As you know, I’m a fan of monochrome-type cards and this one is no exception. Here I’ve combined Terracotta Tile and Very Vanilla.

The Varied Stamp Set and Vases Builder Punch are the stars of the show, with the fabulous Label Me Lovely Punch.

Terractotta Tile Thank You. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I’ve used the Label Me Lovely Punch shape twice, once for the flowers and again cut in half to create a layered effect.

A length of co-ordinating In Color Ribbon across the project, plus a spot of Wink of Stella on the flowers complete the look.

Don’t forget that Sale-A-Bration ends tomorrow. Your final chance to get your hands on FREE products for every £45 of products.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Tulip-tastic

For last week’s Card & Cuppa session, I designed this tulip-tastic project.

Tulip-tastic. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

It was deliberately sentiment-free to allow it to be sent as a pick-me-up to someone who is self-isolating or social distancing .

I’ve used Lovely Lipstick and Grapefruit Grove for some brighter Spring colours. I’m going to miss these In Colors when they retire in a few months time. These are combined with Old Olive and Whisper White.

The background texture is created using the Painted Poppies Stamp Set, with the big tulip from the Timeless Tulips Bundle.

Tulip-tastic. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

For the tiny tulip punched shapes, these are from the Vases Builder Punch. If you look closely, you’ll see that these small tulips have a coat of Wink of Stella on them to give them a shimmer.

A strip of Metallic-Edge Ribbon, a shape from the Label Me Lovely Punch and a punched Circle make a base for the large tulip to sit on.

This week’s Card & Cuppa session was the final face-to-face class for the time being. However, I’ve put some new ‘Social Isolation Classes‘ together where kits will be posted out to you. We’ll then craft together using a video link.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Varied Vases in Purple

For last week’s Card & Cuppa I designed this pretty card using Varied Vases in purple tones.

Varied Vases in Purple. Card & Cuppa project designed by Karen a HIPPOFROG Designs

This Birthday card uses the Varied Vases Stamp Set and the Vases Builder Punch. Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape are the purples used.

The Artisan Textures Stamp Set provides the lovely background effect.

A strip of Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon underneath the vase just adds a little extra touch, along with the Rhinestones in the centre of the flowers

Varied Vases in Purple. Card & Cuppa project designed by Karen a HIPPOFROG Designs

It’s a very quick, easy and simple card to make, but looks really effective. The perfect type of card for making in batches. It would work in other colours too.

Don’t forget that today is your final chance to purchase any items from the Retiring List as the BRAND NEW CATALOGUE goes live tomorrow.

As the Bank Holidays and my holidays are over for a while, the Card & Cuppa schedule is now back to normal. Book your place by 18:00 the day before.

A Variety of Vases

I’m sharing a previous Card & Cuppa project with you today that I have remade in different colours.

This reversioned card is for my Godmother for a special Birthday.

Variety of Vases. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I thought I’d re-version the previous design to make a Birthday Card, so it’s a variety of vases, in a variety of colours.

Variety of Vases. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

This one is in Highland Heather and Rich Razzleberry, with the fabulous Velvet Rich Razzleberry Ribbon. The ribbon is sadly on the retiring list, but everything else I’ve used is carrying over to the new Annual Catalogue.

Variety of Vases. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

A top tip if you are making lots of projects using a Builder Punch. Line up all the stamps in the correct positions onto a clear block. Then you can stamp and punch them as a set.

Variety of Vases. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

While I was making the project, I decided to add to the variety of vases by making some in other colours too. It’s always good to have a few cards on standby, so these Grapefruit Grove and Lovely Lipstick versions will come in handy.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Vibrant Vases Just For You

Last week’s Card & Cuppa project was a card suitable for Mothering Sunday, or another superwoman. This card uses Vibrant Vases.

Vibrant Vases Just for You. Card & Cuppa project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Sale-A-Bration may have finished, but items from the Annual and Spring/Summer Catalogues are still available.

I have taken elements from 2 samples from Page 23 in the Spring/Summer Catalogue to create this project.

My colour combination is Pool Party, Night of Navy, Lovely Lipstick, Call Me Clover and Whisper White.

By stamping and punching each vase several times, these are placed in a line. Next, the stems and leaves are stamped before adding the feature vase

The flowers are stamped and punched and attached with glue dots.

A piece of Polka Dot Ribbon and Baker’s Twine and finally the sentiment are then added.

Vibrant Vases

This project from my recent Stamp-a-Stack Class uses the new Vibrant Vases Stamp Set from the Spring/Summer Catalogue.

Vibrant Vases. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

The Stamp Set co-ordinates with the fabulous Vases Builder Punch and this card is inspired by the project on Page 22 of the Spring/Summer Catalogue.

I’ve used a combination of Blushing Bride, Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist, along with Whisper white.

It takes a bit of time to stamp, punch and stick the vases on the background, but it is worth the effort.

Vibrant Vases. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

For the outline of the flowers, it is Berry Burst stamping straight onto the cardstock. But, for the flower fill, the image has been stamped off first to give a lighter look.

‘Happy Birthday!’ is from the Amazing Life Stamp Set and punched out with the Classic Label Punch.

A strip of Baker’s Twine with a bow added to it is the final touch, before layering everything together.

Saying Congratulations with Varied Vases

There isn’t a Card & Cuppa project to share with you this week, but, I do have a card I made for one of my regular Card & Cuppa attendees.

They have recently landed a job so I’m saying Congratulations with Varied Vases as my main design element.

Congratulations Card. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I’ve taken inspiration from this project and changed the colours to suit the recipient.

The colour combination is Blushing Bride, Highland Heather and Pear Pizzazz.

A sponge brayer creates the ombre Blushing Bride section. Then, a sentiment from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous Stamp Set is layered onto a Highland Heather background.

Congratulations Card. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Using the Vases Builder Punch, I created the flower and leaves and stuck those to the layered section using Glue Dots.

Once again the Detailed Trio Punch makes an appearance to round the corners.

The strip of Metallic-Edge Ribbon mirrors the Whisper White of the cardstock and also the sparkle of the Wink of Stella on the flowers.
