Guiding Card Making – Daisy

I recently showed you a project from a Guiding event.  Here is the second card from the morning.

Daisy Delight from Stampin' Up! with HIPPOFROG Designs

It is again a project from last year’s Charity Card Making Day.

This notecard is a very quick and easy project and is perfect for beginners.

A great project where a set of these notecards would make a lovely gift. With just a change of sentiment it can be suitable for a number of different occasions.

The star of the project is the stamped and punched daisy from the Delightful Daisy Suite. With just a few colours you can create this clean and simple design.

Some of the attendees had never stamped before and I really enjoyed showing them how to use stamps and ink to create their first project.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Watercolor Wings for Spring

For last week’s Card & Cuppa I moved away from Sponge Daubers and Brayers and made this spring colours project.

Watercolor Wings Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! Card & Cuppa Class project with HIPPOFROG Designs

This bright and sunny project uses various shades of orange and yellow, with red highlights.

To begin, we created the mask for the Garden in Bloom Stamp Set background by folding a piece of Grid Paper. So Saffron and Peekaboo Peach are the paler orange and yellow combination.

The Watercolor Wings Stamp Set provides the Real Red over-stamped butterfly that flies across the masking.

For the large butterfly, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Real Red was the darker colour combination. A piece of Black Baker’s Twine loops around the butterfly to create the body and antennae.

Just a touch of Wink of Stella on the wingtips adds a final bit of sparkle.

Join us for a future Card & Cuppa session by booking your place by 18:00 the day before.

Birthday Card for my Stampin’ Up Mum

Being part of Stampin’ Up! is like having a very large extended family, and my Stampin’ Up! ‘Mum’ celebrated her Birthday recently.

They are fan of butterflies and turquoise so here is the card I made.

Stampin' Up! Watercolor Wings

The wall was created by inking up the embossing folder with Crumb Cake and then running it through the Big Shot.  This gives a depth to the mortar between the bricks.  Make sure you ink up the right side of the folder!

I decided to use a range of blues and chose Pool Party, Bermuda Bay and Island Indigo with the body in Basic Gray.  For the butterfly I used Watercolor Wings and the co-ordinating dies and the Eclectic Layers Dies for the leaves.

A piece of looped Gold Metallic Thread and some Wink of Stella on the wings of the Butterfly add some classy finishing touches.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Watercolor Wings meets In Color

Happy Monday!

Last week’s Card & Cuppa project mixes old and new.

Stampin' Up! Watercolor Wings

The Stamp Set Watercolor Wings meets In Color 2017-2019.  I apologise for the lack of ‘u’ in ‘color’, Stampin’ Up! is a US company so it’s US spelling!

On a fortnightly basis, we have a creative challenge over on our team Facebook page where we create projects based on a topic.  The current challenge was to create a project based on this sketch.

Stampin' Up! Team Challenge

As you can see, it was a really useful sketch for me to use for the project.

I’ve stamped the 3 step butterfly in Powder Pink, Berry Burst and Fresh Fig.  Then used some tone-on-tone stamping on the banner, and again on the background.  The dots continue on the butterfly background too.

Some sponge dauber action around the edges of the Powder Pink and Whisper White parts have softened the look.

A Fresh Fig sentiment and strip of Berry Burst Ribbon help pull everything together

We fussy cut the butterfly and stamped the atnennae onto the dotty background before attaching the butterfly on top.

Finally, some Wink of Stella on the wings gives a subtle sparkle.

Book your place HERE to join us at next week’s Card & Cuppa sessions.
