Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Your Way!

For the final Card & (Your) Cuppa of the year, I gave the attendees a challenge.

This was a free-for-all, do it your way project. Rather than me providing a pre-made project for them to create, I sent a pack of items for them to make whatever they wanted.

I did, however, provide ideas from flowers, presents and baubles to whet their imagination.

From the items, I made this project.

Your Way. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

As the packs included strips of Artistry Blooms DSP, along with co-ordinating Melon Mambo, Gorgeous Grape and Mango Melody Cardstock, and more, I cut pieces of the DSP and made them into presents.

Shapes from the Whale Builder Punch from the packs made bows for the top of the presents. I love using shapes in different ways.

A sentiment from the Itty Bitty Birthdays Stamp Set cut out using the Classic Label Punch is sat on a length of Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon.

Finally, the presents are stuck down with the middle one stuck using Dimensionals.

This was my final class of 2021. Classes for 2021 begin w/c 11th Jan. Head to my Class Timetable for full details and to book your place.

…and Cauldron Bubble

I hope you’ve been enjoying the Halloween projects I’ve been sharing this week.

My final one is this cauldron, filled with lots of interesting items. ‘Double, Double, Toil and Trouble…’

And Cauldron Bubble... Halloween Card. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I’ve used LOTS of products in this one to make the cauldron bubble! Make yourself comfortable as this is a long post…

Starting with the Granny Apple Green Basecard, Basic Black Layer and Smoky Slate foreground, these combine to create a spooky witches lair.

I’ve then stamped tone on tone using the Textured Essentials Stamp Set to add some texture to the background. With some Granny Apple Green bubbles from the Pattern Play Stamp Set.

The layers have all been rounded on two corners with the Detailed Trio Punch. And Cauldron Bubble... Halloween Card. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Next, the cauldron. This is a shape from the Tasteful Labels Dies and I think it makes a perfect cauldron.

The contents of the cauldron are Poppy Parade eyeballs, made using the Waterfront Stamp Set and the same image as the bubbles, this time in Tuxedo Black.

There’s also a bat wing from the Umbrella Builder Punch and spider’s legs. I’ll explain a bit more about the legs in a moment.

Then, there are two frogs cut from the Dockside Dies, hopping away from their potential fate.

I’m not a fan of spiders, but I think you will agree that this one is quite cute!

The body is from the head of the Snowman Builder Punch and the legs and strand are from Hippo & Friends Dies. Offcuts of the legs were then popped into the cauldron.

For the eyes, this is the circle from the centre of the Delightful Tag Topper Punch, and the eye from the Whale Builder Punch.

If you haven’t already guessed. I like using my punches and dies in lots of different ways! And Cauldron Bubble... Halloween Card. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

A piece of Metallic Mesh Ribbon across the corner makes it look like a spider’s web.

Here are all of the projects I’ve shared this week. Do you have a favourite?

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Whale meet again!

It was definitely a case of Whale Meet Again for last week’s Card & Cuppa project.

The attendees have been asking for a project that uses the Whale Builder Punch so here it is. As I used it for the Children’s class the other week, it’s getting a fair amount of use!

Whale Meet Again. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Purple Posy, Coastal Cabana, Night of Navy and Whisper White create this project. My colour combination is taken from the Playing with Patterns Ribbon Combo Pack, and I’ll explain a bit more on why this is in a bit.

At a previous session, the attendees liked the Purple Posy Ribbon from the Playing with Patterns Ribbon Combo Pack. I was also able to show them the other two ribbons in the pack, so thought I would use them and the colours on this project.

Whale Meet Again. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

The Coastal Cabana piece is embossed using the Old World Paper Embossing Folder, a new item in the Annual Catalogue. I thought it looked like the sea in this colour with the ripple shape cut by hand.

Using the Painted Labels Dies and cutting out the centre piece, the swirl is threaded with the ribbons. I’ve also added the Crinkle Seam Binding Ribbon in Whisper White here too.

For the whale, they are made two-tone by using a belly piece in Purple Posy. I gave the attendees whales in both colours, so they could choose to make either Night of Navy or Purple Posy. Or even both.

This sits across the centre of the swirl and the water spout is then added.

Finally, an eye and three bubbles from the Elegant Faceted Gems Pack add a little bit of sparkle and fun.

Card & (Your) Cuppa for Children – A Lot of Scrunching

This week was our first Card & (Your) Cuppa for Children session of the summer. These classes are slightly different this year as they are online. However, that didn’t stop us from having lots of fun!

The project I designed involved a lot of scrunching of cardstock. I provided all of the items the children needed (apart from scissors, glue and adult supervision).

Isn’t this project cute?

A lot of scrunching. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Creating the waves was fun. Taking alternate pieces of Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana cardstock, they were ripped to create the wave shape. Then, the fun bit, scrunching the cardstock to give extra texture and a water effect.

Starting at the top, each piece is layered, with some Tulip Builder Punch seaweed added along the way. My seaweed is Mint Macaron, Highland Heather and Soft Sea Foam.

The whale is a little bit fiddly to put together, but I think the two-tone finish looks great. Balmy Blue and Misty Moonlight are my colours here. I gave the children a whale in both colours so they could decide if they wanted a darker or lighter whale. Some chose to use both.

An eye from the Playful Palette Resin Dots just finishes it off nicely.

Finally, the whale is attached with a mix of regular and Mini Dimensionals.

In Color Introduction Class – Misty Moonlight

I think you’ll agree this Misty Moonlight project is whaley great! Isn’t he cute? This project is one of six from my recent ‘In Color’ Introduction Class.

Misty Moonlight. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

A colour combination of Misty Moonlight, Balmy Blue, Soft Sea Foam and Purple Posy work well together. I couldn’t not include Soft Sea Foam as part of this project!

The seaweed is from the Smooth Sailing Dies with the back one glued down completely first. Then the co-ordinating Baker’s Twine from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack is added. The next piece of seaweed is glued at the bottom and in a few places at the top to make it look like it is still has some movement.

Misty Moonlight. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Using the fabulous new Whale Builder Punch, pieces are cut in Misty Moonlight and Balmy Blue. He is put together to create a two-tone effect, with another fin on top.

An eye from the Playing with Patterns Resin Dots just adds a touch of character before he is stuck on with Dimensionals. A Mini Dimensional for under the tail, and regular ones for the body.

Finally, three Enamel Dots in Misty Moonlight create some bubbles.

This punch is really cute and it comes as part of a 10% discounted Bundle with a Stamp Set in the new Annual Catalogue. Not only could you get 10% off, you could also earn a Bonus Days coupon if you shop during July.

Why not join us for a future class? I’ve got online classes planned until the end of the year, visit my Class Timetable for full details.
