For last week’s Card & Cuppa I designed a project using the spotlight technique.
First, a background was created using the Petal Palette Stamp Set in Black Archival Ink (on the retiring list along with Basic Gray Archival Ink).
Next, 3 different size circles are punched from the background. Then it’s colouring of each circle using Watercolor Pencils and Blender pens. The attendees were able to use any colour of their choice from the Watercolor Pencils for their projects. We had a fabulous array of pretty roses.
Layering each circle onto a slightly larger Old Olive circle taking care to line up each pattern with the original base layer creates the spotlight.
As you can see, each circle is a spotlight of colour of the background pattern.
Finally, a sentiment with an Old Olive background layer co-ordinates with the circles for a finishing touch. A touch of Wink of Stella on the flowers adds some sparkle.
Due to space constraints, we don’t use the Big Shot at Card & Cuppa classes, so punches were used at this class. Layering Circles Framelits to create the cut outs can be used as an alternative.
Don’t forget that the retiring list is here until the end of May (while stocks last). Act quickly to secure your favourite products.
Happy crafting
