I’ve been asked to make a card similar to this one, so I opted for Touches of Texture in monochrome. I really enjoy monochrome projects, so this was fun to make.
The card is in Grapefruit Grove and Whisper White, but the attendees chose their colour from the 2018-2020 In Color Collection.
After some clever folding of Grid Paper, two of the images from Touches of Texture Stamp Set create the diagonal piece at the bottom. A piece of ribbon separates the two sections.
Next, the flower from Touches of Texture is stamped twice using the chosen In Color. Colouring the centre of one of the flowers with a Stampin’ Write Marker gives a bit more depth. Then, using a Blender Pen, this pulls colour around the flower to soften it slightly.
This flower is then cut out by hand. It takes a time to cut it out as it has lots of zig-zag petals, but it’s worth it.
A layer is cut using the Starburst Punch, this mirrors the edge of the flower. The blank flower is then added to the layer. The cut out flower is then carefully positioned on the top of the blank flower. By only using glue in the centre, it creates a more 3D effect.
Finally, a sentiment from Happy Birthday Gorgeous and Wink of Stella in the centre of the flower complete the design.
While I was making this project, I made quite a few using the same diagonal design. See if you can spot them.
If you find a design you like, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t keep using it. Change the colours, stamp sets etc and you’ll get a lot of mileage out of it.
Card and Cuppa is taking a break for a few weeks, but will be back w/c 15th October. Book your place by 18:00 the day before.
Happy crafting
