This is the final project from a recent BYO Stamps Class about gaps. Covering the gap was the purpose of this design.
With shades of blue and the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set, this project is great for those who aren’t fans of floral or butterflies.
First, a piece of cardstock was placed where the sentiment was going to go. This is the first part of covering the gap as it acts as a guide for stamping the leaves. We want the leaves to be poking out from beneath the gap the sentiment covers.
My colour combination is Pacific Point for the large leaf, Night of Navy for the background leaves and Seaside Spray for the leaves that are filling the gaps. Build up the leaves in layers, a few at a time, you can always add more.
After the stamping, the sentiment was stuck onto a strip of co-ordinating Seaside Spray cardstock. This was then glued to the Very Vanilla piece and the excess pieces trimmed away.
Two lengths of Braided Linen Trim are added at the top and bottom edges of the sentiment. This is then added to the Night of Navy layer and Seaside Spray base card.
This is a really quick and simple card, and the design can be used with different stamp sets, colours and sentiments.
Here are all three projects together (from left to right) creating the gap, filling the gap and covering the gap.
