For one of my recent BYO Stamp classes, I created 3 designs around gaps. We had creating the gap, filling the gap and covering the gap. This project is all about filling the gap.
However, with this one, you do actually create the gap too before filling it!
I used Whisper White for the base card and a variety of different colours for the Butterflies. The splash of colour looks really vibrant against the white background.
To create this, the top piece is cut in half to create the gap. Then, the layer underneath had lines drawn on it to create a space slightly wider than the gap.
This gap was then filled with butterflies from the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set. There is a combination of stamped, using Smoky Slate Ink, and not stamped shapes cut using the Butterfly Duet Punch. These shapes were stuck on and cut at the lines drawn to allow parts of the butterflies to be used in mutliple places. In fact, the yellow butterflies top left and bottom right are from the same shape.
When I was happy with how everything was arranged, this layer was stuck onto the base card.
Then, a sentiment from the Stamp Set is added to one of the front pieces, again using Smoky Slate ink. It’s easier to stamp the sentiment before sticking the top pieces down as you can recreate them if you make a mistake!
Using lots of Dimensionals, the top layers are stuck down. Finally, small Rhinestones are added for a touch of sparkle.
This project can be created using lots of different colours and shapes. You can use just one colour family, or stamp onto white and colour the pieces yourself. I think it would also look great in monochrome. The possibilities are endless.
Pop back soon for the other gap projects from this class.
