Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Brilliant Wings Dies

I was asked for a project using the new early release butterflies, so that is the design for last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa class.

Brilliant Wings Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

The new Butterfly Brilliance Bundle (Brilliant Wings Dies and co-ordinating Stamp Set), along with the time-limited Natural Touch Specialty Paper make a card suitable for any occasion.

Using Mint Macaron and Very Vanilla, the colour combination works really well together.

The Very Vanilla butterflies from the Brilliant Wings Dies are stuck onto the DSP. Cutting away any overhang makes them look like they are flying off the page.

Next, the Scallop Lace Trim is added across the DSP to give another layer of texture.Brilliant Wings Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Looping the length of Linen Thread, this is attached using a glue dot to hold it in place.

After giving the Mint Macaron butterfly a coating of Wink of Stella, it is attached using Dimensionals.

Finally, Champagne Rhinestones are added to the project for some added sparkle.I can’t wait to recreate this project in different colour ways.

Oh Snap – Adorable Alligator or Cute Crocodile

Due to the Easter Bank Holiday, there wasn’t a Card & (Your) Cuppa session last week.

Instead, I’m sharing this cute Birthday card using the fun Oh Snap Stamp Set from the January-June Mini Catalogue.

Oh Snap. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I can’t make up my mind if it’s an adorable alligator or a cute crocodile!

My colour combination is Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, Pool Party and Whisper White. Along with Basic Gray for the sentiment.

There are a couple of retiring items in this project, the Classic Label Punch and the Artistry Blooms DSP. If you want to own these, then make sure you grab them while stocks last.

Oh Snap. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

For the water, the background images are stamped in Pool Party and Mango Melody. Using a Blender Pen, the lily flowers are given a touch of colour.

After stamping the alligator/crocodile onto the DSP, I then did a lot of fussy cutting. If you’re not a fan of fussy cutting, then skip this part! Oh Snap. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

For the sentiment, one of the messages from this Oh Snap Stamp Set punched out using the Classic Label Punch.

Finally, the alligator/crocodile is raised up using Dimensionals.

As this is in the January-June Mini Catalogue, it’s not retiring at this time. Why not snap up (sorry!) your own set?

Or join me at my online classes. Head to my Class Timetable for full details.

I’ve used Whisper White in my project, which has now been replaced with Basic White. See this post for full details while I work through my supply.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Spring Daisies

For last week’s Card & Cuppa I wanted to celebrate the arrival of Spring with these fresh spring daisies.

Spring Daisies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

My daisies are different shades of yellow, So Saffron, Daffodil Delight and Bumblebee onto Pear Pizzazz and Soft Sea Foam greens.

I’ve added some extra texture to the Pear Pizzazz piece by scoring lines using my Metric Plate on my Simply Scored tool.Spring Daisies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG DesignsA piece of my favourite (and thankfully not retiring!) Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon makes a pretty bow.

Make sure you take a look at the Retiring List and purchase your favourite items while you can.

Each daisy has some Wink of Stella in the middle, before the the Opal Rounds are added.

My project is currently left blank, so is perfect for any occasion. You can easily add a sentiment to tailor it as needed.

One Year On(line)…

On 30th March 2020, I held my first online class as we could no longer meet in person to craft.

This is the project I taught. Full details of the project can be found here.

Floral and Punches. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

One year later, we’re still crafting together online.

During the year, I’ve taught many Card & (Your) Cuppa sessions, plus evening classes, BYO and more.

It’s was a very steep learning curve setting everything up quickly to be able to make it happen, plus a new adventure for us all into the world of ZOOM.

As Stampin’ Up! rules don’t allow me to provide pre-stamped images, class kits have included die-cut and punched shapes, embossed pieces, ribbons and embellishments. All posted in advance with fingers (and toes) crossed that they reach everyone in time.

It’s made me be a lot more organised with my class planning. I can no longer change my mind on a project an hour before class, or pop home when I forget something!

I’m so grateful to everyone who has joined me online over the past year. It’s been lovely to ‘see’ you.

Thank you for conquering the technology and for helping to keep my business running during this time.

Don’t forget to check out my Class Timetable for details of the classes I’m running in 2021. NB: Due to personal circumstances, my evening classes haven’t run so far this year. I hope to have them up and running again in May.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Easter Bunny Punch Art

Last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa project was this cute Easter Bunny Punch Art card.

Easter Bunny Punch Art. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs But, this card is also perfect for any rabbit fan too, not just Easter.

The return of a punch with ovals in the January-June Mini Catalogue was brilliantly timed for this project!

My colour combination is Crumb Cake for the main rabbit, with Blushing Bride and White accents. These sit on a background of Seaside Spray and Pear Pizzazz.

Circle Punches and the Double Oval Punch make the main shapes. Just one shape cut out using the Small Bloom Punch creates the area on the face. Tiny hearts for the nose and pads are from the Dog Builder Punch.

By just popping the ears behind the head, and the feet in front of the body, it comes together very quickly.

Easter Bunny Punch Art. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

The most complicated bit is the face, with lengths of Twine from the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack creating the whiskers.

Finally, the nose is attached with a glue dot and the Matte Black Enamel Dots eyes area added.

There are so many different options for this design, beginning with the shape of the grass for the background. You can either cut make it curvy as I’ve done here, or create a more 3D effect similar to this project.

Easter Bunny Punch Art. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

With the rabbit, this can either be the front, as I’ve shown. Or, the back of the rabbit, using the Small Bloom Punch shape for the tail, instead of on the face. Another option is to just create the face and pop it looking out through the grass.

I’d love to see what you decide to make.

Some of the punches I used on this project are now on the Retiring List. Items on the list are available while stocks last.

I’ve used Whisper White in my project, which has now been replaced with Basic White. See this post for full details while I work through my supply.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – In Good Taste DSP

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa project was all in good taste!

It uses the In Good Taste DSP, along with the Tasteful Labels Dies.

In Good Taste. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

The inspiration for this project is page 59 of the January-June Mini Catalogue.

I like the effect of the background stamping on the catalogue project, with the layers on top.

As I’m unable to provide stamped images to attendees, a sheet of DSP provides the perfect alternative background. With the In Good Taste DSP being double-sided, the attendees could choose which they preferred.

In Good Taste. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG DesignsMy colour combination of Basic Gray and Night of Navy is taken from the Well Suited Twine Combo Pack and makes this the perfect masculine-style project.

For a slightly different look, I have tied knots in the pieces of Twine from the Well Suited Combo Pack.

In Good Taste. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

The sentiment from the Many Mates Stamp Set is coloured using a Blender Pen and raised over the twine using Dimensionals.

This is a quick and simple project to make, plus, the design is really versatile and can suit different colours, shapes and sentiments.

I’ve used Whisper White in my project, which has now been replaced with Basic White. See this post for full details while I work through my supply.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Double Oval Punch

For last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa project, I again took inspiration from the January-June Mini Catalogue.

Double Oval Punch. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

This time it was the project on Page 65 that caught my eye.

My version is in Highland Heather and Very Vanilla.

The ovals are cut using the new Double Oval Punch. I love that we have a fabulous two-in-one oval punch.

Each scallop oval is positioned, with any overhang cut from the side. For the smooth edge ovals, these are embossed using the Ornate Floral Embossing Folder before being stuck onto some of the scallop ovals. Once again, the overhang is cut away.  Double Oval Punch. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Using the Lovely You Stamp Set, the sentiment is in Gray Granite, with a few Highland Heather flowers too.

A length of Gray Granite Shimmer Ribbon is stuck on top of the scallop oval, before the sentiment oval is raised above it using Dimensionals.

Finally, some Pastel Pearls in co-ordinating Highland Heather are dotted around the card for a finishing touch.

Double Oval Punch. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I really like how versatile this project is. It can be made in any colour, with the sentiment changed as needed. Simply make a few to have on standby, then add the relevant sentiment when it’s time to send.

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Fun With In Color

For last week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa project, the attendees had fun with In Color.

Here is the project.

Fun With In Color. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

It is my version of the project on Page 17 of the January-June Mini Catalogue.

I chose the same colours as the Catalogue project – Bumblebee, Magenta Madness and Just Jade.

Instead of stamping, the large shapes are from the Curvy Dies. These look like an abstract shape and work well with the rest of the project.

Strips of the In Color 6×6 DSP Stack make the stripes across the page. Fun With In Color. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Each flower is then stuck on with a Glue Dot and has a co-ordinating In Color Enamel Dot for the centre.Fun With In Color. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

Finally, more Enamel Dots are added across the project in all of the 5 In Colors.

For this project, the attendees had the chance to stick to clean and simple, or show their wild side by scrunching, tearing, separating cardstock and going full on grunge. Of course, there was also the option of somewhere in the middle!

Last Week’s Card & (Your) Cuppa – Flowering Vine Dies

Last week was the first Card & (Your) Cuppa session of 2021. It was great to be back.

Here is the project. It uses the fabulous Flowering Vine Dies. It is my version of the project on Page 62 of the new January-June Mini Catalogue.

Flowering Vine Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

The colour combination is Mint Macaron, So Saffron, Blushing Bride and Very Vanilla, with Just Jade Ribbon.

Two pieces of lattice effect and lots of flowers are cut out using the Flowering Vine Dies. This takes a while, but the smaller flowers can be cut in multiples of three as there are three dies for these. Each flower is then stuck onto the back of the lattice piece using either Multipurpose Glue or Fine-Tip Glue.

Then, these pieces are stuck onto the basecard, so the flowers show through.

Flowering Vine Dies. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

A sentiment from the Ornate Thanks Stamp Set in Basic Gray is added to another die cut shape from Flowering Vine Dies. This is stuck onto a co-ordinating So Saffron piece.

This piece is stuck over the swoosh of Just Jade Ribbon using Dimensionals.

Finally, some small pearls are added to the centre of the larger flowers.

Earlier this week I showed you some Thank You cards I had made using the FREE Flower & Field SAB DSP.

Here is another version of the project, made using a different sheet from this fabulous 12×12 DSP.

This was my most recent customer Thank You card, for those who shopped with me during December and January.
