Saying Farewell to the Rocky Horror Tour

Last weekend I said farewell to the Rocky Horror Tour. It has been touring the UK since December last year, and I’ve watched it at some of the venues it has visited.

Although the tour finishes today, last week was my final visit and was my opportunity to hand out the cards I’d made to say thank you.

I made 10 different cards so this is a picture heavy post. However, I haven’t posted ALL the pictures.

To see the full set, head to my Rocky Horror Pinterest Board where they will be appearing over the next few days.

Each of the cards used a variety of Stampin’ Up! products. You can see the Tailored Tag Punch and the 1/2″ Circle Punch were used quite a lot in the projects.

Can you spot some of the other products I used?

Did you spot some of the variety of products I used?
I was particularly pleased with the bow I created for both Riff Raff and Janet. Who knew that Elephant Ears would come in useful!

I had great fun making these as it was something a bit different to my normal crafting routine.

Don’t forget that booking for my final evening classes of the year closes very soon. Head to my Class Timetable for more details and to book your place.

Below, I’ve listed just a handful of the main products I used to create the projects. To order any Stampin’ Up! products, including the BRAND NEW Christmastime is Here Suite, head to my 24/7 online store

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – a dotty time with the Delightful Tag Topper Punch

At last week’s Card & Cuppa session, I created a project that centred on a brand new product from the Annual Catalogue – Delightful Tag Topper Punch.

Delightful Tag Topper Punch. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

The main colour is one of the new In Color 2019-2021 Collection, Pretty Peacock. It’s teamed with various shades of green, Mint Macaron, Pear Pizzazz and Soft Sea Foam.

Using the Delightful Tag Topper Punch, a 2″ strip of cardstock was neatly shaped. Corners were then rounded using the Detailed Trio Punch.

Dots from the Gallery Grunge Stamp Set and tone-on-tone stamping give the project more depth.

1/2″, 1″ and 1 1/2″ Circle Punches were used and the circles were placed on the card.

It was then time to layer various shapes on top of the tag. As the shape from the Timeless Label Punch wasn’t quite wide enough, it was chopped in half and hidden by the sentiment!

Co-ordinating Scalloped Linen Ribbon is added and tied together using a length of Baker’s Twine.

The tag is added to the project using Dimensionals to lift if off the page.

Finally, the sentiment from Vibrant Vases Stamp Set is added. You’ll see that even though the tag is at an angle, the sentiment is straight to the card. I think this adds to the overall design of the project.

This project attracted lots of comments on how else it could be used, different colours, for a Christmas Card, etc. It’s lovely that it inspired additional ideas.

Why not join us for a future Card & Cuppa session or one of my evening Papercrafting Classes. All abilities welcome.

Pretty Purple Posy

Isn’t Purple Posy a fabulous new addition to the Stampin’ Up! range as part of the In Color 2019-2021 Collection?

Purple Posy In Color from Stampin' Up! Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

This project was one from my annual Introduction to In Color Papercrafting Class I ran recently.

Purple Posy combines beautifully here with the subtle Soft Sea Foam and an existing In Color, Grapefruit Grove.

As the Stampin’ Pad is not currently available, we’ve used Versamark and the Artisan Textures Stamp Set to create a tone-on-tone background effect.

The flower from the Floral Essence Stamp Set is also stamped the same way and cut out using the Punch from the same Bundle. A small punched circle coloured with Wink of Stella completes the centre.

Corners are rounded with the Detailed Trio Punch and leaves are cut with the Sprig Punch and placed behind.

Two strips of the co-ordinating Scallop Ribbon are attached to the top and bottom of the sentiment from the Vibrant Vases Stamp Set.

These are then all attached to the background, with the flower added at the end with a Dimensional.

I’ aware that this project uses a lot of different products, but I really like the finished effect. You could amend it to use just one or two stamp sets or punches if needed.

If you’re wondering how Purple Posy fits into the colour range, here is a comparison I’ve put together with other current purples.

A Variety of Vases

I’m sharing a previous Card & Cuppa project with you today that I have remade in different colours.

This reversioned card is for my Godmother for a special Birthday.

Variety of Vases. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

I thought I’d re-version the previous design to make a Birthday Card, so it’s a variety of vases, in a variety of colours.

This one is in Highland Heather and Rich Razzleberry, with the fabulous Velvet Rich Razzleberry Ribbon. The ribbon is sadly on the retiring list, but everything else I’ve used is carrying over to the new Annual Catalogue.

A top tip if you are making lots of projects using a Builder Punch. Line up all the stamps in the correct positions onto a clear block. Then you can stamp and punch them as a set.

While I was making the project, I decided to add to the variety of vases by making some in other colours too. It’s always good to have a few cards on standby, so these Grapefruit Grove and Lovely Lipstick versions will come in handy.

Last Week’s Card & Cuppa – Vibrant Vases Just For You

Last week’s Card & Cuppa project was a card suitable for Mothering Sunday, or another superwoman. This card uses Vibrant Vases.

Sale-A-Bration may have finished, but items from the Annual and Spring/Summer Catalogues are still available.

I have taken elements from 2 samples from Page 23 in the Spring/Summer Catalogue to create this project.

My colour combination is Pool Party, Night of Navy, Lovely Lipstick, Call Me Clover and Whisper White.

By stamping and punching each vase several times, these are placed in a line. Next, the stems and leaves are stamped before adding the feature vase

The flowers are stamped and punched and attached with glue dots.

A piece of Polka Dot Ribbon and Baker’s Twine and finally the sentiment are then added.

Vibrant Vases

This project from my recent Stamp-a-Stack Class uses the new Vibrant Vases Stamp Set from the Spring/Summer Catalogue.

Vibrant Vases. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

The Stamp Set co-ordinates with the fabulous Vases Builder Punch and this card is inspired by the project on Page 22 of the Spring/Summer Catalogue.

I’ve used a combination of Blushing Bride, Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist, along with Whisper white.

It takes a bit of time to stamp, punch and stick the vases on the background, but it is worth the effort.

Vibrant Vases. Project designed by Karen at HIPPOFROG Designs

For the outline of the flowers, it is Berry Burst stamping straight onto the cardstock. But, for the flower fill, the image has been stamped off first to give a lighter look.

‘Happy Birthday!’ is from the Amazing Life Stamp Set and punched out with the Classic Label Punch.

A strip of Baker’s Twine with a bow added to it is the final touch, before layering everything together.
