At last week’s Card & Cuppa class, the attendees all made this pop-up snowman card. The theme was a Christmas card suitable for children.
The Balmy Blue base card is a zig-zag with the snowman popping out the fold in the back piece.
Using the Making Christmas Bright Stamp Set, we stamped a piece for writing a message and this was layered onto piece of Silver Metallic Card.
Stamping in Kraft ink on the snowman panel using another stamp from Making Christmas Bright and one from the Waterfront Stamp Set gives a snowy backdrop.
Every piece of the snowman is created using 9 pieces folded and stuck together to create the pop-up effect.
The trickiest part was the carrot nose that is slotted through one of the circles before it is stuck to the other 8 pieces.
Once all of the sections are created, it’s time to add the snowman to the centre fold of the card. The addition of a piece of Poppy Parade Striped Ribbon between the body and head makes a cute feature.
Eyes and buttons are then added to finish the snowman. Some of the attendees also used Wink of Stella to add some Christmas sparkle to their stars and snow.
I’ve just realised that I didn’t take a picture of the front of the card! As the focus is the inside of the card, the front was really simple. It was made to look like a parcel, using two strips of DSP left over from making the envelope.
Our Card & Cuppa classes start again in 2019. Check out my timetable for more details.
